Reviews for Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa

Beautiful location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The location and the staff are excellent, very friendly and accommodating! We stayed 4 nights. The property offers amazing adventures, but be aware, they are expensive and in my opinion overpriced! Considering you are paying a steep daily resort fee in addition to the price of everything else. The spa is very nice, you can use the sauna and steam room for free. There is also a very nice 'quiet/waiting' room to enjoy. The property has one restaurant to dine in, and one bar by the pool offering a few bites, everything else is over an hour away. The Paradoux restaurant has a limited menu and it does not offer much variety for people with allergies. They were out of gluten free buns for 3 days for example. This is a luxury resort, you should not be out of bread that you can buy anywhere for 3 days. There isn't a general store in the area where you can get local fresh fruits or veggies for snack. Definitely bring some fruits if you want to feed the goats, sheep, donkeys and horses. The coffee shop on the property is open only for 3 hrs in the morning, which is another flaw in my opinion.

Oasis

We have a wonderful experience with our family at Gateway. It is a beautiful oasis. The property is very well maintained, and beautiful landscaping. We loved the pools, walking and hiking in the trails. We also enjoyed the complementary bikes! The rooms are lovely and very clean. I highly recommend Gateway!

Simply incredible unmatched views!

Overall a superb experience. We traveled with our two grandsons. There was plenty to do. Cruiser bikes around the property were a huge bonus as well as the pool and shuffle board table. Most of all, the scenery us unsurpassed! You have to see it to believe it!

I'm a fifth-generation Coloradan, am a stalwart fan of Gate Gateway Canyons for multiple reasons, and this year's visit was the 5th year for our family. The first included my father and his nurse/companion when Gateway was just being built. Every time we go, I am further impressed with the integrity with which this vision was conceived and is being carried out. I speak with staff when I visit and every single staff member is consistent: The place is wonderful, the seasonal activities are fun, and they love the area and the vision for Gateway. All this by way of saying that I truly appreciate the hard work and emphasis on a private yet comprehensive experience on the Dolores near the Colorado Plateau.

I just wanted to take a minute to write about what a wonderful facility Gateway Canyons is. The accommodations were beautiful, food was fantastic and the staff was great to work with. We received an informative tour of the museum and they even helped us find the game in the Kiva Café Sunday morning. We told ourselves we would get up there from the day I toured with the VCB and it just didn't happen. I'm sorry we waited so long but it was well worth it. I'm glad to see the project continuing to grow given the economy. Thank you again for a fabulous getaway!
