Reviews for Hotel Des Indes

Accessible luxury and indulgence

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Had an awesome experience at the hotel. From check in, to spa, to assistance with activities and a wonderful breakfast. Did not feel at all stuffy or inaccessible, but definitely indulgent. Rooms and overall property were impeccable. Large, well maintained and comfortable. Perfect location to access restaurants and activities. Made our experience in the Hague wonderful. Can't say enough good things.

A memorable stay in a lovely hotel

My daughter & I stayed here during a bicycling tour of the Netherlands. The hotel was grand with lovely public spaces. Breakfast was delicious with many Dutch treats to choose from. Our room was luxurious and inviting with two vanity sinks in the bathroom which we, 2 ladies, appreciated. The hotel was located near a park and many embassies and easy walking distance to many shops. We found it a perfect stay for visiting The Hague!

A good experience in an iconic hotel (with a few minor issues).

We stayed in Hotel des Indes for two nights in a superior room during a city trip to The Hague. I knew the hotel by reputation (and it is a very nice building) but selected it mainly for its location which is excellent if you're visiting all the sights in and around The Hague (within easy walking distance of a lot of things and very near the Central Station and various tram lines). The hotel also has a pleasant atmosphere. We arrived in the late morning and were pleasantly surprised our room was ready (well before usual check-in time). May have had something to do with the fact that I called ahead to say we would arrive at that time. The room was fine without being exceptional (pretty much what you would expect from a room in a good hotel in the centre of a major city). Only a shower and one (small) sink in the bathroom, but there is only so much you can do in an older historical building. The bed slept very well. AC worked very well. Lighting could have been better. Staff were very friendly and helpful (also in the breakfast room and bar). Very nice breakfast buffet and a good selection of drinks in the bar. We didn't dine in the hotel (a lot of good options nearby). A few minor points that management might consider: -) We received a nice handwritten welcoming card in our room but this was only addressed to me (I booked the room). I would find it polite to address that to both occupants of the room. -) The room did have two small complimentary bottles of water, but the mini-bar was completely empty. One might expect a hotel of this class to fill its mini-bar, especially if one asks a credit-card security when checking in. -) Even in less luxurious hotels one does little things like leave a chocolate on the pillows after making up the bed. -) Something which is apparently remarked upon quite frequently regarding hotel and restauants in the Netherlands: Some staff (only avery few here where this was the case) will continue to speak in English with you even once you've clearly addressed them in Dutch and every possible indication is that you're a native Dutch-speaker. Frankly difficult to understand why this is. Overall a very good experience.
