Bugs Everywhere in our Room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Gateway resort and spa was not the best experience we had. The scenery was beautiful. However, our room was cover with bugs. They were all in our bed. Our children's room was the same way. Went to front desk and they ended up giving us 2 new rooms only to find that one of those rooms was covered up in bugs as well. We all 4 slept in a king size bed for 1 night and ended up leaving there because of all the bugs. Very disappointed as this was the start of our vacation.

Above and beyond... So GRATEFUL

This was our second time staying at Gateway Canyons Resort and Spa. We were heading to Telluride on a romantic getaway and this was a stop on the way. The draw to this place is the stunning beauty and remote location of it. The resort is small and southwestern and upscale. It had very few people staying there, and was a touch on the deserted side which was perfect for us, but if you are looking to party probably not your vibe. When we arrived they couldn't find our reservation. It took a long time to check in and they had to start a new reservation. Because of our trouble they upgraded us from a King room to a Casita for no additional cost. The Casita was beautiful with a living room, big soaking tub, private outdoor shower that looked out to the gorgeous canyon and our own porch including fire pit. After check in we went to start our car and it was dead. DEAD, like really no turnover. Gateway is an hour from Grand Junction and there are no mechanics or auto stores near, but not to worry, the whole staff was so accommodating and they took great care of us. The fleet mechanic on property, who happens to maintain the owner's multi-million dollar car collection, looked at our car the next day and fixed it for free. Battery acid had spilled over and nothing was connecting. They sent a driver to Grand junction to pick up a new battery so we didn't have to interrupt our vacation (also for free). Because it was later in the day when the car was fixed we decided to stay another night and they gave us the same beautiful Casita for another night at the price of our original room. The whole staff was so friendly and everything was a yes. They turned a stressful situation into an awesome getaway. Thankful to Nathan, Rafael and Bunk. You guys are the best!!!

It was a perfect local getaway! Peaceful, beautiful surroundings, friendly and attentive staff, clean, comfortable beds, and spa massages were excellent.

Hidden Gem

A truly exceptional resort in a stunning location. The staff were terrific and the pools were so much fun. We did a UTV experience also and saw some beautiful country up the nearby canyon.

Fantastic Getaway to Gateway!

Fantastic girls getaway to gateway! Hidden in the Colorado desert this place is magical! Just what 4 gals needed for a little R&R. We really enjoyed the room, pool and other amenities. We luckily won an ATV tour at poolside bingo and it was such a blast! Thanks to Dylan for the tour and stories about the history of the area. So much fun! We’ve already booked for next year!

I'm a fifth-generation Coloradan, am a stalwart fan of Gate Gateway Canyons for multiple reasons, and this year's visit was the 5th year for our family. The first included my father and his nurse/companion when Gateway was just being built. Every time we go, I am further impressed with the integrity with which this vision was conceived and is being carried out. I speak with staff when I visit and every single staff member is consistent: The place is wonderful, the seasonal activities are fun, and they love the area and the vision for Gateway. All this by way of saying that I truly appreciate the hard work and emphasis on a private yet comprehensive experience on the Dolores near the Colorado Plateau.

I just wanted to take a minute to write about what a wonderful facility Gateway Canyons is. The accommodations were beautiful, food was fantastic and the staff was great to work with. We received an informative tour of the museum and they even helped us find the game in the Kiva Café Sunday morning. We told ourselves we would get up there from the day I toured with the VCB and it just didn't happen. I'm sorry we waited so long but it was well worth it. I'm glad to see the project continuing to grow given the economy. Thank you again for a fabulous getaway!
