La Casa del Zorro Resort and Spa, a treasured Southern California retreat, has returned. The resort has been carefully restored to capture the elegance and style visitors first enjoyed in 1937. Experience the romance of a bygone era, with a superior level of service and the quiet, understated luxury of a classic resort. Be a part of the new and old traditions of authentic hospitality, serenity and solitude. La Casa del Zorro is San Diego County’s most celebrated and luxurious desert resort, just 90 miles northeast of downtown San Diego and a three-hour drive from Los Angeles. Borrego Springs Airport is only five minutes away, with complimentary transportation available. The centerpiece of the region is the 600,000 acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the #1 state park in California according to National Geographic, where the Santa Rosa Mountains soar 6,000 feet over the desert floor. The region is rich with hiking trails, wildflowers, desert flora and fauna, mesas, buttes, and canyons. Sweeping desert vistas, secluded palm groves, and little-known Native American village sites are ready for discovery.

Lovely resort. Pleasant room. The restaurant’s food was excellent. Starbucks on site is a plus. The location is very good. Quiet and only a short and easy drive to the information center and small stores.

Stayed in a two bedroom casita with a pool. It was fabulous. Already looking forward to returning next year.

This was initially a pleasant stay (March 11 - 13, 2026) as we found the resort welcoming, clean, and well appointed with a nice pool and hot tub outside our large room. The staff was helpful and kind. Things changed the next day when we went on a hike Friday morning and returned hungry and hot around 3 pm. We discovered there was absolutely no food available anywhere at the resort at that time. The cafe and restaurant were closed, and the bar was only serving drinks. There wasn't even a vending machine or grab-and-go counter to get something to eat. We had to drive back into town to get a couple of sandwiches. That night we wanted to work out or play tennis as it was finally cool enough to do so. We were bummed to discover a chain and padlock around the gate to the workout room and tennis courts. It seems these should be available to use well into the evening when the weather is so hot, as it is most of the year in Borrego Springs. The kicker occurred when we discovered we were charged $465 a night for our stay -- a complete shock. When I purchased the tickets, I was confident the rate on the online booking calendar said something like $250. I could be wrong about that, but I unfortunately did not take a screenshot to prove it. This is a nice resort, but absolutely not worth $465 a night -- especially if there are times when you can't purchase any food at the resort or use the workout gym at 9 pm on hot days. When I made these complaints known to the operations manager, she simply offered $75 off my next stay. Unacceptable given our experience at this way overpriced resort.

We rented a 2 bedroom casita with a hot tub and it was perfect. The staff was so quick to refill the coffee and bring water and even paper plates in minutes of a phone call.
