Mediocre at best, DO NOT BOOK THE PLANETARIUM TENT!!!

My husband and I, as well as two other couples stayed at the Jasper Park Lodge, Ridgeline Cabin, from March 24th through the 26th of this year. Upon checking in, my husband and I were assigned the bedroom with two full beds and outdoor access. After settling in for a bit, we turned on the bedroom's heater because the room was freezing cold and went out to dinner. Upon our return that night, we noticed the room was so very cold so we called maintenance for assistance. A technician arrive around 10:15 pm, verified that the heater was not working, placed a space heater in the room and said that he would check under the cabin to find the problem. About 15 minutes later, he came back to let us know that he needed to change a part and was going to check if he had a spare one. He also said that he would be coming back with a second space heater. At about 11:00 pm, we decided to go to sleep (the two of us on one full size bed.....) because we were exhausted waiting for him to return, which he never did. Next morning before 9:00 am we went to the front desk to share our discomfort about the lack of heating. The person we spoke with told us that it would be handled by the time we returned from our excursion. Later in the afternoon, after we had finished our ice walk, we went back to the cabin and noticed that our bedroom was freezing cold again. We stopped by the front desk before dinner and were informed that the manager was trying to contact us because the hotel did not have the necessary part to fix the problem. The had to be ordered and it would not be arriving for a couple of days; however, neither myself nor anyone from my group received a call from you or the management team. Not even apology for the inconvenience. It gets worse. During our second night, the six of us booked and paid for the planetarium and telescope experience offered by the hotel, which we found to be not only a huge disappointment, but clearly a misleading and fraudulent way to acquire revenue. Nothing prepared us for a makeshift igloo looking tent called a planetarium with loan chairs and an outdoor heater. The video projection is 20 minutes long, with loud music that masks any attempt of an explanation provided by the narrator. And of course, no refund for the "unused telescope experience" due to bad weather. Oh, but you can come back within two years and use the telescope.... After the 20 minutes video projection one of the members of the planetarium team asked all of us to gather around a drum barrel fire outside to go over the next steps. Keep in mind, this is happening during a very windy night and below freezing temperatures. Then they directed us to another outdoor tent with a tv screen and zero heating source. We lasted five minutes and had to run back to the main building. What a fiasco! My husband and I, as well as our friends are all retired and have save after working very hard for many years to have a nice vacation. We all felt so defrauded for waisting approximately $150.00 per couple!

Great weekend getaway

Always enjoyable stay. Rooms and staff on point. Toiletteries lovely. A little mat at door for dirty boots would be good in spring type weather. Restaurants have very good food. Our pup was concerned with the number of squirrels.....and enjoyed the bed, dishes and treats awaiting him upon arrival.

Not great

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Rooms have thin walls, room service was singing every morning and having loud phone calls which could clearly be heard in the same building. Heated floors have no on/off switch, rooms too hot. Restaurant took 120mins for breakfast numerous days in a row, literally every single table was complaining. They offered us croissants which took another 15mins to arrive somehow.

Almost not worth it anymore.

Almost not worth it anymore. I've stayed here 4 times since 2016, and let's hope that the renovations right now can help bring it back to the old standard. I'm not picky with my hotel stays, except when I stay at a Fairmont, as you're paying a ton of money for an exceptional experience. STOP ALLOWING DOGS! I own a dog, I leave my dog at home because I don't want other peoples time here to be ruined. Dogs do not belong at a Fairmont. Our neighbors in the room beside ours, had a dog they left in the room their entire stay. It barked 24/7. Woke us up at midnight, 3 am and started barking again at 6am and didn't stop until we finally had to leave the room at 10 am because we couldn't handle the constant barking. We came back before we went skating... barking. Left, came back before supper... barking. We ended up speaking to the Manager because it was just too much and we didn't pay to be here and listen to that. They did compensate our 2 breakfasts and lunch at the hotel, which was appreciated. However, it didn't solve the issue and I don't get why there needs to be dogs in a place like JPL. It's crazy how thin the walls are to start with, you can hear every single word and convo going on in the other room. If I was staying at a Super 8 or Best Western, I wouldn't care, but this is a Fairmont. I hoped that the renos wouldn't affect the whole, Christmas at the lodge vibe that keeps bringing me back, but they did. The fires around the property weren't kept up, they were always out, no one was keeping them going. Not having the big main restaurant/lounge and Christmas tree up honestly sucked. I understand the renos are going on, but if you've been here in December in previous years, I just don't think it's worth it to go this year, wait until the renos are done and go in 2026. The staff was great, always very friendly. Had room service both mornings, food and service were both amazing. Spa, great as always too. But small details just add up and makes a person question the price point.

Wait until renovations are complete

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

The hotel is under renovation. The restaurants are not open and the bar and lounge are not open. If you want to eat or drink you have to drive in to town. If you want the Jasper Park Lodge experience delay your visit.
