About the Hotel

The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, hidden within the folds of Maui's verdant landscape, is the picture of posh. This decorated AAA Five-Diamond Award beachfront resort, which recently underwent a $180-million transformation, sits on a 54-acre expanse and is more magnificent than ever. From the airy guest rooms to the half-dozen restaurants, The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua will amaze even the most seasoned of travelers. Its stylish rooms boast new furnishings and amenities, including dark wood floors, flat-panel televisions, sleek marble bathrooms with showers and separate tubs, spacious lanais, and island-inspired artwork. Insomniacs will enjoy the convenience of the 24-hour ocean view fitness center and yoga studio. Perhaps the resort's piece de resistance, though, is the addition of a new 17,500-square-foot spa retreat boasting 15 plush treatment rooms, private outdoor shower gardens, a pair of al fresco couples cabanas, plus relaxation areas fashioned after volcanic stone grottos and outfitted with whirlpools, steam rooms and saunas.

Reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua

it’s fine.

it’s fiiiiine. the rooms are very dated. service, pool service, in room dining, dining in general all much closer to a Westin than a Ritz. Not bad but not Ritz. That being said gorgeous property. Beach is a little far and although it feels overpriced the rest of Maui is too and it feels more a reflection of that. If you can afford better do it otherwise you’ll have a good not great stay.

Would not repeat

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Writing this as I check in, haven’t event finished the stay yet. Will update review after the stay. But for now… - mandatory $65/day valet with no self parking anywhere nearby - did not honor ambassador upgrade despite suite availability online and it being a special occasion. - $60 daily resort fee covers WiFi and Lei at arrival, random beach walks? total waste Not a luxury property by any means on service or grounds. Would not waste points and definitely would not pay to stay here. Hopefully the stay changes my mind.

Wonderful vacation

We spent a week at the Kapalua Ritz-Carlton in April 2026. The views from the hotel and the Kapalua Coastal Trail (easily accessible from the resort property) were amazing. Kapalua is a little quieter than Ka'anapali but it was very easy to access all of it's sites with a short 15 min drive. The weather was beautiful - low 80s, sun and a little breeze most days. We received excellent service at the resort, including in most of the restaurants. The Ritz-Carlton is expensive and you definitely see it in the dining prices; we found all the restaurant options to have a variety of menu options and excellent service but did leave the property for several meals. Our room, which included a lanai with a firepit, was spacious and clean. Some have noted that the furnishings are dated but we didn't find that to be an issue.

The Gold Standard of Hospitality—Nothing Else Comes Close!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Staying at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua has been the best resort experience I’ve ever had. I travel 3–4 times a year, and I can confidently say this property has set a new standard for service and hospitality. What impressed me most is that I’m still mid-stay as I write this, and I already feel compelled to share how exceptional everything has been. The level of service is truly outstanding—from the bell staff and valet to housekeeping and every hotel employee we’ve interacted with. What really stands out is how genuinely personal the experience feels. Every staff member treats you like a returning guest, and even remembering names adds a thoughtful, welcoming touch that makes a big difference. I don’t say this lightly, but this has been one of the most impressive resort stays I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. I will absolutely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier luxury stay in Maui.
