We booked this through a well-known travel website (RTC) where the deal included bed, breakfast, and a spa treatment each. There was also meant to be a box of chocolates in the room, but there was no sign of this. The highlight was definitely the Spa treatment. Michelle, the therapist, was wonderful. Very skilled and professional as well as being friendly. Unfortunately it was downhill from there. The weather was nice but we couldn't sit outside due to a very obvious wasp problem and the liklihood of a nest nearby. It became unbearable, so we moved inside. I understand this is no one's fault, but a can of wasp spray is cheap. The service in the bar was good, but the food was average at best. Later on in the evening I ordered a passionfruit martini which wasn't drinkable. I brought it back and was told "we ran out of some of the key ingredients so we substituted them" I found this really strange! Not really acceptable at €15 each and dangerous if there are allergies etc. The room was ok, Comfortable and clean but needs a bit of an upgrade (limescale on sink etc) We went to breakfast at 9am and were left sitting there with no tea/coffee or water for about 35 minutes. Lots of staff running around but no one really seemed to know what they were doing. We had to ask for coffee 3 times until I physically followed a staff member and waited to make sure she got it. There seems to be a real lack of training or interest. There were no bowls or plates to be seen, and when they did appear, it was a mass surge from all the guests who seemed to be as confused as we were. Food ran out within 2 minutes, and there was no sign of it being replenished. I managed to bag two sausages before we gave up. I believe there is a wedding there today, so it's busy, but in my opinion, it's no excuse for poor service or quality. It's a shame as the grounds are beautiful, but we won't be returning.

Prepare for an early morning call with lawnmower noise in the summer. It's a very small restaurant upstairs but a nice feeling to it. Shame our dinner was ruined by extremely loud, drunk, rude golfers from the north... Read the room and relax and enjoy a peaceful dinner chatting NOT shouting and laughing extremely loudly for all to hear. Shame no management quietened them down politely as everyone (other staff included) were getting annoyed at their vulgar nature and very vulgar language also. Shame it ruined a lovely night away.

Really enjoyed our recent break in this hotel Lovely spacious rooms Bar for food at lunch time and evening was a great option Only one thing - breakfast wasn't warm but this was easily rectified by popping back to microwave. All in all a lovely stay.

Really lovely hotel in a stunning location. Ideal for Golfers. We had availed of an' all in' offer including spa treatments. It was very relaxing and our treatments were wonderful. We did not stay for dinner but we had a small lunch and breakfast. The food was lovely. The breakfast didn't have many vegetarian type options, eg. I would have liked mushrooms and tomatoes as well with a fry up. But there were nice continental choices and beautiful jams and pastries. The room was huge and very comfortable. We want to go back in the Autumn when the trees are turning their colours and to see the lakes again.
