Beautiful views and comfortable rooms on the WA coast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beautiful hotel on the water. Yes, a train comes through at night. We found it romantic, if you think the sound might bother you just ask for a room in the back. You’d won’t get an ocean view but the stay in Fairhaven is worth it. This jewel of a hotel is walking distance to shops, restaurants and mother nature. The restaurant is lovely with seafood that’s cooked to perfection. Beautiful views from everywhere. We didn’t use the spa but there were great services offered for reasonable prices!

Worst bed award goes to...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Stayed 2 nights with my husband, slept zero. We stayed in the king corner full bay view suite. The bed was THE most uncomfortable bed in the world. I reached out to management about it and was told all of the beds are the same level of uncomfort. Also we drive a Range Rover and I really prefer not parking it on the street, I was told they had insight parking. The "parking" under their building was made up of about 10 normal spots that were all split in half, parking was impossible. The mini bar snacks were subpar, consisting of a Twix bar and Carmel corn. Oh and the charge for subpar bottle water. Felt like we were in a motel 6. Also the toilet seat was either broken or simply not soft closing, so when my husband used the restroom at night , I'd wake up to a SLAM of the toilet seat. I reached out before our stay asking simple questions about their property via email, GM never responded. If you do decide to stay at this location, which I never will again (stay at The Bellwether instead), bring all your toiletries, because this property's toiletries are the kind of cheap generic kind you'd probably find in a prison. The waitstaff in the restaurant were friendly and the food was okay. Besides that and the constant train noise, well we survived, I sorta feel like this hotel now owes me.

Lovely but not restful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Lovely property but not conducive for rest! Love the property, suite room and view. However, AC did not adequately cool room and train rambled loudly through very frequently! Very restless night! We left another hotel early to come here for expected rest at a Hilton property.

Wonderful surprise in Bellingham

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My wife and I have been lucky enough to travel a lot and have stayed at fantastic properties in Monaco, Budapest , Maui etc. some of those hotels may have been more luxurious, but I don’t think they were as nice as this experience. Everything feels intentional and curated. While it looks like just a quaint inn, everything from bedding, bath products, food and spa was top notch.

Stay here if you hate sleep

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

First, the hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and the rooms facing the bay have a great view. We watched an amazing sunset from our room. Unfortunately none of that makes up for the trains that basically run directly under the hotel. Grab dinner and drinks from the restaurant downstairs, watch the sunset, then go stay somewhere else if you actually want a restful night of sleep. Do your research, read the other reviews, and take them seriously. The hotel likes to say there is a “quiet zone” at night where the trains don’t blow their horns, but that has zero bearing on how loud they still are. The trains pass so close to the hotel that you can not only hear them, you can feel them. There’s a corner right by the hotel and the wheels make this high pitched squeal as the trains come around it. I’m a pretty light sleeper and there was no chance I was getting a good night’s sleep. My wife usually sleeps like a rock and even she didn’t sleep well. The hotel markets itself as a place to relax and rejuvenate, but it’s anything but that. I’ve seen people say the website has a disclaimer about the trains. I booked directly through the Hilton site and never saw it. That warning should be clearly shown in every room description and again on the final checkout screen before booking. On top of that, we did online check-in ahead of time and I spent time researching which side of the hotel I wanted to stay on. When we arrived, they had given that room away to someone else. I understand I wasn’t booking a guaranteed specific room, but don’t let me “pick” a room during check-in if it isn’t actually going to be honored. It wastes people’s time and isn’t a great way to start the stay.
