Like the rainbow-hued houses in Curaçao's UNESCO World Heritage site capital, Baoase Luxury Resort embraces color in its five-star villas and rooms. Rich wood and jewel-toned accents make the transition from the king-sized bedroom to an airy patio surrounded by lush botanical gardens, creating a sense of peaceful continuity.

The hotel is beautiful. I just don’t see what all the amazing reviews are about. I’ve been to many luxury resorts in carribean (parrot cay, Nevis, little dix bay, cap jaluca, four seasons Anguilla etc) and this doesn’t even come close to the beauty of the other resorts. There is minimal beach. The hotel has few amenities. The pool is not existent. We are here from July 3-6. I think this is the most overhyped hotel experience I have ever had. The service is good. Nothing extraordinary. Trying to understand the appeal…

Wow wow wow what an incredible resort From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIPs - the suite they put us in was just incredible and we are very grateful :-) The breakfast was outstanding every detail is covered and the staff go above and beyond It is definitely not an inexpensive place to stay but we felt like we were in paradise for the 3 days we stayed We hope one day to return thank you to everyone who looked after us so well :-)

We did a lot of research before our trip to Curacao and were torn between this property and a couple of others. We decided to visit all three, so we could experience different vibes and parts of the island. This one was by far, our favorite and its reputation is well earned. Having said that, there were a few things that weren't quite worthy of the "world's best" status. The positives: If you are a person who appreciates aesthetics, this place really feels like a magical oasis. It's just off a main road, but once you are inside the resort it's visually stunning. Everywhere you look there is carefully curated beauty. Most of the service we experienced was top notch. Friendly and attentive, but not pretentious. The beachside cabanas have call buttons for butler service, which is a fun little perk. Note: you don't have to pay for this which you do at Sandals. Luddy was especially helpful, kind and made our time memorable. One of our hesitations about this property is that we assumed the food would be fussy. It isn't. It was the best food we had on the island. Creative, inspired and delicious. Mealtime is not to be rushed and it's truly an experience. The kitchen sends out complimentary small snacks to beachgoers a couple times a day, which we looked forward to. The beach is smaller than it looks in the photos, but offers a nice protection from the windy, rough waters of the open ocean. We never saw people hunting for chairs and there is ample space, so you never feel crowded. We appreciated that they kayaks and floats for use. My husband would have liked paddleboards too. A couple things we felt could be improved upon: We really got the runaround from the reservations department when we tried to book packages offered on their website. It felt a bit like a bait and switch and their website should really be more clear that the packages are meant as last minute deals. We also observed quite a few guests being loud on their phones at the restaurant and acting rather entitled with the staff at the beach. During one of our meals, three different guests had their phones on speaker for the entire duration of lunch. None of the staff politely asked them to stop. There is a bit of a vibe that seems to cater to the guests who perhaps are spending the most money. It's subtle, but noticeable. Our time here was the highlight of our trip and we hope to be Baoased again someday.

Service was mediocre at best for the most expensive resort on the island. I heard I'm sorry for the inconvenience too many times. Found a roach in our room. Had a board break in our shower that led to an injury. After notifying the office about the injury we asked for ice and it took them 2 hours to bring it. Broken tile in our shower as well. We also sent numerous messages through Whatsapp they claimed didn't go through. We were told we would have access to heat our leftover food from off the resort on our first day. Ended up throwing away hundreds of dollars worth of food because they later told us they couldn't reheat outside food with a sorry for the inconvenience. Only one of our room air conditioners was working as well.

We stayed at Baoase for 6 nights, and it was a great experience. We stayed at a 3-bedroom villa with a pool and an exterior veranda, which we enjoyed a lot. The attention to detail was superb. We added all the meal plans, and it was totally worth it. We are a family of four, my husband, our two sons, 29 years and 19 years old, and me, and we enjoyed the resort, the beach was just perfect, the sand has a pink hue which is beautiful, the food, and the service were wonderful. We would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed vacation.
