Fearrington House Inn

Our return trip did not live up to our earlier experience . Things have gotten tired here and the grounds, landscaping, maintenance and attention to detail have slipped.

My husband and I recently visited the Fearrington House Inn and loved our stay! The food was exquisite at the House Restaurant and the facilities were beautiful and well maintained. We received exceptional service from the following people: Jules was the somalier who made a wonderful wine suggestion and was so friendly and accommodating! Hunter was our waiter at breakfast and he was very accommodating and friendly too. Dan was the waiter (head waiter) from dinner and he was so helpful and amiable. Rashad helped with booking and getting to our room and was very helpful when I needed accommodations for my wheelchair.

Hotel was in a lovely location. However, as a Relais & Châteaux property, I was surprised that our suite room was just mediocre. The furnishings, I felt, were on a par with a Hyatt or Hilton property. The price we paid there was no coffee service in the room, although it was in another room just across a small courtyard from our room. It didn’t start till seven so if you were an early riser, you had to wait till seven to get coffee. Both breakfast we had with our room were excellent. All service, such as the front desk and the restaurant, Was excellent. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. In our room, we had a picture of water, which was a common picture that everybody used when they stayed there and was half full when we arrived. There were no water bottles because I guess of their “environmental sustainability”. However, if you ask for water at the front desk, you got a very nice little metal bottle that could be recycled. I did not use that water pitcher because I didn’t know if it was clean who would used it before etc. the bathroom is large very clean floor is heated and there’s a Heated towel rack, which was very nice. The toilet was old, low and not handicapped level. The toilet seat wiggled around. It was quiet at night, however, you had to shut heavy drapes to get the light out from the surrounding part of the end. If it was a cooler evening, and you wanted to open the windows, the curtains would suppress fresh air. luckily we used air-conditioning. We stayed in a suite with the bathroom, adjoining the primary bedroom. At the top of the door of the bathroom, there was a window, a transom window, that if someone got up early and turned on the bathroom light, it’s shown like a beacon into the primary bedroom and it was impossible to sleep any longer. I have suggested to the hotel that they replaced that with a wooden panel and painted the same color as the surrounding molding. I think it would fit in fine with the decor and solve the problem of the bright light in the bedroom first thing in the morning, Or late at night for that matter. The hotel does take pets and we’re very accommodating and that was very helpful for us. In general, it was a very nice day. The grounds are lovely. They have cows and goats very pleasant. I just think the rooms were not up to par for what I expected with Relais and Châteaux and the price of the room which was over $500.

I have wanted to visit Farrington Village and stay at the end for a while. I finally had the opportunity when my adult daughter was in for a long weekend. We booked through American Express and were upgraded to a grand suite, which was absolutely lovely and huge. The customer service from check in to check out was an A++. The food was excellent at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast, and the Belted Goat was a cute place to have a glass of wine and a snack. They were also cute shops within the village. Unfortunately, it was too hot to take advantage of some of the other activities outside, but there are other things to do within the village itself. I also had one of the best massages I have had in years. We will be back.
