Hidden gem!

Everything about this place is first rate. I’ve stayed at some of the best lodges/resorts in the world, and this is among the top. Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, food was Michelin star worthy. Craft cocktails, the other guests were engaging interesting and fun. On site fly shop staffed before dinner can get you whatever you need for your next days fishing and to review plans. The fishing was amazing, the guy tailors the days activities to the skill level and goals of the guests. I wanted to catch a lot of fish when I first got there so we went to the Madison River outside the park and had a great day, catching a lot of medium to smaller sized fish. The next day, my wife, who has not fly fished much wanted to have a good day so he took us to his secret spot where she outfished me for the morning (I caught up later, whew) in an absolutely gorgeous setting. She had a fantastic massage in the morning in our room in the afternoon while I kept fishing. She also took a full day guided tour into Yellowstone with Amy, who was amazing. On my final day, the guide took me into the park on Labor Day, so we left real early. Amazingly, and I can’t believe this as I write this, no crowds, had a chance to get amazing wolf pictures on our way to the fishing site, then spent the day fishing on the Yellowstone river and didn’t see a single other fisherman. Was able to sight cast on a single dry flag to some real monsters and had an amazing day. Lindy, the owner, is super attentive and engaged in every guest’s experience.

Outstanding! Like coming home!

We've fished Montana for every year for the last fifteen years. This last week was our fifth consecutive year at Firehole. We enjoy meeting there with a group including both lifelong friends and our adult children. The fishing, accommodations and dining all continue to be outstanding. More important is the fact that Lindy creates an environment that feels like a family homecoming. The staff is welcoming and warm. We see familiar faces among both guests and staff each year. The high return rate of both guests and staff probably say more about the experience than we could hope to express in any review.

Bucket List Trip for Fly Fishing Enthusiasts!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 1, 2023

This is a bucket-list trip for epic fly fishing in a stunning setting along with gourmet food and wine and well-appointed cabins. Firehole Ranch has well-earned every accolade. The guides (Hunter in my case) are awesome people, very knowledgable, rabid to put you on great fish and, above all, patient! Staff, including the owner, work hard to meet your every need -- in most cases without ever asking. Food is top notch, the weekly BBQ is magnificent, and the wine and custom cocktails are as good as any place in a major city. A max of 20 guests or so make this a very relaxed experience. But it books up fast! Run don't walk to Firehole Ranch

Another great trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed December 2, 2022

Great accommodations, great food, great fishing, secluded location. Couldn't ask for more. The cookout was fabulous. Our fishing guide, Chris King, was great again. Fishing the Henry's Fork and the Madison never disappoint.

The negative reviews are spot-on

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed November 3, 2022

I read many reviews before my stay at Firehole Ranch. After my time there, I do believe the few negative reviews available online should be carefully considered before booking a stay here. The location is beautiful but being on a lake and having to take a boat across the lake before and after fishing does limit the time one can fish. The staff is very accommodating and my guide was fantastic. The food is very good. Those who have noted issues with the seating arrangements at dinner are spot-on. My first night, traveling solo, I was seated at a table by myself. I was expected to sit through a 100 minute dinner by myself. Fortunately the couple at the table next to me took pity on me and invited me to join them. My comments to the management about this situation were not responded to. Firehole Ranch is extremely pricey. My impression is that selects for certain clientele. I've had a much better experience with fellow guests at other fishing lodges.
