Birthday weekend stay
Our experience in this hotel from start to finish was superb. From the valet parking driver, the porters, the receptionist and our room was lovely. It was for a special birthday weekend and did not disappoint in any way. A special shout out to Abbi who my husband liaised with about the arrangements and a birthday cake and also to Brianna and Jack in the restaurant and the night manager Brian who helped us when we had a problem with our blind in the room.. All the staff were lovely that we met. We stayed in one of the suites and it was excellent. We hope to revisit again soon.

Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel Visted the grand as we had family friends staying there. Great hotel and staff. Came across Matilda in the hall way as we were a bit lost. She then escorted us and also gave a brief history about the hotel which was very interesting to know. She did give us some suggestions on places to visit and the Yorvik viking centre was really a good experience.My friends enjoyed the dinner at the rise. All in all great hotel and staff. Cheers

Very enjoyable experience at The Grand
Really enjoyed staying for B&B at The Grand, York. Fantastic location to walk into York town centre, staff very friendly, rooms and cleanliness of the Hotel excellent. Breakfast very good, we also booked for a meal in the restaurant which was excellent. Would definitely recommend to friends and family, we also managed to get a 30% discount as there was an offer available at the time of our visit!

Grand gripes
This isn't a 5 star hotel, it may have ticked all the organisation boxes but for me the customer it isn't 5 star. For some examples in my room the room telephone doesn't work wasn't even plugged in. To use the TV you need a degree, no apps unless you have the time to scan the bar code and link it to your phone or tablet, if you can get it to work, why, other hotels don't, no satellite channels. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel these are some of the things we pay for. Sort it Grand.

Excellent fine dining
Stayed 2 nights to try tge tasting menu at the legacy restaurant. Service from Jamie (wine) and Samuel (food) exceptional. Asked lots of detailed questions and got answers every time. Food excellent but no room left for what looked like a very interesting cheese course
