Lovely lakeside luxury lodges

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

incredible luxury rustic cabin overlooking lovely lake. lodge has several very nice restaurants with excellent selections. Lobster and short ribs and speggetti with lobster were highlights. Scallops appetizer was excellent. Rooms are like a suite with a living room and separate bedroom. Nice size bathroom and closet. Bed very comfortable. only wierd thing was a large window in living room missing any type of shade allowing neighbors to see right in. Several special events at hotel like a history talk and a planetarium. Golf course looks beautiful. One hole affected by recent fires. Driving range and putting green were available to guests as well. bike and boat rentals. Bike ride was moderately difficult but enjoyable ride around the lake. Staff super nice.

No AC, seriously?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

25th anniversary we booked through travel agent, arrived at the room, 3 fans running, no air conditioning, we call the front desk, their response was “do you want more fans? The AC rooms are sold out.” How would we know to request an air conditioned room? Is this 2025 or 1925?. The grounds are beautiful but to rent rooms with no ac at regular rates is just greed, and the manager barely seemed apologetic. So unfortunate.

Disappointing.

This was a disappointing experience. The hotel is very nice and the staff very nice. We had two rooms. One was very warm, had no AC, and the windows didn’t do enough to cool the room down (despite the nice 70 degrees outside). The other room.. we couldn’t get into because they gave us keys that didn’t work. The rooms are spread out across the big property, so we had to walk back to get new keys. Again the keys didn’t work. Not cool. They did have another air conditioned room, which only begs the question as to why they didn’t give us two air conditioned rooms in the first place. Check-in took over 50 minutes due to the issues. Later, when I left my key in the room, they again gave me one that didn’t work. Had to walk back again. At least I got my steps in. The rooms had portable AC’s that were loud and annoying. The porch had an amazing view. Dinner was great. Expected much more from a Fairview Hotel at these rates. At the rates we paid, I would have expected a mix

Magic Setting. Welcoming Lodge. Woeful Accommodation.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge seems to have three distinct components. There’s the setting, there’s the Lodge and there’s the lodgings (accommodation). The setting is just stunning, and the area is recovering from devastating fires a year or so ago. Serious efforts have been made to embrace and promote the beautiful lake setting. The lodge too is stunning. The reception staff are welcoming, the dining and bar service areas are excellent, and associated shops are fine. The accommodation aspect, for us, was woeful and contrasted significantly with the luxury-oriented ambience experienced at the lodge. Accommodation is loosely based around a log cabin theme. Our accommodation was reminiscent of what we’d experienced in our youth on school camps. Our room was hot and stuffy and didn’t appear to have any air conditioning. There were pedestal fans to simply recirculated the hot air. We seemed powerless in being able to do anything to cool the space down. The room was clean yet basic with dated and worn furniture. The bed was comfortable. Accessible power and USB sockets were difficult to find, and exposed power cables were in abundance. Nothing felt Fairmont about it. The bathroom was tokenistic. It was so tiny that you just about needed to back in to use the toilet. This place has the potential to be the most amazing holiday resort. Its deficits must be known to Fairmont and are unrelated to the impact of the recent fires. There is serious work to be done.
