This pristine wetland paradise is home to a great variety of wildlife including leopard and lion; elephant, buffalo and hippo; and giraffe, lechwe, reedbuck and sitatunga. Impressive jackalberry, mangosteen and leadwood trees form an ancient canopy under which the lodge is nestled. All 12 suites have been carefully sited so as to give endless views out over the floodplains and the chance to watch passing wildlife. Xigera is our love letter to the magic of the African bush. Every aspect is handcrafted to beguile guests' senses and stir their souls – from the evocative interiors to one-of-a-kind encounters. Experience of a lifetime

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My husband, daughter and I returned today from an extraordinary five days at the magical Xigera Safari Lodge. This is actually my second review as the first I wrote this morning contained so many superlatives that TripAdvisor told me off for using AI ! I didn't, of course, but I am toning down my review to ensure it is published. Xigera is a masterpiece and sits unobtrusively in the landscape seeming almost invisible to the passing wildlife. During our trip we watched warthogs having a dust bath, a lion hunting, and elephants taking a stroll - all from the balcony of our suite. (The suites are elevated from the ground so there are no unwanted visitors except the occasional monkey.) The suites are beautifully designed with every comfort and the public areas of the lodge are equally attractive. The food is great too. We had a fabulous meal on our last night cooked by chef Natalie - six courses using locally produced meat and vegetables. Thank you to the restaurant chefs too who fed us heartily after game drives, and on one memorable occasion surprised us with an outdoor breakfast on beautifully laid tables - white tablecloths, napkins, mimosas! Of course we went on safari to see the animals and we certainly did! Every early morning and late afternoon we set off with our brilliant guide, Des, to track the animals from our jeep or boat, and every day produced another wonderful experience. We saw lions, leopards, giraffes, water buffalo, eagles, zebra, crocodiles, owls, wildebeests, hippos, wild dogs and lots of birds. Des was enormously knowledgable and he kept us safe, entertained and educated. We spent one night in Xigera's 'tree house' - a secure three storey creation that enables you to sleep out under the stars in comfort, and what stars they are! The Milky Way was clearly visible - there's no light pollution - and we spent a wonderful night picnicking and watching the shooting stars overhead. Oh and listening to the hippos grunting away in the nearby pool. The staff at Xigera are warm and professional. Their service is impeccable and done with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble. We would like to thank them all for making us so welcome and giving us the experience of a lifetime.

Unforgettable

My Wife and I stayed here for five days at the beginning of May 2025. The wildlife here is prolific and varied. Elephant, giraffe, hippos, leopard, cheetah and numerous other mammal. Birdlife is also spectacular. Our guide for five days (Lesh) was very knowledgeable and professional and was always on hand to help with anything. The Lodge itself has a restaurant, bar, library, spa, gym and swimming pool. The food and service from all staff was superb. Forget anywhere you’ve ever been, anywhere in the world, Xigera takes it to another level. We will never forget our experience. Andrew Williams

Everything was excellent honestly . The atmosphere , the relaxation and the drinks kept on coming 😂❤️ . The activities were amazing including the landscapes. Each camp is situated in various parts of the Delta. Xigera is located in an ever green area, which makes a stunning backdrop for the beautiful African sunsets 😍.

Truly Sensational

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

My recent visit 5-day visit to the magnificent Xigera Lodge in Botswana was without doubt the most incredible, awe-inspiring trip I could ever have imagined or hoped for. The lodge is the vision of the late Stanley Tollman. His meticulous attention to detail and clear love of Africa shines through in every aspect of the design and construction of this stunning property. This attention to detail theme is also embraced whole heartedly by all of the members of the Xigera Team. Their passion for their property and its magnificence is inspirational and enthusiastically shared with us as guests throughout our stay. The food options and choices at Xigera are exceptional. Head Chef Reggie, alongside chefs Prince and Patrick, created a constant flow of delicious dishes, that were always served with wonderful smiles, alongside their in-depth knowledge of their ingredients. Other members of the team such as Quest, Maatla, Nio, Topps, Katie, Lollipop and Arone were always on hand to deliver impeccable service, whether that be at 5.00a.m. for the first drive or for last drinks at the bar. Our twice daily drives were always eagerly awaited and never disappointed. The evening drive was always topped off with a spectacular sunset and delicious sundowners prepared by our wonderful guide Chris. Chris has an incredible and in-depth knowledge of the bird and animal life of Botswana and his explanations, describing the dynamics of what makes up the Okavango Delta were captivating and fascinating. Each drive was unique, allowing us to get close to leopards, lions, giraffe, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, etc. The variety of bird life that we saw daily was equally remarkable and allowed me the opportunity to tick off countless birds seen for the first time. One of our many highlights of the trip was a surprise, meticulously planned al fresco brunch where we were treated to a delicious, cooked brunch at a waterhole, allowing us to observe wallowing Hippos, elephants, crocodiles etc. whilst we ate. Xigera Lodge is headed up by their inspirational General Manager, Ben Seager. Ben’s passion for Xigera and Botswana is infectious and he leads from the front. Greeting guests daily when they return from their drives, sharing his intimate knowledge of the game reserve and details of each day’s sightings. Knowing that I am a very keen fisherman and eager to catch my first Tigerfish, Ben very kindly organised an incredible fishing adventure for us on the Okavango River. First flying us on an exciting helicopter journey to the Pan Handle, allowing us to have a privileged and spectacular eagle eye view of the wildlife of the Okavango Delta. We were then guided by an expert ghillie who skilfully managed to manoeuvre our boat amongst “bloats” of Hippos and countless enormous crocodiles. Allowing me to not only catch my first ever Tigerfish but an additional four. Alongside sightings of Osprey’s, Little Bittern, Goliath Heron’s, Malachite Kingfishers etc. This was a day I will treasure and remember for a very long time. Suffice to say, our visit to Xigera Lodge has created a wonderful catalogue of incredible memories, permanently etched into our hearts and this has left us wondering how on earth we will ever be able to match, let alone beat this awesome adventure.
