Nestled among the evergreens along the rushing waters of The Kicking Horse River, Cathedral Mountain Lodge & Chalets offers quiet seclusion in Canada's renowned Yoho Valley. At this Select Registry associate, central to the four national parks of Yoho, Banff, Jasper and Kootenay, coziness was never more welcoming than in one of twenty-four handcrafted log cabins. Each features spacious sitting areas appointed with antiques and private decks that offer fabulous river and mountain views.

I felt overwhelmed trying to research our first visit to the Canadian Rockies, especially how to visit the popular spots. No need to stress if you stay here! We started our trip at Cathedral Mtn Lodge in Yoho for 2 nights which blew us away for 5 main reasons- 1. The beautiful setting along the river with Cathedral Mtn towering above, 2. The rustic elegance of the cabins and lodge and interesting mining history and artifacts, 3. The service (10/10) both at the front desk and at the restaurant, 4. The included Moraine Lake shuttle (shout out to Karla), canoe ride, and breakfasts which were delicious. 5. Staying here enabled us to visit Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake, and Takakaw Falls in one long day and not feel rushed.

CML is very over-priced for what it is. A relatively basic wooden cabin nestled between a major road, railway line and minor road, which provide a constant hum of traffic noise. There is no air con. There is no bar. They only offer packed lunches. The river that flows by the property is OK but by the standards of the local national park unremarkable. All of this is acceptable if you don’t consider the price which is commensurate with much better quality offerings. Disappointing.

We absolutely loved our time at Cathedral Mountain Lodge. The staff were amazing The cabins were really nice. Our boys could have their own beds in the loft, clean and quiet. We were close to the river and our sons would hangout there skipping stones for hours. The restaurant was nice (staff A+) but the food was pricey for what they offered. But it was lovely experience. You can also get a packed “hikers lunch” which is a nice touch (you pay extra) They also offer a shuttle to Moraine but it doesn’t start running until later in the morning so if you want to see sunrise, you’ll have to do an another way. All in all. I’d stay there again.

We stayed a couple of nights on the way from Jasper to Whitefish, MT and are so glad we did. The staff was outstanding. The place is beautiful, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the fireplace in the cabin and being able to walk to the main lodge for fine dining. We took advantage of the shuttle to Moraine Lake; thank you to David for making the drive so enjoyable. Would also recommend the short drive up to the nearby falls. Only downside was the loud hum coming from the kitchen; fortunately our cabin wasn’t close by. And a bit pricey, but we enjoyed it enough that we plan to return. Truly a special place.

Enjoyed our stay here everything was exceptional especially the staff!! Would definitely stay here again if the prices come down, we stayed at other places close by that were not as expensive and just as nice. The dinner here is terribly overpriced for mediocre food, but breakfast was great! Cannot say enough about all the staff here they were top notch!!
