We enjoyed our stay overall, particularly the hotel’s beautiful old-world character and elegant décor. Our room was large and comfortable, with a very comfortable bed, and the L’Occitane toiletries were a lovely touch. The minibar was also well stocked for guests who wish to use it, and the hotel is in a good location. There were, however, a few areas that could be improved. Only one of the two elevators was operational during our stay, and the elevator system was somewhat inconvenient as it did not distinguish between requests going up and down. Unfortunately, the stairs could not be accessed from level 2 downwards, which made the elevator situation more frustrating. We also found it difficult to navigate the hotel at times, particularly when trying to locate facilities such as the gym and sauna. Another issue was the music being played in the hallways. It could clearly be heard from our room late at night and again very early in the morning, which was disruptive and not ideal for a hotel environment. We also experienced an issue with the breakfast charge, where we were initially overcharged. I do appreciate that the hotel ultimately rectified the issue, and I am grateful for that, but it did require me to follow up and stand my ground before the matter was resolved. It was an unnecessary inconvenience, particularly given that we had already clarified the breakfast arrangements with staff. Overall, this is a hotel with a lot of charm, character and some lovely touches, but there are several operational and communication issues that could be addressed to make the experience more seamless.

We very much enjoyed our stay in the hotel - a beautiful, classic hotel with great character. The staff offer genuine quality service and it is overall excellent value for money

I stayed here for the European Gymnastics championships for 10 days . The first thing I noticed was I slept very well every single night which is unusual . The beds are great . The staff from Edem at the door to every staff member in the bar/ restaurant were engaging and professional. People had a sense of humour . the hotel is in a great location, the bathrooms are big, the food is good ( I would add more options to the bar menu) and this grand hotel is clean and sparkling.

My stay was on my FOMO, YOLO bucket list and did not disappoint! The Esplanade lives up to its historic grandeur and reputation. It's a one Michelin Key, five-star property with impeccable service, iconic style, and fabulous food. This is Zagreb's finest—a must-stay!

The hotel tries to give you a luxury experience, but misses the mark. First, staff are generally cold or distant, and their service is not consistent. Eg concierge took our luggages inside, but then did not offer to take them to our room, and they randomly opened doors for guests or not. We got a cot on request, but the cot was very old and not fit for a hotel. We got a kettle on request to warm our baby’s food, the kettle couldn’t be used as if caused electrical short in the room. You can do in-room service by downloading an app, which had bugs and could not be consistently used. In short: don’t expect exceptional service
