About the Hotel

White Water is a sophisticated and luxurious interpretation of Cambria and the laid back Central Coast lifestyle. Cambria remains one of the few undiscovered gems along the coast of California. Situated just south of Big Sur and north of Santa Barbara, Cambria is a small town situated directly on miles of undeveloped beach and land along the Pacific Ocean. Just steps from Moonstone Beach, White Water has an idyllic setting and picturesque backdrop. A short bike ride to downtown, guests can easily enjoy all the restaurants and shopping nearby. The lobby lounge offers a wide selection of local wines, craft beers, ciders, and spirits, as well as a selection of small bites and share plates for enjoyment. From a selection of local cheeses and meats, to our signature fondue, Chef Jason Niederkorn has curated a wide selection of favorite offerings.

Great location, staff and lobby bar. Easy trip into the great town of Cambria for eat, shop and dine. Great hiking and dog friendly.

Lovely location, friendly staff, overpriced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This location was lovely, and overall we enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well decorated, and spacious. However, the Ocean View King room at $700/night (including taxes and fees) felt a bit overpriced. The view was very nice from inside the room, but the outdoor seating had no view, as it is blocked by a privacy fence. We didn't use the outdoor tub, so can't speak to that feature. The fireplace didn't work, and looked rather old and beat up. The pilot light went out when we first attempted to light it upon arrival; the gentleman at the front desk came by to try to re-light it but was unsuccessful and had maintenance come the next day to re-light it. When my husband attempted to start the fire on the second night, the starter shocked him, and we gave up. It would have been nice to use the fireplace given that it was chilly while we were there, and it's advertised as an amenity in the room description. The morning breakfast was okay (two pastries, hot coffee, orange juice and some champagne) but I would've preferred a choice to get some bottled water instead of coffee, as we don't drink coffee (or champagne in the morning) and it felt wasteful. And honestly, some complimentary water in the room would've been nice at that price point, instead of just $8 spring water in the mini bar. I would likely stay here again if we return to Cambria, but I wouldn't bother spending the extra money for the Ocean View room, since the real benefit to the hotel's location is that you can just walk across the street to enjoy a stroll on the boardwalk instead of a view from the room.

Quaint hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

What a charming little find. All of the attention to detail and the superb hospitality was so impressive, from the warm and welcoming greetings by the front desk staff and the little things that made our stay special, such as the little card presented at check-in, with the time of sunset handwritten in; the morning picnic basket delivery with fresh coffee, mimosas, and pastries; the picnic tote in the room filled with beach towels and a picnic blanket; bicycles available to guests; quality teas, a stocked mini fridge, and snacks available in the room; and quality small bites and cocktails served in the lobby really made our stay so enjoyable. Even just returning to the hotel at night and seeing the torches lit up gave this place such a warm, welcoming, and cozy vibe. Great location, just steps away from the boardwalk. And shout out to the sweet, lovely lady at the front desk that mixes up the best Aviation cocktail! Keep doin’ what you’re doin’, White Water. Everything was so delightful. I think we found our new favorite place to stay on our Cambria trips. We’ll be looking forward to our next visit.

Nice Four Day Stay

Service made the stay! Very helpful front desk staff. Morning baskets were great. Firepit by Adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean never did work. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious.
