Reviews for The Merrion

Wonderful location and hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Our second visit, we stayed in a Queen room in the newer courtyard area. A good sized room, but being in a city rather than the “country/town” locations of the other places we stayed on this trip, it was one of the smaller. But very well appointed, a good sized and updated bathroom. Plenty of staff, whether at reception, bellmen, concierge, bar or dining. The location is wonderful, many sights (like the Archaeology Museum) and shopping within walking distance and a hop on/hop off bus stop across the street will take you to many locations that you might not want to pursue on foot. We ate dinner twice in the Garden Room, service was excellent and the menu and wine list had many choices. I want to especially compliment the evening maitre ‘d Adil. There was a large (and loud) family celebration near the rear of the restaurant. Within minutes, we knew that my husband would have a hard time with a conversation due to the noise level, and we were fortunate to be reseated at a lovely table closer to the entrance to the dining room. The second night (which was on a weekend) we saw several other (smaller, quieter) family celebrations and it was lovely to observe the way the Merrion is a special place not only for travelers but for locals as well. my only complaint: the website only shows the Garden Room as a breakfast option, so we ate there on the first morning. It’s a buffet, not inexpensive, and we are not big breakfast eaters. But after breakfast, we saw several women in the drawing room, having coffee or tea and a scone, which is more to our liking.

Excellent for a conference

The Merrion Hoyle in Dublin is a top class venue. Starting with its location which is excellent and walking distance to multiple bars, restaurants and well known landmarks of Dublin. Service is exemplary throughout. Rooms are nice as are the restaurants. Excellent.

Amazing hotel - great location

Our stay at the Merrion was wonderful! The staff was helpful, meals were amazing, and our room was luxurious. The hotel was well-located to walk to sites, museums, shops, and restaurants/pubs.

Amazing hotel and staff. We go here every year for our anniversary even though we only live an hour away. Lovely welcome, such attention to detail. 5 star experience with all the warmth and friendliness you could possibly want for a special experience.

A Piece of Heaven in a Busy Urban Environment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Merrion Dublin is an exceptional hotel. It is a piece of heaven in a busy urban environment and very well situated within the city. All staff are welcoming, professional, competent, and eager to please - the level of service is outstanding. The hotel, restaurant, bar and other facilities are excellent throughout and well maintained. It has a nice art collection as well. The garden in the centre of the property is outstanding and a wonderful place for a bite to eat, a drink, or just to walk around in. The Garden Restaurant and the Cellar Bar are must. There are so many positive things to say about this hotel they cannot all be said here. My wife Julia and I have had the chance to stay in a number of the top hotels around the world and the Merrion is right up with the best of them. We highly recommend it.
