My favourite stay of our 23 day Zanzibar trip
We stayed at Essque Zalu Zanzibar at the end of March into early April, and honestly it saved the back end of our trip. We had originally booked a couple of other places in the area for the last part of the holiday, but they just didn’t live up to expectations, so we decided to cut our losses and move — best decision we made. From the moment we arrived here, you could feel the difference. Everything just ran properly. The place has a really nice feel to it — relaxed but still high quality. It’s not over the top, just done well. The staff were great, easy to deal with and genuinely helpful without being in your face. After what we’d experienced at the other hotels, that alone was a big win. Rooms were clean, huge, and everything actually worked, which sounds basic but wasn’t a given at the other places. It was just easy to settle in and relax. Food was nice too. Good variety and consistent, and the setting in the evenings is a nice spot to just wind down. It’s not your typical white sand beach right out the front (more rocky coastline), but the views are unreal and it’s quiet, which we actually preferred. If you want the proper beach, it’s close enough anyway. All up, moving to Essque Zalu Zanzibar turned a pretty average end to the trip into a really good one. If you’re staying around Nungwi, I’d just book here from the start and save yourself the hassle.

Such a worthy stay
Essque Zalu Hotel in Zanzibar is a beautiful place to stay! The rooms are great, and the views of the ocean are amazing. The food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly, we were received by Amina , she was very hostile .If you want a relaxing vacation, this hotel is a perfect choice!

Beautiful hotel
We had a wondeful stay at the hotel. We highly recommend the sea front room. It is very spacious and directly located at the beach. This hotel is a perfect place to relax and have peace. If you like you can also take a free shuttle to a beautiful beach nearby. All the staff was very friendly.
