Reviews for Andaz West Hollywood

Decent hotel if you can get for a good price

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Expensive, nice upmarket public areas, stunning roof top pool area, room itself not worth $350 per night, limited view and no ceiling lighting, so dark. fabulous friendly waiting staff. Not much in the immediate area around the hotel but central for taxi rides to tourist features and importantly within the Waymo zone. Loud noisy guests partying at 3am were quickly shut down once I could eventually get hold of reception staff.

NOT WORTH IT Anymore, unfortunately.

I have stayed at the Andaz West Hollywood property several times over the past few years and I have witnessed the customer service and the cleanliness sharply decline each time. This last time, was the worst. THE UPSIDES: The Andaz West Hollywood is very conveniently located on Sunset Blvd, walking distance to restaurants, shops, comedy clubs etc. This is probably it's best feature. The restaurant is decent and the dining area near the windows is bright and airy. The parking / valet staff in front is very friendly and great at keeping things moving. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE (FULL CONSTRUCTION ZONE): During the first morning of my most recent stay (last week), I was abruptly woken up by the sounds of loud hammering, buzz saws and construction workers blasting their radio. I opened the door to my room and was shocked to see a full construction zone in the two rooms DIRECTLY ACROSS from mine. At no time was I warned about this or asked if I wanted to move. This prevented me from sleeping in AND from doing any work in my room. I had to reschedule zoom calls with clients. If you are looking to relax or to work, THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU. This happened all day for 4 days in a row (until the friday before July 4th). It appears that they are pulling out the carpet and putting in cheap laminated wood flooring. I can imagine how long it will take to do this in every room of the hotel. To make matters worse, I wrote a detailed note in the follow up email the hotel sends after guests leave and the manager wrote me back and basically said "sorry for the noise and the cleanliness and they hope I'll stay with them again in the future." The RIGHT thing to do would be a partial reimbursement for the stay since 1) I could not sleep past 9am due to construction 2) I could not work in my room due to construction, 3) could not use the pool over the weekend due to private event (see next section). ***If you cannot sleep or work in your room or use the hotel's advertised amenities, guest SHOULD BE COMPENSATED*** POOL OVERCROWDED AND FREQUENTLY BOOKED FOR EVENTS: When I arrived on a Sunday, I was informed that the pool was closed due to a private event. It was a Sunday, during summer, and the pool was not open to hotel guests. They should have notified us via email AS SOON as this event was booked so we had the option of booking another hotel (there are many great ones nearby) with pools. A pool at a hotel in L.A. in the summer is a key draw, and the one at the Andaz was off limits. CLEANLINESS: The rooms are very dark at this hotel, the lighting is minimal and dim (maybe this goes with the rock n' roll vibe they are trying to achieve) but it just makes the rooms feel sad and dated. Further to that, the rooms are just not the cleanest. There was hair dried to the walls of my shower and all over the sink (like someone shaved and did not fully rinse the sink). There was also dust trapped in the corners of the bathroom and there were stains on the white duvet cover on my bed. One of those things could be forgivable, but collectively, they point to a lack of attention to detail and cleanliness. CONCLUSION: You are prob better off looking at the Sunset Marquis or the Pendry or the One Hotel which are all within a 5 min walk. I've stayed at all of these properties and they are considerably cleaner with the significantly better customer service.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Hollywood. Central location and great service. I would definitely recommend and will stay again the next time that I am in town.

Underwhelming

It’s a bit run down and basic. Very different from the nice Andaz properties in Asia. Food is generic American and not fine cuisine Staff does not care and are just doing the minimum

Perfect hotel in a perfect location!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

From the moment we arrived nothing was a problem for the staff — they upgraded our room for us complimentary as we were on honeymoon. We were given the Tutti Frutti suite and it was absolutely perfect! 2 big beds that slept myself, husband and then our two children in the other — extremely spacious and super comfortable! Excellent views of sunset boulevard also. The free snacks at reception daily is also a cute bonus. The breakfast option was fantastic — the staff at breakfast were brilliant and always so kind to us and the children! Would recommend here.
