About the Hotel

Nestled in Oman’s dramatic Musandam Peninsula, where rugged mountains dive into vibrant emerald waters, across a powdery sand beach, the village-inspired resort in Oman offers a range of villas, suites, and beachfront retreats, each with a private pool, traditional summer house and the time and space to find yourself. There’s something for everyone at our Oman hotel, including eclectic dining featuring local and international cuisine, an award-winning spa and a plethora of unique experiences.

To truly know Oman is to know its history, ecology, and culture. Originally, the domain of Bedouin nomad, Oman’s lush northern coast lies between the sea and inland mountains and is known for its warm hospitality. So, like the brave seafarers who sailed out into the Gulf before us, let's go on our own odyssey into the Musandam's sustainability, wellness, and culture. And then come and see us to add your own chapter to our story.

Excellent time all around

We had a wonderful time - hadn’t been since 2017 but all of our expectations we exceeded. The food was very good, and varied, especially liked the pop -up in the organic garden. We were quite active - beautiful hike up the hills above Smugglers Bay was a highlight, as well as the wakeboarding and boat trips. The magic ingredient is the staff.. so attentive and friendly. We all agree we had the best GEM ;)

Exceptional and Breathtaking.....and be prepared to pay for it

Six Senses Zighy bay is breathtaking - the mountains, the resort itself and what is on offer during your stay. I admit I was a bit apprehensive about the GEM system as we have felt unnecessary harassment from other brands to try upsell, rather than just take care of you. We had Sehrish as our GEM and she was sensational. Responded immediately to all our requests, super friendly and flexible and therefore it enhanced our whole experience. We took advantage to some of the free activities available to guests, for example a hike up the mountain; breath work and tai chi session as well as yoga. The food options were great and this is where the flexibility came in, One night I didn't feel like eating the "theme" night and my husband did and they were easily able to accommodate us. The sunrise and ocean is beautiful, as are the rooms - I have read prior to our stay some thought the rooms were dated and I disagree. Rustic, well maintained with a great pool. We would definitely return to this property. And to be honest and balanced about this property is is very expensive and I didn't think it equates to value for money. We often stay at brands such as Aman, Four Seasons and Como Resorts that would be a similar price point. However these properties acknowledge that they are charging premium rates and therefore offer lovely surprises like upgrades on availability; massages; cocktails; champagne and a lot more free activities (like yoga and pilates) which they were charging extra for. We normally budget around $1000 a day for a meal with wine and extra activities and it was immediately obvious that this was not enough for Zighy Bay. We are not big eaters however an evening meal with wine was easily $600 a night. Initially I thought maybe its the exchange rate for the Middle East but then when we were in Muscat we made friends with a family who have visited Zighy Bay for 10 years in a row, but have stopped going because of the massive price hike. In summary we do recommend this hotel, but make sure your budget is healthy!

A Truly Exceptional Stay at Six Senses Zighy Bay

From start to finish, our experience at Six Senses Zighy Bay was nothing short of incredible. We had arranged a transfer from our hotel in Dubai, and the car arrived bang on time. The driver was friendly, professional, and immediately put us at ease. The vehicle itself was a huge, luxurious 4x4 stocked with thoughtful touches such as fresh lemonade, healthy snacks, and a little amenity bag for the journey. The drive took around 2.5 hours, and it was fascinating to watch the landscape transform as we left the hustle and bustle of Dubai behind. The border crossing was seamless, with our driver handling all the details. The last 30 minutes felt like something out of a sci-fi movie, the scenery was dramatic and breathtaking. The climb up the steep, winding mountain was an adventure in itself, and our driver even stopped at the top so we could take in the stunning view of Zighy Bay below. For anyone nervous about the journey, don’t be, I’m a cautious passenger and felt completely comfortable throughout. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by the team, and check-in was relaxed and fuss-free. We were introduced to our GEM (Guest Experience Manager), Taha, who truly made our stay exceptional. Taha was attentive, approachable, and always available via WhatsApp. He greeted us at breakfast each morning, checked in on our plans, and handled dinner reservations effortlessly. Our villa (number 4) was beautiful. Immaculately cleaned daily and equipped with everything we needed. The bathroom was stunning, and the location offered great privacy at the far end of the beach. While not technically beachfront, it felt like it. We were also close to the spa and gym, which we used frequently. Bikes were provided for getting around, and cycling through the sandy paths was a fun little workout each day. Dining was a highlight. On our first night, we tried the beach BBQ buffet. The food was excellent and plentiful, and the setting was magical. Across the resort, the food quality was consistently high, though we noticed the team at Spice Market was less engaging compared to the lively, chatty staff at the beach BBQ and Summer House. Breakfast was so plentiful and delicious and a wonderfully relaxed start to each day. The spa was another standout. We enjoyed several treatments which were all booked and carefully arranged by the kind Veronica. The Hammam experience was unforgettable, both for the setting and the care provided. My therapist, Asha, was wonderful and made me feel completely looked after. My husband had the same treatment and was equally well looked after by Jomay. Special mentions also go to Neha (who served us at dinner), Turim at Summer House, and Lara at Spice Market (I believe she’s been there for 12 years!). But Taha truly made our holiday, his friendly, informal approach was perfect. Someone who clearly has great passion for his work. We’ve been fortunate to visit some incredible resorts over the years, and Zighy Bay ranks in our top two. I would return without hesitation. Yes, it’s expensive, however the quality and attention to detail justify it. The setting is pure “no shoes, no fuss” luxury, laid-back and authentic, without glitz or glamour. If I had one tiny critique, it would be the bed and bedding. I expected something a little more luxurious given the standard elsewhere. But honestly, that’s a minor point in an otherwise faultless stay. In summary: Six Senses Zighy Bay is a destination that delivers on every level. If you’re considering it, don’t let the journey put you off, it’s part of the adventure, and the reward at the end is spectacular.

Perfect and dreaming about returning!

The most beautiful resort I’ve ever stayed in. Our beach front villa was stunning and the sun rises with the sound of the ocean have us desperate to get booked again. Staff were all lovely. Every meal was different but perfect and we really enjoyed the spa treatments. Can’t wait to go back, hopefully soon!
