Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

Amazing staff at the reception/ conciergerie and breakfast. The live piano first thing in the morning is an infinite delight.

At first, I was excited to dine at the Lusi terrace restaurant. I dined with my wife and son. We were polite, well-spoken and well-dressed. The first words out of the captain's mouth were what room we were in. We were staying at the OTHER five-star hotel. When we so stated, we were treated very poorly. The service was atrocious. That was too bad, since the food was above-par for the area, but spoiled by the horrendous attitudes. It took almost an HOUR to get our check, which contained a 24 CF (almost $30 US) for one bottle of water, which we did NOT order! Considering their bad attitudes, I suspected that the "mistake" was no mistake. It took another 30 minutes to remove this over-charge. Again, too bad, because a bit of pleasantries would have made this a better experience. If you want to be treated like trash, with very slow service, at more than premium prices and an inflated bill, take your chances. Otherwise I would recommend staying away.

We had the worst experience in the terasse restaurant. I have been coming to this place every year and was very disappointed with the service and the food. We ordered the chicken burger and the chicken not cooked and was red when explained to maitre de that the chicken was not cooked he simply took the plate didn’t apologise or even asked if he should bring another plate. He was actually angry with us for eating part of the chicken and then telling us that why did we not ask him to take back the chicken and cook it more. Not sure who eats raw chicken and needs to specifically ask for it to be cooked more!!! Finally after extensive discussion and still without apologising begrudgingly he removed the charge for that burger from our bill. For sure I am not going back.

Nice room with an incredible Matterhorn view. Service is attentive and prompt. Food was very good. The spa was closed for our entire visit…big miss. A horse drawn carriage to to the hotel is the only way to arrive!

Loved this hotel. The staff were super nice and helpful. They also seemed really happy to be working there, which is always nice to see. The hotel has old world charm and is in the centre. Great breakfast too! Clean and grand rooms.
