What a wonderful place to stay in Fairhaven!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Our experience at the Chrysalis was the highlight of our week-long Washington trip. There was a small snafu at check-in, as they accidentally cancelled our reservation just prior to our arrival, but it was quickly rectified, and the staff was great. It's a charming boutique hotel in a great location with a few minutes walk to Fairhaven. Our water view suite was the perfect space, and we loved going for a walk on the boardwalk in the morning. Yes, there is a train that passes close to the hotel a few times during the night, and yes, it can be a bit loud. The hotel provides earplugs by the bed, but we didn't use them and didn't find it terribly disruptive.

Overpriced and underwhelmed. I suggest Hotel Bellwether.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This is an overpriced hotel with staffed untrained in the realm of 4+ star hotel etiquette. Though the hotel have provide a spa, business center and fitness center, the general experience is subpar. They do not offer complimentary water or standard vanity kit, coffee but no tea, and the mattress was subpar for this pricing. No valet service. The website does warn about the train, and they do offer ear plugs, but the train is LOUD and goes well into the early hours of the morning (3 am). Wearing the earplugs I still woke up multiple times due to noise. Do be aware that half the venue is shut to hotel guests if there is an event renting space. I checked out early. When I alerted the front desk that the daily room clean I requested at check in was never provided, the front desk pouted and said they were sorry. Pout and stared. The workers seemed like great people, and I was aware the manager was standing behind them, but that is not the way you handle hotel customer service. I had better service and staff experience (with the same bed!) at the Hilton Hampton Inn by the airport - with the exception of course of the location and venue offerings . I have reviewed and stayed at hotels worldwide for the past 5 years and found the general atmosphere of this venue unacceptable for the level of pricing and 4 star rating. Do not go here expecting a higher end hotel experience. I would highly recommend Hotel Bellwether on the other side of town.

The Room and View Worth It

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

If you are treating yourselves to a nice stay this is the place for views and comfort. The plush bay side room in which we stayed was tops. The staff were nice and the amenities convenient. A block from the free bus line we could get almost anywhere. A vacation splurge well worth taking on this trip, this Curio was a keeper.

Unexplained charges many months later

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

Tim general manager would not right a clear wrong in their system. We have been here a few times and have also brought other people as well. We enjoyed the experiences at the time but ran into a major issue with their business. 2 days ago my wife and I both got 2 random charges each from there. We haven’t been there for months. Apparently there were some alleged charges in the system that were randomly pulled out of our account. Never in my life have I gone to a store or restaurant and got random charges many months later. We went and paid our reservation and checked out and settled for any charges. It is not right for any busy to charge your card months later. Not even a heads up, just hundreds of dollars of charges they ran on our cards without any explanation. We will not be going there again and advise others to not stay here.

Fantastic setting for a special event

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 20, 2024

We celebrated our son’s and daughter-in law’s wedding here that had taken place across the country a week earlier. We invited thirty family members and close friends. Chris Caldwell, the Director of Sales, Catering and Marketing was absolutely terrific to work with. She had a lot of great suggestions that made our event so special. We had appetizers, a buffet (steak and salmon) and an open bar. It was all delicious and the berry cobbler was spectacular. The setting of the Chrysalis/Keenan’s is magical. We had four large tables set up inside and the entire terrace for mingling and admiring the sunset. It was an amazing experience.
