We stayed in the Tall Tales guesthouse over a long weekend in late August 2025. The guesthouse is served by a butler, Gerard, who reached out well in advance of the trip to see what arrangements he could make, both for experiences at the resort and in Old Saybrook generally. Gerard was fantastic - highly responsive, accommodating, and took care of all of the details. The same applied on our arrival - he took excellent care of us during the trip, always a quick call or text away, and when a change in weather threatened our plans for a boat excursion, he proactively reached out and came up with alternatives and then made them work. He also played chauffeur, driving us to different locations in town when we wanted to explore what Old Saybrook had to offer. I highly recommend taking advantage of a stay where Gerard is on hand. The house itself was well worth it. The rooms were sizable, well decorated, and with lots of features and amenities and great views of the harbor. The house is, well, a house -- it has a kitchen, living room, game room, and common areas with fireplaces and nice touches. It feels personal and relaxing. As for the resort itself, which is just across the street, it had plenty to offer for a long weekend. The main restaurant, Fresh Salt, was right on the marina with great views. That can be dicey -- restaurants with great locations can often cheat on the food quality, relying on the ambience to bring people in. We didn't find that to be the case with Fresh Salt -- the food there was of great quality, and the lobster rolls were excellent. Rounding out the amenities were both an indoor and outdoor pool area, which never felt crowded though used by many guests, and a decent spa. Not sure what a stay in the main hotel is like, but with the guesthouse, Saybrook Point & Marina punches above its weight in terms of quality and service, particularly if Gerard is on hand to help you with your stay.

Hotel was beautiful, located at the Marina. Our room was stunning and looked out over the marina. The room was very spacious as well as the bathroom:plenty of room.

Our stay was perfect-our only mistake was not staying longer. The resort is beautiful, we could bring our dogs-plenty of outdoor walking, and our rooms with the water view and balconies were just lovely. The staff was always friendly and helpful and made our stay comfortable and relaxing.

The room was beautiful- everything I anticipated- but upon checkout I was hit with an extra bill that I was never told of upfront- left a very bad feeling for the resort -also, very disappointed with the food at Fresh Salt

What nice venue for a 2-3 day getaway! We had a great room facing the Marina with Long Island off in the distance. The staff was upbeat, helpful and professional across the board. The facility was very neat and reflective of an earlier time. Fresh Salt is not fine dining but the food is top-notch, especially the seafood (Cioppino was off the charts good). The Choo Choo lounge had a laid back vibe with live music two out of three nights we were there. There is also a Marina level outdoor bar with dockside dining. Did not use the Spa but it looked good. The general Old Saybrook area has a few scenic views and one top-shelf fine dinning venue (the Essex). If you are looking for a stop driving from MA/RI/ME to NYC/Philly/DC this is the place.

The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa was romantic and absolutely beautiful (even in the dead of winter). The staff attended to every desire, and the spa treatments were marvelous and soooo relaxing. I highly recommend facial and massage as well as the mud body wrap.

If you are looking for a romantic place with a spectacular water view - then the Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook, CT is the place for you. We had a lovely sitting area with a balcony for enjoying the sunset water view and a working fireplace. Excellent staff and the hotel was immaculate. In any season the Saybrook Point Inn is fabulous.
