Room with a rodent, way over priced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Staff was nice enough at first but then we discovered an unwanted roommate at 9:45pm when I awoke to a rodent rummaging in my back pack. I called customer service and was told that the hotel was sold out so they offered a rodent trap and complementary snack. Snack? For us or the rodent?? I said, no, we need another room. I cannot sleep here with an unknown "guest". After 3 calls to the front desk and 2 hours later, we were standing outside waiting on our new found "available room". We stood around for 30+ minutes as multiple shuttles drove past. After 3 more calls, we were picked up and taken to our "new" room. Then the charge for the new room appeared on our card. Still waiting to make sure that clears. Since our stay was prepaid, they would not give us a refund but offered a $ 200 gift card. The property in Toronto was less quality service and nearly as disappointing. Stay elsewhere and save yourself a lot of money. Too bad I was too shocked to find the rodent and didn't get a fun picture to post.

Luxury and Kindness in Jasper

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The lodge is a spread out complex with beautiful, quiet grounds surrounded by the Canadian Rockies. We had a cabin overlooking the Athabasca River, and the room was recently renovated and quite spacious and clean. The big enjoyment here was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff and the excellent breakfast. Staff is well trained to promote helpfulness and kindness, and we were blessed by each and every staff interaction.

Amazing Lodge. Personalized concierge team was a great plus from booking activities and dinner reservations. The lake view room was amazing, and very quiet. A lot of walking trails nearby. It was a nice break and family time together for us and staffs everywhere at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge are extremely respectful and helpful. Hope to return again. Many thanks to Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge team!

This place is very special.

Driving onto Jasper on our road trip we had been warned about the devastation to the landscape by the fires in 2022. It was sad to see the burnt trees along the road but equally there were many small green trees starting out on their journey to bring life back to Jasper National Park, a sign of hope. Our hotel was just on the outskirts of the town but equally a very important part of the town. Our lodge was beside the water and it was stunning. Magnificent views of the lake and the surrounding majestic mountains were food for my soul. The lodge itself was huge with a large sitting area and a huge window with uninterrupted views of the water The bedroom was large with plenty of wardrobes and an amazing bathroom with the most beautiful decor I have ever seen. The use of colour & light fixtures throughout the lodge was inspired thinking, reflecting the outside back into our living space. Dinner was lovely and the kitchen had a special dish on the menu with all proceeds going back into the restoration fund for Jasper. The after dinner walk around the lake and the stargazing experience set for 11pm was very special. Up bright and early for a swim in the outdoor pool which I had to myself for an hour or so followed by dips in & out of the hot tub set me up for my massage in this wonderful hotel spa. I must mention Susan the manager of the outdoor pool area. She was simply the happiest employee I have ever met. She loved her job and had worked in the hotel for over 16 years. She came to work every day thankful to be there surrounded by the beautiful landscape, she loved helping others and was so happy to be doing something she loved every single day. That interaction with Susan told me everything I needed to know about this hotel. Culture trump’s strategy every day & this place oozed a culture of kindness, a place where you could just relax and enjoy being in the moment surrounded by the nicest people on earth.

Lake access

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The rooms were clean, but they are located quite a distance from the main office, which was a bit inconvenient. The property was undergoing refurbishment therefore some things were not available. That said, the walks around the lake were absolutely magnificent and a real highlight of the experience.
