Luxury comes naturally at Inn by the Sea, surrounded by the beauty of coastal Maine. Located on a mile of sandy beach in New England the Inn embraces an understated elegance with traditional coastal shingled architecture, but decidedly modern and stylish interiors. Inn by the Sea - part of the L.V.X collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts - has emerged as one of Maine's premier luxury seaside retreats and has been granted the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award. With just 61 rooms, spacious one- & two-bedroom suites and rooms, guests are guaranteed attentive service, elegant hospitality and an experience that promises to exceed expectations. Located in Cape Elizabeth, just 7 miles from Portland, the inn has managed to redefine coastal luxury with its sophisticated interior design coupled with a permanent collection of art created by renowned regional artists that grace public and private spaces. A private boardwalk leads onto the soothing shores of Crescent Beach, crossing through a sweeping wildlife sanctuary along the way. With such intimate surroundings, you might not expect the full-service amenities offered by larger hotels, but rest assured, Inn by the Sea is both full-service and fabulous.

Wonderful service! The dining was excellent & inspiring for our passion for cooking. The room was delightful & the bath was divine. We loved hearing the symphony of birds as well. Our little dog loved everything….including the staff’s kindness & the chefs cooking!

Truly one of a kind...great facilities, rooms, setting, food, and staff. We have been there multiple times and will return. Very pet friendly...and equally "people friendly". Be sure to try Seaglass restaurant for any meals breakfast to dinner. Great food and attention to allergies, in our case celiac/gluten free.

Marvelous staff and facility. Great dining, scenery and amenities. The property is marvelously located and very well maintained. There is easy access to the beach, with very fine birding opportunities right on the Inn grounds. The rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished.

Our Virtuoso advisor (who grew up in Maine) recommended we try this, when we told her we needed to spend a night near Portland, since she knew we really enjoyed the nearby Cliff House. We figured we'd try it, in hopes of bringing the whole family (and dogs!) at a later date, and I believe we will. Although the Cliff House may be more "stunning" and has two (much larger) pools, this has a more quaint Inn feeling, just a short walk to a real (State) beach, that's open to leashed dogs from 10/1 - 3/31 (not spring or summer!) each year. The staff members with whom we interacted were all very nice, we really enjoyed our drinks (and then dinner) at the bar, and the fitness room (while small) is very well equipped, with 2 Peloton Bike+ models (strapped, so no clipped shoes required or usable, despite what it says on the website). Our ground floor room was also quite nice. The bathroom was a little dated and it didn't get a lot of natural light, but the (shared) walk out porch was perfect for sitting while enjoying an espresso or tea and looking out towards the sea. Only really "complaints" were that the room upgrade (which should have been automatic with our very reasonable Virtuoso rate) was not offered at check-in, until we explained our plan to checkout the resort for potential future visits (we were also supposed to have a $100 credit applied to our dinner bill, but actually had to call back after reviewing the folio that was emailed to us to get it refunded - that's not very cool)... and somewhat strangely, when the lobby coffee station (expresso/tea only in rooms) ran dry, my wife mentioned it to a staff member, but no one ever refilled the urn and they seemed completely unphased when we (re-)explained that it was empty when offered coffee at check-out. I guess they just make one batch a day?

The Inn by the Sea is a beautiful inn located in Cape Elizabeth. The rooms are extremely clean and updated, and the staff is very friendly. The massage I received from the spa was outstanding! We enjoyed sitting by the fire pits, and sipping the amazing drinks! The Blue Sky Spritzer was delicious and light, my new favorite drink! I will return! Thank you, Inn by the Sea!
