The Kind of Stay That Keeps You Loyal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Opus Westchester, Autograph Collection From the moment we walked in, The Opus Westchester delivered exactly what you’d hope for from a property in the Autograph Collection. Thoughtful design, an atmosphere that feels both polished and welcoming, and a level of service that actually lives up to the five-star designation. The property itself is stunning. The lobby sets an immediate tone of sophistication without feeling cold, the rooms were immaculate and well-appointed, and the whole experience felt curated rather than cookie-cutter. But the real standout of our stay was Vanessa at the front desk. We were traveling from out of state with our kids, our son is heading to university nearby so this trip was a big deal for our family, and Vanessa made it feel special in a way we honestly didn’t expect. She was so thoughtful and warm with the kids, the kind of genuine care you simply can’t train someone to have. She made all of us feel truly welcome, not just like another check-in, and handled everything with a calm professionalism that reminded us why we’ve been loyal Bonvoy members for as long as we have. Marriott, please recognize this woman. As long-standing Bonvoy members who have stayed at properties across the portfolio, we know exceptional service when we experience it. Vanessa is exactly the kind of person who defines a brand. We will be back every time we visit our son and honestly, she’s a big part of why. Highly recommend The Opus Westchester, especially for families visiting the area.

Work Trip - hotel service not as good - sorry

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I come here for business many time and always stay here - but this time I am sorry to say that the stay was not as good as before - firstly they have CLOSED BAR and RESTURANT you can only have breakfast there at 7am and that is if you are lucky that they turn up at 7am to serve the time I was there they opened they said there is no chef and it won't be till 8am even then it wasn't until 8.30 they opened - only found out when someone told us when we were there a 7am. when asked reception why they closed bar and restaurant I couldn't really get a straight answer and it has been like this for MONTHS - only they are doing something and couldn't really say what they were doing. they have not even put it on there website - this would have made me decide if I wanted to stay or not - also no idea what happened to the taps in the bathroom - I had 2 sinks and both of them were HOT & HOT it must of been a morning thing as the afternoon it seem to have been oksih I did tell reception and no idea if it was fixed as when I asked they said they didn't know etc so I asked again - and even then they didn't even tell me if it was fixed. On check out again the was lack of service never even asked about my stay - etc. On a final note we are back again in June and I have no idea what is going on there but on a sat they have the cheek to charge $5000 for ONE NIGHT yet all the other nights are normal pricing - I hope the room is made of gold for that price!!! overall OPUS I am sorry you service has gone down hill a lot - the only decent thing is the room and the gym - and that is all so you should lower your prices if you can't offer the full service - of a bar - yes I know you have the steak place attached but if you just want a quiet section there is no where to sit to do that. I will be reconsidering my stay next time I am over in White Plains - I may be going elsewhere.

Disappointed about the lower standard of accommodations.

It was disappointing to see Marriott pull the Ritz Carlton Flag. They’ve degraded the service in line with the lower tier Marriott level. It’s not bad, but it’s far from a Ritz. I wonder how the people who bought adjacent Ritz Carlton Tower Residences feel about the vsluemdeclinemofmthrnhimes now no longer affiliated with a Ritz Property. They left the name on the apartments, but….its not the same. And for how long a?

Had a great stay!

Our executive suite room was very nice, and the on-premesis spa is great! Attached restaurant Red Horse has some very nice offerings on the menu as well, and it’s close to tons of conveniences in downtown White Plains. Check them out!

Service so mixed...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The hotel is well maintained and the rooms are large. The pillows all need replacement, as they are pretty beat up over time. But what is so unimpressive is the service inside (valet great). Our first morning, we ordered room service, but it turns out the woman taking orders isn't actually in the room service kitchen. They could not make a latte as she shared that she "thought" the machine was "still broken." After about 20 minutes, she called back to share that they were out of the muffins we ordered, and we swapped in croissants. After an hour, our order had still not come, so we cancelled, and she seemed surprised--the hotel was not full nor that busy. The second morning when I went for coffee service downstairs, they don't have a milk alternative for anyone lactose intollerant, and the front desk attendant said he could not help. So I went to the lobby-adjacent quick serve restraunt and asked the two men at the bar, and they would not provide 2oz of oat milk, sitting behind the bar as they said "we are separate." Going back to the front desk I asked for the manager, and the front desk gentlemen said the managers were out, and that he could not help "because of the union." I again appealed to the two men in the restaurant and they said they would have to charge me $4! I went back to the front desk to ask if he could get something from room service, and he said I would have to be charged. 3 rooms for 2 nights and I cannot get complimentary oat milk for my wife??? SO STARBUCKS IT IS!...and a different hotel next time.
