Perfect stay for an anniversary trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a fantastic stay for our anniversary trip to Kennebunkport! The property was beautiful, the amenities were great, and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. The location was perfect, and we could easily walk to and from town. They provided a wonderful continental breakfast every morning, and had complimentary bikes and beach chairs (which was a great touch). We would absolutely stay here again!

AWOL at AWOL Kennebunkport...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Guys. AWOL is a yes. Don't question it, just book it. It's a yes. I scoured every option in Kennebunkport, admittedly, under the gun of late-booking for summer season. Though I was intrigued by the modern aesthetic of the rooms that perimeter the property, the Cupola Suite ended up being the impulse click that secured our reservation for this vacation. No regrets. WHO WOULD NOT WANT TO HAVE THEIR OWN CUPOLA PLACE TO SIT??? So you need to understand that this suite (#18) encompasses the entire third floor of the main house. And within that space, a staircase takes you up to the cupola perch with two lazy chez loungers and a full 360 degree panoramic view. Wait, hold up. Did he say we get the entire third floor? Yep. I did. central staircase takes you from the second level entry and into the suite. Angled ceilings, hardwood floors, dormer windows, a whimsied mix of modern + classic meld together to create the vibe. There were two or three seating areas in the central living space, a private bedroom with king size bed + walk-in closet, and a breezy bath, sky-lit + with custom, glass shower. Bath was a bit tight in terms o' vanity space, but mmmkay, whatever. Super comfortable king bed. Entire level was climate controlled well with zoned AC units. We happened to select the best weather week that Maine has ever seen in the history of Maine. So we were 68-72 degrees every day with full sun. The cupola space could get a little warm if you didn't open the windows for a cross-breeze (which we did, so it was delightful). Check-in at the Inn was simple. There's someone to assist all day long, until around 7pm, and simple text message requests were responded to swiftly. Check-out was just as simple. Little moments made BIG impact, and solidifying future visits - for sure: Bikes + beach chairs, and a little beach bag with towels, ready for each guest to start that day's adventure around Kennebunkport. Dreamy morning breakfast + coffee served 8-10am allowed us to gather as guests and learn a little something of each other's stories. Soft music playing throughout the common areas all day. A little Bohemian vibe to the entry living room. Returning at the end of the day and finding a display of chocolate chip cookies waiting - just because (which I looted and took to my suite to enjoy). The other value proposition of this property - it's in Kennebunkport such that everything is walkable/bikeable. BUT it's not in the congested hub of town right along the waterfront, which made it amazing for easy in/easy out if we were driving to other destinations for activities + dinners. A quick walk two blocks put us in the heart of everything, and a quick walk two blocks put us back in the quiet of our little oasis AWOL Inn. Kennebunkport was a pretty magical experience. It's true, your cortisol level just seems to plummet there. The air is crisp + clear. The trees breathe new life into you. The rocky shores. The long walks on the beaches. Incredible dining. Incredible lobster rolls. Incredible art galleries. The obligatory lobster sweater you must leave with. The trip by Walker Point. The boats. The sails. The kindness. The stress-free driving. Walking streets + beaches and seeing ZERO litter - anywhere/anytime. Immaculate. The honesty + trust. Honor parking? Leaving your bikes (per the hotel's recommendation) all day and never worrying about them going missing? Leaving your laptop or phone on a table and not giving it a second thought? My brain couldn't process these things. So yeah. We went AWOL from our life and found ourselves absolutely enchanted with all. the. things.

Cozy Winter Getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

We came to AWOL to experience Christmas Prelude weekend! The cabins were cute and cozy and the breakfast was delicious each morning! It was a quick walk downtown to all the events and we felt lucky to have such accessibility to the town. The hospitality was incredible and we would definitely recommend the stay!
