Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation & Inn

Less than half hour from airport, unique boutique hotel with ‘Gaudi’ styled main building, really different. Large suite with impressive views, comfortable and well equipped, pool available but not heated. F & B expensive and variable quality, particularly lunch. A good choice for a stopover after long flight.

We stayed here for two nights when we first arrived in Costa Rica. It is around 30 minutes drive from the aiport and is tucked away. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink and checked into our room. We stayed in La Piedra and it was beautiful. Everything was spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom and large comfortable bed. There was a minibar with reasonably priced drinks and some snacks. We had an outside terrace with sun loungers and the view was wonderful. The windows all had screens fitted to allow them to be open and there was a fan, so we found it cool at night and quiet as well. The swimming pool is lovely and the gardens are really well maintained. Breakfast was included and the choice was good. I am a coeliac and need gluten free food, and they catered for that well. We also at one meal there which was really good. It was a lovely, relaxing way to start our trip and would definitely recommend staying here.

We are on a 12 day trip in Costa Rica, moving around various areas and Finca Rosa Blanca was our first hotel stop. The hotel is a little outside San Jose about a 20-25 minute drive from the airport. It is situated in lush gardens and was formerly a coffee plantation and there are nods to its past in the entrance gates and decor which is beautiful with many painted walls and decorations. We had a lovey welcome including a cocktail. There are only 14 rooms so it has a small and cosy feeling. We had a lovely suite which was generous in size, and had a balcony overlooking the gardens and the city beyond. Again the room was beautifully decorated, it had a large bathroom and a separate enormous bath! We had dinner in the restaurant and the food and service were brilliant. Breakfast the next morning which was included for our stay was very generous and again delicious. All of the staff here were welcoming and polite and we are looking forward to returning at the end of our stay before flying on to our next destination. We would have no hesitation in recommending Finca Rosa Blanca for your stay in San Jose.

Our stay at the Finca Rosa Blanca was fabulous. The hotel building is a stunning, Gaudi inspired work of art itself, and is beautifully decorated with original works of art, hand painted murals and beautiful tile. Every detail is unique! My room was the top floor bedroom of the Blanca Rosa suite and it had panoramic views of the property and the city. The restaurant was lovely, outdoors but covered, and the food was excellent. The service was also excellent. We enjoyed the coffee the next morning in our room and had another delicious meal at breakfast before attending a very thorough and interesting tour of the coffee plantation. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot! I would have loved to stay another night but our itinerary was set. Transportation to and from the airport to the hotel was super easy and door to door service. This is a one of a kind hotel that should not be missed!
