Terrible smoke smell, overbooked, wasn’t given right room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I booked a king room, city view, non smoking, as was placed in a double room, hill view, and it reeked of smoke. The front desk did nothing to remedy the situation. We ended up cancelling other nights and going elsewhere.

old hotel, not really a luxury hotel, smelly room, good views and good breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The hotels location, breakfast and pool views are good! The specific room we stayed in was old, and more problematic issue was the mildew smell that was pervasive. Even after we got home, our unworn clean clothing smelled of the room. We asked for a different room, but the only room available was near the street which might have noise issues.

Charged $220 for Parking Without Any Warning – Very Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I was very disappointed to be charged $220 for parking without any prior notice. The hotel never mentioned any parking fee at check-in or on the website. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and left a very bad impression.

Great location, but poor by Hyatt standards.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The location, the awesome view from our bedroom window, the cleanliness of our room, the brilliant valet parking guys, and the great staff serving at breakfast moved this review from a 2 star to a 3 star. Frankly, a Hyatt hotel should do better. Especially when booking for 3 rooms and 5 adults (no small children). Yes, as per other reviews, the rooms can be a bit noisy at night - but to be fair it's on Sunset Blvrd one of the busiest streets in LA! They do give you ear plugs to help sleep. We deliberately booked this hotel (3 rooms across 2 nights including breakfast) based on other reviews, the fact it had a roof top pool, and a restaurant we could eat in on the first night as we were arriving after a long journey. Let's deal with the pool first: Day 1 arrival late afternoon: pool found to be closed - a note was left in the rooms explaining this was due to a private function. Went to the restaurant, and despite empty tables, was bluntly told 'you cant sit there', and directed to dirty tables by the bar. Only 1 person serving, who seemed incredibly stressed - We left and went out. Day 2: After a day exploring the city, returned to find pool and bar closed at 6 due to another private event, and in any case, all of the sunbeds were being cleared away to make way for Yoga at the poolside the following morning. Day 3 (our day of checking out to fly home): Saturday morning Yoga taking place in pool area until 9:30am, sunbeds eventually appeared again by 10:30. And those lovely cabanas on the roof - you have to book those using a QR code fixed to the side of them, or be moved on. In summary: We stayed in numerous hotels on our trip, and this one is poor by Hyatt standards. The attention to detail, customer service and delivery, just wasn't up to the standard of the other hotels we stayed in on our trip to California. Pool tends to get booked, and closed, for private occasions. Choose to eat dinner somewhere else. On checkout, I raised my points to the receptionist and was simply told to leave a review - so here you are. Would we stay there again?.... Sorry guys, there are plenty of excellent hotels in the area.

Great West Hollywood Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I really liked this hotel in West Hollywood. Big, clean rooms. Walking distance to some good food. Not far from Melrose Avenue for shopping. A solid stay if you are looking to explore this area.
