If your tropical dreams involve having a tiki drink in hand at all times, Valentin Imperial Maya does not disappoint. Guests can while away the days seaside on the wide, half-mile-long Playa del Secreto or float down a meandering pool almost that long – in peace, since the resort is adults-only. Roomy suites outfitted in creamy neutrals have marble floors and a hydrotherapy tub for two. At night, a choice of eight restaurants and 11 bars keep options interesting.

Fredy and Joell at the swim up bar took incredible care of me all day! I have a severe allergy and they made sure I was safe :)

Our 5th trip here! The Valentin never disappoints! This place holds such a special place in our hearts being that it’s where we’ve celebrated almost every important milestone here- engagement, wedding, babymoon, birthdays etc.

Large suites with all ammenities. The mini bar was not stocked after items were used. The attention and the smiles are second to none. Check in was well executed. We had a discrepancy on the bed type, but they were flexible in making changes and getting us exactly what we needed. I asked them to speak to the manager to make and adjustment. They promptly did so. We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Valentin. While every resort has its quirks, the pros here far outweigh the cons, making for a truly relaxing getaway. The Highlights: The Beach: Simply perfect this time of year. Because the wind was blowing from the land toward the sea, the water was crystal calm and completely free of Sargasso. The cordoned-off swimming area is ideally placed; you can wade all the way to the perimeter and the water only reaches about chest-height. The Food: This is a true foodie paradise. While the drinks are standard "resort-style" cocktails, the food quality—especially in the specialty restaurants—is superior to most all-inclusive stays. The Service: The attention and smiles from the staff are second to none. Check-in was executed perfectly. We had a slight discrepancy with our bed type, but the staff was flexible and, after a quick and professional chat with the manager, they got us exactly what we needed. The Grounds: The resort offers a tremendous sense of space. Everything is spotless. The public bathrooms were tended to regularly—no smells, no trash—the staff is truly "Johnny on the spot" when it comes to cleanliness. A Few Tips for Travelers: Pool Temps: During our stay, the pools were quite cold. They only became approachable once the outdoor temperature hit 81°F. If you find them too chilly, head to the beach or the Golden Pool on the quieter side of the resort for a more relaxing, high-service vibe. The Suites: The rooms are large with every amenity you could need. We did find that our mini-bar wasn't consistently restocked after use, but it was a minor blip in an otherwise great stay. As beautiful as the suites are, the best time is spent outside enjoying the lush grounds and the ocean. We would definitely return!
