Reviews for The Merrion

We learned the true meaning of service going “above and beyond” at the Merrion.

We loved our stay at the Merrion, for reasons both ordinary and extraordinary. First, the ordinary: the rooms are spacious and visually pleasing (we stayed in the deluxe king and then the superior king rooms), the beds are comfortable (ask for firm pillows if the default are too soft), the staff are kind and attentive (during turndown they saw I had a book on my nightstand and when we got back to the room I saw they’d added a Merrion-branded bookmark!), and the location is in walking distance from a variety of good pubs for music that aren’t crowded tourist traps compared to the places on Temple Bar. I should also mention that the Michelin starred restaurant attached to the hotel is delicious and amazing. Now, the extraordinary: during our stay, not only did I catch a nasty cold and sore throat, but the east coast of the US was hit with a historic snowstorm that cancelled a huge number of flights, including our flight home. When I got sick, guest services worked to ensure that I could have a same day phone consultation with a doctor even if it was 9:45 pm, so that I had a prescription ready for pickup at a pharmacy around the corner when they opened the next morning. They were also solicitous, bringing me hot water with lemon and ginger and inquiring after my health every time I walked by the front desk for days after. They also found us an empty room, first for two nights, and then for one more, when our flights were disrupted, despite being fully booked with a business conference. All we had to do was pack our bags in a corner and the staff took care of transferring everything. Despite my illness and the stress of rebooking travel, our visit to Dublin will still go down as one of the best trips we’ve ever taken, and some of that is down to having such a supportive home base for our adventures at the Merrion.

Probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. From the minute we arrived till we left - the staff were incredible - couldn't have been any nicer.

A wonderful hotel in terms of the location, decor but most what is most outstanding is the staff. We had a really enjoyable stay and just loved everything about the hotel. Thanks to all the staff who work so hard to provide excellent customer service.

Outstanding in every way

My husband and I stayed at the Merrion on our first & last evening while visiting Ireland in the month of September. We stayed at the Merrion on our first night & our last night. The first room we stayed in was room 287. Our view was of the lovely gardens. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day we were there so we didn’t get to enjoy as much of the gardens that we would’ve liked. On our last evening we stayed in room 282. This time our room was of the Merrion Street. This view was also great for watching all of the people and the happenings outside of our window. Both rooms were quite spacious. The bed and all of the furnishings were excellent. The pillows & the bed linens were soft which made for a very comfortable stay. The bathroom was quite large with a separate tub and shower. The room was impeccably clean. Our package included breakfast for both mornings. The food was very good and the service was excellent. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the service was excellent. The staff were all very professional and very helpful. All of the Bellmen greeted us warmly and made us feel like family. I would highly recommend staying at the Merrion. Can’t wait to stay here the next time we visit Dublin.
