Located in the charming town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is one of America's most enchanting inns. The Carolina Inn, a AAA Four-Diamond Award property, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and originally opened in 1924. It is architecturally noteworthy, as it marries elements of antebellum styles with Georgian and neoclassical features. Part of the Destination Hotels & Resorts collection of posh properties, The Carolina Inn is located on the actual campus of the University of North Carolina, and is a popular hideaway for intellectuals and socialites. You will find a collection of well-appointed guest rooms including seven luxury suites, with a palette of rich colors, priceless antiques and cozy furnishings that resemble those found in a lavish Southern estate.

This hotel is an extension of UNC frat houses, overrun with partying college students. The events in the ballroom reverberate through the halls and you’ll wake up to hungover kids roaming the hallways. I wanted to stay at this picturesque hotel for a really important weekend, and it all went horribly wrong due to a lot of miscommunication among the hotel staff. The operations team is rude. I would not spend my money here. You will get much better experience at another hotel. Try Siena instead.

The Carolina Inn- less than professional. Raven & Dillon rudely interrupted our simple family gathering. Raven came into the courtyard waving her arms & screeching that we could not use the area. Dillon stood behind her with his arms crossed, but not saying anything. We had met with sales earlier in the day & were given the okay to use the public space, knowing it could be used by others at the same time. Both left shortly after the confrontation, with Dillon coming out 5 mins later & offering a ridiculous thumbs up before disappearing back into the hotel. Never did either apologize. Raven later tried to explain her actions, saying people must pay to use the area. Dillon was aware we were guests. We rented 5 rooms, & had dinner & breakfast for 8 in the hotel restaurant. After a warm welcome, we were insulted & treated unkindly. Two unprofessional employees ruined our experience. We did not break, steal or destroy anything. We asked for no privacy or special assistance; just a spot for 8 people to gather outside of our rooms. This one act of unprofessionalism ruined our expectation for hospitality and marred what otherwise should have been a wonderful family gathering.

Beautiful historic hotel located in the heart of UNC. Everything exceeded our expectations- customer service, decor, food, and most of all the location. We will definitely stay here the next time we come to Chapel Hill. Highly recommend!

I was told upon check in by the front desk associate that we had access to both stores with free Carolina Inn water, when I went to retrieve it that night, I was informed that it wasn’t free. I explained the situation and was offered the ability to purchase the water (defeats the whole point right?). Despite my frustration during the conversation, I remained ethical and polite, but noticed the leaving security guard beginning to linger around and glancing over constantly at me. After the conversation ended with zero resolution, that same security guard began to follow me and my wife outside, and then upon our return inside to return to our room, I held the door and he insisted I go first (to continue his lingering and following) in which he then followed us to the elevator. Although he did this discreetly, I found it very unprofessional and unnecessary given the conversation never escalated. The room was clean, however, the shower leaked the entire time through the glass door resulting in a massive puddle outside each use. When I called to request more towels, I was told they should be at my room in 20 minutes. They never came. All around, not a great experience and I do not plan on returning. As a Chapel Hill Alumnus, I think Carolina Inn should strive to provide better customer service, especially with their pricing schematics including the $25 a night parking baked in. If a Carolina Inn water bottle is the line they choose to draw in the sand with their customers, that speaks volumes as to their desire to keep customers satisfied and happy.

The Carolina Inn is a beautiful hotel, incredibly clean and wonderful staff! They made our stay special and so comfortable. The staff at the restaurant were also very accommodating and kind, we will definitely try to stay there every time we visit UNC.

My wife and I enjoyed a superlative stay at The Carolina Inn using a 3-night stay package we purchased via an auction from Luxury Link.
The Inn proved to be a wonderful location to enjoy a romantic weekend. The Inn itself is a graciously restored Southern Georgian-style building with lovely decor and furnishings and excellent narrative plaques throughout the facility which detail both its history and various expansions and restorations. The highlight of the Inn is its deservedly acclaimed restaurant Carolina Crossroads, which offers innovative cuisine that effortlessly and creatively marries locally grown Southern ingredients and cooking styles with ingredients and cooking styles drawn from other U.S. regions and other countries with a lovely dining room and outstanding and genteel service. The spacious guestrooms are nicely decorated and maintained with lovely guest amenities. In summary, The Carolina Inn is a true Southern belle!"
