An exremely luxurious hotel, of a different era. A huge lobby, reminding me very much of the Goldern Era as a backdrop. The reception staff were very helpful, but the real gem is an elderly gentleman concierge' who knows everything about San Francisco and beyond.

In my mind Fairmont is a safe bet and a price tag to match. Hoping price meets value we opted for 3 nights here. Firstly it does not stack up on value. Location is good. We thought a nice area but the first thing we were given at check in was a map and an entire area behind the hotel circled where we needed to avoid! San Fran in general is in crisis. There’s a huge vagrant / drug problem and the streets are scary and we did not feel safe walking anywhere. We Ubered even the shortest distances. The size of our room was good. We had a dressing room in it but overall the room is so dated. There’s a shower curtain on the over bath shower! I’ve not seen anything like this in this millenium! The place feels empty and sterile overall. Old fashioned without the charm. They have a tiki bar in the basement so we went down. There was a line! We only wanted a look and a drink so we were able to get in. It was the most shocking, cringe making thing I’ve ever seen! A small pool in the middle and frequent rain showers! A sticky carpet and a stench of chlorine. How people were eating here I have no idea. If you’re thinking of paying this kind of pricing I am guessing there has to be better available in San Francisco. We also stayed at San Francisco Proper which should be avoided too.

We love the central location of the Fairmont. Each staff member was helpful and kind. We were upgraded to a suite which was superb. The bedroom and living room were beautifully decorated and the bathroom was spacious. The view of the water and city made it even more special. The lobby has an old world feeling yet the hotel is up to date with 21st Century charm.

This is a fancy old hotel and that has its pluses and minuses. On the plus side, the public areas are ornate and beautiful. The service is absolutely top notch. The rooms are spacious with tall ceilings. Surprisingly good Internet. The location is close to a lot of shopping and restaurants. But that comes with some cautions. Being old, the windows are single pane so the outside noise is quite loud. It’s pricey for room sizes. Getting Netflix or Prime on the TV is a joke. Try getting ice. It’s available but they want you to use the bellman. Space in their room fridge? Completely filled with purchase items. So it’s 3 stars at best for us.

The Fairmont San Francisco is absolutely stunning. The architecture is both unique and timeless, creating a truly classic and elegant atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional Valet was friendly and accommodating, setting the tone for a wonderful stay. Christian at the front desk went out of his way to ensure our comfort by upgrading our room to a double queen, as our original reservation was for just one queen bed and we were a party of three. I also want to extend a special thank you to Jesse Caetano, Director of Food & Beverage, who personally reached out to check in and offer assistance during our stay. I was visiting family in San Bruno and celebrating my birthday, and to my surprise, I was welcomed with a thoughtful birthday amenity of assorted pastries in the room they were absolutely delicious. Thank you, Fairmont San Francisco, for making my stay truly unforgettable. Your staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and special. I can’t wait to return.
