Mixed review - good and not so good
The hotel is well located on the beach with a huge beachfront and great views. Our room was very well appointed and serviced with water and towels daily. The pools and beach were not crowded at all. For the price there are several things that could be improved. The gym had several pieces of equipment not working and a cockroach spotted. The staff didn’t seem too excited to be there especially he front desk. The covers and cushions at the pool and beach need a refresh and the pool couches were covered in bird crap. At least try to give them a wash daily? And the noise… the air conditioner worked great but boy was it loud. And carts going by the room all night and early morning. Squeaky carts. Also loud music until late night on Saturday. Plus everything was very expensive at the pool. Definitely for the price here, things could be improved a lot.

Really great except for the illness
Great experience right on the one of the best beaches in Mexico. Special thanks to Victor! Unfortunately we both got sick in Mexico for the first time in 25 years!

Beautiful hotel, fantastic service
The Thompson Zihua is a magical place. The setting is unparalleled—-right on the beach with plenty of chairs (so there’s no fighting over them!) and a view that can’t be beat. The pools are beautiful, also overlooking the beach, and not crowded. The staff are uniformly friendly, responsive and skilled at their jobs. From the front desk to housekeeping, maintenance, and dining services we had attentive, professional service. We would especially call out Victor in dining services, who helped us immensely when one of us got sick (eating in a different restaurant) and needed some special food and drink to calm an upset GI system. He made sure we were doing ok each day, and ensured that the kitchen could meet our needs. He went above and beyond. We hadn’t stayed at the Zihua Thompson in many years (in fact, at the time we were there it was a Viceroy). We would definitely go back.

This is our favorite place!
Francisco is amazing; so friendly and attentive. Our second time back and we always feel truly cared for. He makes every beach day effortless and relaxing. His service is unmatched and always genuine. We can’t wait to come back again because he makes the experience unforgettable.

Excellent resort on a beautiful beach
I have just returned from my 3rd stay at Thompson in Zihuatenejo. As usual it was great. It is a beautiful, small , low rise resort on a spectacular stretch of beach. The service is great, the staff are attentive, kind and seem genuinely welcoming. I had a swim up suite this time and it is great. I’d get up in the morning, put on my bathing suit . Make an espresso in the room and then jump in the pool. Zihuatenejo is still small enough to walk around in and feel totally safe as a solo woman traveller. ( taking normal, common sense precautions) I would definitely recommend it.
