About the Hotel

Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle because of its lush green landscape, but within Ireland, there is a county known as the oegarden of Ireland”. An oases within a paradise, County Wicklow, on the eastern shore, is kept temperate by the gulf stream, and is home to Ireland(TM)s greatest gardens. Call one of these gracious gardens home, if only temporarily, when you stay at Tinakilly Country House and Restaurant. Set at the end of oak-lined avenue, Tinakilly House is enveloped by seven acres of pleasure gardens overlooking the Irish Sea and Broadlough Coastal Lagoon. The stunning sea views, romantic gardens, grand old house and surrounding hinterland of Tinakilly captures the essence of Irish country living to delightful perfection.

Still lovely but not perfect.

Recently stayed here for 1 night to celebrate it being 15 years since my wife and I got married here. We also stayed the same time 5 years ago for our 10th. The place has changed a lot since we got married and mostly for the good. It still retains that old fashioned charm. Our room was a bit dated but very clean and spacious and we had a lovely view of the grounds. The service we received overall was excellent. We booked dinner for that evening and the food was exceptional. My only gripe was the room that served dinner and also breakfast the next morning. It was all very dark and subdued which wasn't helped by the amount of foliage outside. We also did not understand the way that the room was dressed, it was all a bit too eclectic with all the 'random themed ' pictures deliberately not hung straight which went against our need for order, symmetry and balance. It reminded us of the restaurant chain in the UK called The Lounges which is very popular, but it didn't seem appropriate in a "Country" Hotel like this. All in all we still love this place and no doubt will again make the trip over to Ireland again and stay here for our 20th Wedding

Wonderful Staff

I’m not actually staying in Tinakilly House, but I felt compelled to write a review after an experience that genuinely restored my faith in people. I’m currently staying at a nearby glamping site and realised I had forgotten an important cable for a projector I’d planned to use for my girlfriend’s birthday. A bit stressed, I called into the hotel on the off chance they might be able to help. The two ladies at reception were absolutely incredible. They didn’t just fob me off and send me on my way — they went above and beyond. They spent a good 15–20 minutes checking, asking around, and doing everything they could to try and find a solution for me. They were kind, patient, and genuinely cared about helping a complete stranger. With everything going on in the world, the war in Iran, Lebanon, Ukraine — and even here in Ireland at the moment, fuel shortages, blockades etc, it’s easy to forget how much simple kindness matters. This was a reminder that there are still genuinely good people out there who will go out of their way to help others. Those two women are a real credit to Tinakilly House. Their warmth and willingness to help left a lasting impression on me, and I just wanted to make sure that doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you again, you made a stressful situation a lot brighter. Awful breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Disappointing. It's a beautiful house and our bedroom was very comfortable with a great view, the bar is very comfortable also with an excellent barman. The dinner however was average at best (I had the duck) and considering the price (299 eur for the night including breakfast and dinner) it is, by some margin, the worst hotel breakfast I've ever had. Luke warm weak coffee, a single chip shop style sausage, 2 fatty cheap rashers badly cooked, an unpleasant egg and the worst mushrooms I've ever had. It's not that difficult to cook a good breakfast - it's not as if the hotel was jammed either. I've had better breakfast in the terminal 1 at the airport.

Missing bag

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

Very upset with staff and managment having abslutley no interest in helping me retrieve my designer bag that i miss placed at the venue while attending a private family wedding! Couple of weeks later after me ringing and emailing with very little correspondence except that it hasnt turned up only leads me to believe it to be stolen! I asked have they cameras wher the bag was left and said yes but have not bothered to check or return my call very poor! The bag was also of sentimental value! I would have thought they would like to resolve the issue as its not a good look by any means for tinikilly......

Breakfast is crap and staff untrained and rude

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

The attitude of multiple staff members was rude bordering on hostile, woken up in the middle of the night by a rude man searching for who was setting off a fire alarm The breakfast was the worst hotel breakfast we have had, small portions of cheap quality poorly cooked. Had to ask for coffee five times! Building is beautiful but avoid at all costs
