The restaurant buffet is one of the best in Canada imo. It’s a chaotic lobby though during peak season. The rooms are too basic and lacking design details

The property is in a great location. This was our first stay in Whistler and what an adorable village! We chose this Westin because I’m elite gold with Bonvoy and usually love Westins and love to book through Bonvoy. Upon check-in, we were assigned 501. We were initially happy with the “upgrade” but upon entering we realized right away that the bedroom (and bed) were backed right up to the elevator. We could not only hear it but we could actually feel it. So we lugged our luggage back to the front desk (we were in the East building which was a haul), and explained it wouldn’t work for us. They apologized and assigned us 755 in the west tower. The room and bedding smelled like a wet dog and/or a pet store. We were tired of moving so I was going to let this go. Next morning, I stepped into the shower that was completely clogged up so I was standing in a full basin of water in this tiny shower. It was disgusting. We were in a hurry to get back to Vancouver so my husband opted not to use the nasty shower. When I checked out, I mentioned the horrible smell and the shower. The girl just asked if I called to have it fixed?? We were checking out. No, we didn’t have time to have it fixed. It shouldn’t have been broken in the first place. I also asked if there were any rooms/floors etc… that were dog free? She informed me that the entire property was dog friendly. Don’t get me wrong, we love dogs but we don’t travel with ours and we choose to have a fresh smelling hotel room when we travel. We’ve been to many dog friendly hotels but they usually have select rooms that don’t allow dogs. It was not a restful night and we won’t be back to this particular Westin. The front desk girl did offer to comp our parking but other than that, she seemed put out. Not sure if she did comp us because everything is still pending but I feel like that is the least they could do.

We love this hotel. It is one of our favourites in Whistler and have been coming here many times a year for over 15 years so we are very familiar with all aspects of the property. I am sharing this review in hopes to create some discussion amongst the hotel management to change back the pool deck back to how it has always been in past which is serviced by the Firerock! We used to love our summers sitting out on the upper pool deck enjoying food and cocktails served to us by the amazing Firerock staff! They have since changed that and now the patio is serviced by a QR code and the food/drink brought out in a paper bag with someone dressed like they just came out of the back kitchen and cold with no personality. No one walks around to take your drink order, chat and say hello or come and clean up the garbage. I can't imagine how much revenue has been lost in food and beverage sales with this change. It feels cold and not up to the amazing standards we are used to. Our friends who are also staying here were absolutely shocked there was no personable pool service. And if you want a drink or food at the Firerock tables (just next to your pool chair) you have to order separate through them. It was not a seamless experience and makes it very confusing for new visitors. The pool deck at this hotel already lacks in space, and taking away the pool service just makes it feel unwelcoming, cold and less than a 4 star experience. The one big blessing is we saved a ton of money by bringing our own beverages up to the pool deck which we have never done in the past. So there is definitely that. :) Also we love the idea that there are corn hole games right outside the front of the hotel by the Firerock patio. Such a great idea and we loved watching families and kids enjoy! We suggest moving those games a bit further from the Firerock patio though as we watched people last night get so annoyed with a large family playing the game right where they were trying to relax and enjoy a cocktail with friends. You could see the look of annoyance in their eyes and we had lunch there and felt same. Couldn't hear yourself think with the bean bags being thrown right beside you. Fabulous idea to have out there but do move it away from the lounge. Thanks again for a lovely stay as always! The valet, bellhops, and Firerock staff have become friends and we love it here. Highly recommend staying here for its location and look forward to the renovations and it becoming an even better hotel and experience.

We stayed 3 nights at this property in Whistler, we’d booked a studio room and were upgraded to a two room suite which was fantastic! The room had a full kitchen and we were able to get groceries in Squamish on the way into Whistler. Coin operated laundry is available on each floor (one set of washer/dryer for about 18 rooms) which was perfect for us and I didn’t not find the laundry to be busy or inaccessible. This property is located in Whistler Village and within 300 meters of the ski lifts and most restaurants, so it’s convenient but also on the edge of the village so it was nice and quiet as we were not facing any of the restaurants with loud live music or the hundreds of people crowding into the village in the evening. Self and valet parking available ($$). Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Perfect spot to stay and relax while being able to cook your own meals, if you wish, do some laundry and still be in the heart of everything.
