Reviews for Arizona Inn

ALMOST perfect!

We are loyal repeat visitors to this beloved resort and we look forward to each reservation. There is an old world and welcoming feel that is so comfortable---morning coffee in the grand living room with the fireplace ablaze, the beautiful pool and gardens, a delicious tea at 3:30 pm, and great food from a wonderful and cheerful staff in the bar and dining room. The weakest link of the Arizona Inn is the disparity among the rooms. If you book an upgraded room---a deluxe king with patio---you can end up with a small room that barely allows the sleep sofa to open, or a large and gracious room, each for the same rate. We recently completed a very extended stay in one of those "small rooms" and therefore requested a particular room for our upcoming reservation, only to be told that rooms can not be assured. Our request was not put in our confirmation and the front desk conversation was missing the golden words, "we understand and we will do our best". Not the welcome we were looking for.

The ONLY place to stay in Tucson if you want taste!

Old world charm, historic Inn with a long and fascinating history. Some staff members have been there many years and their devotion is noticeable. Our second year for 11 nights, wish we could have stayed longer. Our room (150) good size with comfortable king bed, decent size "updated old-fashioned" bathroom. Same idea for the room furniture; all-in-all very charming. AC & heat. Also a good size patio with two chaises with cushions and a table with umbrella and two chairs. Excellent Cafe-restaurant with great food and very good bar and an outside covered terrace. Coffee with NY Times and WSJournal in the morning in the beautiful, traditional, paintings lined Library with working fireplace and afternoon high tea couple of weekdays. Beautiful landscaping, very good gym and a large (heated) pool with chaises with thick cushions and lots of towels. Free parking. This Inn shows in all details that it has great management. Location is near a hospital and downtown with traffic noise, sirens and airplanes at times.

Big Changes at the Arizona Inn....Sadly, not good ones!

The Arizona Inn has been a favorite for nearly 40 years. It had gotten a little rough around the edges, so I was thrilled when I found out that it had been sold to a local consortium, who announced plans to renovate and refurbish. Alas, so much for high hopes...It has been three days since I reserved a room and have been waiting for a confirmation with dates, daily rate, resort fee and taxes with a total for cost of my two night stay - the standard for even a two or three star hotel! Too long to go into detail, but this appears to be something their new computer system is incapable of furnishing. I have called 15 or 20 times, occasionally getting a human who promises to look into the situation but does not follow up. Most of the time they simply do not answer the phone. After 4 rings an answering machine picks up. Even if you leave a message, they do not call back. Nor does Patrick, the Front Desk Manager, nor Brad, the General Manager. (NB: this is their only number - for reservations, the restaurant, anything..and there is no phone tree) I finally gave up and booked what appears to be a charming inn (The Armory Park...NB: the Manager herself answered the phone after 2 rings, was delightful, worked with me on the rate and confirmed my reservation within 2 minutes of making it!!!). I have been trying off and on for 5 hours to cancel my reservation at the Arizona Inn but guess what...I keep getting the answering machine!!! So sad about this as the grounds, gardens and accommodations are lovely. The staff and management, however, are clearly indifferent and seemingly, incompetent. What a disappointment...

One of the great hotels of Arizona. Lots of history. Very genteel. Reminds me of another era. Have stayed here several times and I highly recommend. A wonderful hotel experience. The best!

We could give this place 10 stars!

There are not enough stars to give to this wonderful place. The Arizona Inn is a fabulous hotel. We found it 6 years ago on a trip to Tucson and we have stayed there - usually for 4-5 days each time - every time in Tucson. It is hard to describe how wonderful this place is - because the experience is so unique. The grounds are flawless, the staff is invisible, quiet, yet there the moment you may need something. The rooms are 1950s luxury - which is a good thing - everything is so quiet and calm. We will not stay anywhere else when in Tucson - treat yourself to a visit to a unique place you will not find anywhere else.

My wife and I visited the Arizona Inn in November. The staff made me realize what I had been missing at other hotels. From check-in to check-out they were courteous and attentive to our every need. High tea was a real treat and the food was wonderful. We want to make this an annual event!
