Reviews for The Merrion

The Merrion, you have my heart ❤️

Wow ! We so much enjoyed our three day stay at the Merrion. This is a place where the staff really care about you. The sense of attention to detail is amazing. The beautiful red brick hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Dublin. From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel special. Our room was not ready so we had a delicious club sandwich in the bar. The wall paper, carpets and sofas are lovely. Our room was in the more modern part situated in the back. Very quiet and cozy. A huge bed. I can’t think of anything negative to say about the Merrion. We had dinner in the two hotel restaurants and they were excellent. Once we had breakfast in our room and it was great. My husband swam in the pool and loved it. I was given a Merrion bookmark, a Merrion cloth for my glasses , delicious chocolates. The bathroom is spotless and comfortable. The staff is so welcoming. We can’t wait to come back !

By far the best hotel in Dublin.

By far the best hotel in Dublin. The location is perfect, in the heart of the nicest part of the city. The building is wonderful, historic yet warm and comfortable. But it is the staff who make the experience of the Merrion like nothing else. It's our third time staying here, even though we live less than 10 minutes away. Despite this we managed to make an error with our booking and arrived having booked for the following month! But nothing is ever a problem and Bernie at the front desk went out of her way to accommodate us and gave us a beautiful room overlooking the government buildings across the road. Service everywhere is attentive but relaxed. Food in the Garden Room was excellent and reasonably priced compared to many places in Dublin - again with warm and friendly service. Breakfast is as good as you'll find anywhere in the world. On the last day my wife couldn't finish her breakfast and asked that it be packed up for our dog and we were given a mountain of sausages to bring home! The pool/spa are an oasis of calm in the city. We can't wait to be back. Next time we'll book afternoon tea, which looked amazing as we were walking through the lounge.

Wonderful, relaxing atmosphere surrounded by lovely art collection. Warm, open fire and beautiful music on piano played by charming young woman. Food was delicious too!

Suite 380

We stayed recently for 3 nights. Love when you arrive, luggage quickly taken by the fantastic concierges. We paid for car parking. It takes the stress of looking for parking. We were kindly upgraded to room 380, a beautiful suite. Issac brought up our luggage, and was very friendly. Thank you Sheila and John from the front office team. Loved room 380, cosiest bed ever. Lovely clean and spacious room with a nice street view. Whilst there was a slight delay waiting on breakfast on 2 mornings, a very friendly waiter (with red hair) was very attentive offering mimosa or orange juice. Claire is a wee star on breakfast. Thanks Claire for the banana bread! Really enjoyed the breakfast, such a treat. We dined in The Cellar bar and really enjoyed this also. Thanks to David and his excellent team for a very enjoyable evening. Michelle served us, and she was A star. The Merrion is very central for walking about Dublin. This was our sixth stay and we enjoyed every minute. We love to see Stephen, the concierge, a true gentleman. Sorry we did not get to see David, this time! Nice to see Vanessa again. Also need to mention Caroline on reception, always so helpful and Oliver, who very quickly took all our luggage to the car. I got my hair done in The Merrion hairdressers and was very pleased with it. Very friendly and talented hairdresser. Sorry I have forgotten his name! Overall we had another amazing stay. Very relaxing and fantastic staff. Thank you to all the team.

We didn't want to leave!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

When you don't wish to leave, you know the hotel was a 5 star experience and more! Let me encourage those whose flights arrive in the early a.m. to book the night before; we did, and it was such a help, regardless of not using the room until our flight landed at 5:30 am. Having that proverbial "soft place to land" was exquisite after the cramped Aer Lingus flight! I just wish we had brought our swim suits, the pool was so inviting. Everything from the concierge service, reservations and desk staff, housekeeping, Garden Room wait staff (with delightful vegan options for me) was exceptional. We had a Superior King, and stayed two nights each at the start and the finish of our 10 day holiday. I will say I was glad to have brought my new "Hush" white noise machine (from Amazon) to override some of the sounds in the hall and next room, to be expected in a booked, lively hotel where there are children. So Hush did the trick. The soaking tub was amazing, we were able to watch the Eagles game on the TV from the comfort of the beautiful bed that enveloped us, the hotel art and lovely holiday decor throughout was so special, and all the little thoughtful in-room touches -- we want to return as soon as possible! The Merrion Hotel made our holiday perfect -- thank you to everyone on the hotel team and happy new year to you all!
