We go skiing in Whistler every year and usually stay in Blackcomb. This year, we decided to switch things up and stay in Whistler Village at the Westin. While the hotel isn't luxurious as the Fairmont or the Four Seasons, it does offer better distance to the village. Staying in Whistler Village made it easier to get around on foot and enjoy everything the village has to offer. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a lovely view of the gondola. Despite being just steps from the gondola, it was surprisingly quiet, and we slept very well. The room also had a kitchenette, which was really convenient on days we didn’t feel like dining out. The restaurant was decent, and having a Starbucks in the lobby was a nice touch. Ski equipment rental was located right downstairs in the hotel, which made everything incredibly convenient. The pool area was beautiful, with both indoor and outdoor sections. We also enjoyed the spa, although the air conditioning was a bit too cold making it harder to fully relax. Overall, the best thing about this hotel is definitely the location, and while it’s not ultra luxurious, it’s a very nice place to stay.

Good: Location, the outside heated pool, the concierge service, the breakfast food selection. Bad: Sauna and steam bath small and loud, little unsupervised kids coming in and out, no quiet relaxation area. Ski rental extremely expensive, for one week as much as new skis. Restaurant requires credit card secured reservation from hotel guests, service with alternating quality, often very noisy. Staff in general with alternating attitudes towards customers.

We did not like the hotel at all. The rooms are pathetically small and the furniture is falling apart. There was no recognition of our Bonvoy Titanium status, so be aware of that. Overall, I would rather not go back ever. There are many other places that are far superior for the money...

Stayed for 4 nights in a one bedroom suite for a conference with family tagging along. Historically, this conference has been held in another Whistler hotel and I hope the conference switches back next year. I think if you haven’t stayed in another Whistler hotel, the Westin Whistler can meet your needs. However, given the conference rate was more than the other hotel and the Westin offered less, it was an ok stay. Westin doesn’t seem to offer good conference rates and only for the most basic room. The pros: - Close proximity to the lifts. - Quick access to the village. - Kitchenette for making snacks. - Conference food was good. The cons: - Shower stall is tiny, about 60 cm x 60 cm. - The “heavenly bed” ceases to be heavenly of days past. I didn’t find the bed all that comfortable and slept poorly in spite in the physical exhaustion from skiing. The duvet is still fluffy, but the mattress is not plush and the pillows leave a lot to be desired. - The pool amenities are inadequate for the size of the hotel. Only two hot tubs and the pool is cold. Since the pool is cold, children often play in the hot tub but that is not ideal given the size. There are no hooks to hang your belongings and no drink service. - Ski valet incurs an extra charge and they only store skis. You have to keep your boots and poles in your room. Attendants are only at the base between 2-4 pm to collect skis so you have to carry your skis back at other times. - No festive atmosphere. The common areas feel very stale. We enjoyed our trip, but I think Westin can do more than just be merely adequate.
