The Grand York

Fantastic hotel; staff were all incredibly friendly, helpful & attentive; food was amazing & absolutely superb room. Also really handy location.

Stayed at the Grand on our wedding weekend and it was perfect. Not cheap but the service is top notch. Rooms are great and the staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful.

Wonderful views of york cleanliness is the best i have seen and ive been to few hotels no noise disturbance at all the service is above and beyond all expectation atmosphere is calm soft friendly amenities are good definatly worth what i paid rooms are stunning beds are comfy bathrooms have the perfect lighting wifi is reliable staff are kind helpful and mindful this is the best hotel i have ever stayed in

The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. Lakiyah who helped us organise our event was brilliant and the staff from the guys on the door to the serving team, the lovely guy who put my flowers on the table so beautifully.. every single thing was perfect.. so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We even had a bottle of champagne sent to our room as we got married at the registry office on Saturday. Totally unexpected and a beautiful touch to our day. We really would like to say thank you to everyone who helped to make our stay and memories so perfect. We’ll be back. X

The grand York, lovely older hotel with fantastic staff who really do there best to look after you, especially the door staff and valet Parker’s and also the rise waiting on team However we were very disappointed with the room ( suite) I booked a ‘Grand Heritage Suite’ as a treat for us as the pictures on the website looked so good, so my wife and I were expecting to be ‘wowed’, unfortunately we were not, we stayed in room( suite) 302, although large and clean the lounge area of the suite remained largely unused by us as the old gold drylon settee in there ( which looked like is was plucked straight out of the seventies!) was rock hard and lumpy and was the most uncomfortable thing we’ve ever sat on and frankly should be skipped. The suite had 2 bathrooms one with sink, shower and we ( lots of mould under the sink and you could not get hot water from the taps just cold or Luke warm, the shower had very low pressure and also would just get just warm enough but not hot, also the towel radiator in this room was loose on the wall.the second bathroom was okay and had a bath and sink but no wc which seems like an oversight. The bedroom was large and clean but we found the bed to be uncomfortable ( we prefer a slightly less firm mattress but others may find it okay) good pillows though, but the room was quite dark with only a small window with an amazing view of the roof of the NCP carpark! Wow what more could we want! We ate in the rise restaurant which was okay on the first night and much better in the second night, but avoid the sticky toffee pudding because it really isn’t a sticky toffee pudding ( tiramisu was great though) We had booked into the spa but cancelled as all we really wanted was a swim and the swimming pool has gone leaving just the jacuzzi spa pool ( we are not spa people) The valet parking was great So in conclusion Hotel location 5* Hotel staff 5* Valet parking 5* Rise restaurant 4* Grand Heritage suite ( room 302) 3* This was our first visit to the grand and due to the inferior room we are unlikely to return, I’m sure there are better suites as per the website photos but they should all be to the same standard Sorry if this is a bit rant, but we paid quite a lot of money to be disappointed
