A great base for Victoria Falls Zimbabwe

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

We chose Victoria Falls Safari Lodge as our base to start our first time safari in Zimbabwe/Botswana/Victoria Falls area. The property is beautiful! Located inside Zambezi National Park, the hotel has an incredible view of this magical watering hole where elephants, impalas and other animals come to graze. We booked a standard room and we were placed somewhat far from the main reception lodge but our room was perfectly adequate with a nice bed, well appointed furniture, desk, wardrobe, bathroom & balcony overlooking the park. Because it was closer to the road I would rate it 3.5 out of 5. The good thing was, no monkeys visited our room which they did to the rooms closer to main lodge. Upon arrival, front reception staff was somewhat asleep at the wheel. We arrived, checked in & had to immediately go to our sunset boat tour. Turns out, we were supposed to get a welcome & tour. That never happened. The following day we left early for Botswana and they kindly packed us a very generous to go breakfast. Super helpful so we could eat on the road. As guests and prior to our arrival, we requested a Friday night Boma dinner reservation & were told they could not accommodate so we had to go the night we returned from Chobe causing us to miss the drum show due to sheer exhaustion from the long day. Hotel should prioritize their guests. They don’t. We liked the daily breakfasts, the bar & restaurant & the beautiful cold plunge pool. Super refreshing from the African Sun. Overall it’s a beautiful property and we’d recommend it. Just know who you get determines if you’ll get ok vs great service. We also visited during a slower week so it was really relaxed and mellow.

Best Place to stay in Victoria Falls

The location of this beautiful hotel strikes you first followed by the exceptional welcome from the staff. The proximity to the wildlife seen at the waterhole is fantastic combined with restaurants serving delicious food. A real gem and a must to stay if you are staying in Victoria Falls.

First Class at Victoria Falls River Lodge!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I simply can’t say enough great things about Victoria Falls River Lodge. We stayed on the island and felt like it was our very own. The food, service, and hospitality are top-notch. The special attention that we received from our guide, Charles, our butler Roy, and especially the resort manager Lisa was unbelievable. The private excursions our group went on: game drives, River cruises, and certainly the trip to the edge of Victoria Falls are memories that we will have for a lifetime. There is no better place to stay on the Zambezi river than this. Period. We cannot wait to return!

Holiday of a life time

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had 2 nights here! We were in rooms 5.7.8, these were wonderful! A balcony looking over the watering hole! The hotel was lovely! Cleaners and wait staff were so friendly! We found the front of house a little less friendly than we have become used to on our trip but still helpful! The food was disappointing in the main restaurant - like warm! We ate in the buffalo bar the second night and it was a little better. Breakfast was good both days! This is the perfect holiday if you wish to be able to watch the wildlife come and go as they please!

Loved it!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back. We stayed in a suite which was clean and spacious. The restuarant did great food and cocktails, all overlooking the watering hole. In our 3 nights stay we saw elephants, Impala, giraffes, buffalo and warthogs all visiting for a drink. The Boma dinner was fun, chaotic but fun! The Vulture feeding was also worth checking out.
