The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, hidden within the folds of Maui's verdant landscape, is the picture of posh. This decorated AAA Five-Diamond Award beachfront resort, which recently underwent a $180-million transformation, sits on a 54-acre expanse and is more magnificent than ever. From the airy guest rooms to the half-dozen restaurants, The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua will amaze even the most seasoned of travelers. Its stylish rooms boast new furnishings and amenities, including dark wood floors, flat-panel televisions, sleek marble bathrooms with showers and separate tubs, spacious lanais, and island-inspired artwork. Insomniacs will enjoy the convenience of the 24-hour ocean view fitness center and yoga studio. Perhaps the resort's piece de resistance, though, is the addition of a new 17,500-square-foot spa retreat boasting 15 plush treatment rooms, private outdoor shower gardens, a pair of al fresco couples cabanas, plus relaxation areas fashioned after volcanic stone grottos and outfitted with whirlpools, steam rooms and saunas.

So, I tried to leave this review on the Marriott review site, but they have, understandably blocked anyone form leaving a review for Marriott Bonvoy members. I have lifeitme elite staus with Marriott having stayed 1785 night in Marriott properties. But at any Ritz-Carlton, Marriott has decided that is worth zero. If that wasn't enough, my "Deluxe Ocean View" room only has a view of the ocean if I sit on the balcony in one of two chairs. Check in was horrible, with the staff taking to eachother via earpieces and ignoring the person (me) in front of them. Bags took 45 minute to arrive from car to room. No wonder has this hotel rated so low in Trip advisor., Plan on a Shereton quality experience for 5X the price for everything.

Excellent everything!! The club package is amazing, Some of the best food I had!! All of the people were so nice!! The suites the furthest from the lobby are well worth the walk!! Listening to the ocean and no traffic in the hallway was amazing!!

Looks the same as when I came in 2008. Wood is worn, carpets are musty and hotel is very tired. They also do not recognize Marriott ambassador status in any genuine way. Alfonso the hotel manager had our status in the computer incorrectly and we had to show our online account with Bonvoy to get him to listen! He was smug and annoyed we asked if there were any room upgrades during our trip. This is not the usual kindness we have experienced with this hotel brand. There is no turndown service or attention to detail. I have loved Ritz Carlton for years and had some amazing experiences at these hotels but this is far from that. Many guests have been commenting that other properties are more updated with better beach access (Westin and Four Seasons) . It doesn’t make sense to pay premium prices for this hotel as it has been more like an average Marriott hotel experience at best. Spa experience was definitely not customer focused to the point of being insulting. If you are visiting Maui I would recommend a boutique hotel that strives the share the beauty of the Hawaiin culture. Spend your money elsewhere.

The Ritz-Carlton Maui is pure paradise — from the moment you arrive, the views, service, and atmosphere are unmatched. The property is stunning with lush grounds, ocean views, and an amazing pool area. Staff go above and beyond, making you feel truly welcomed. The rooms are spotless and beautifully designed. Perfect for relaxing, golfing, or exploring Kapalua. Worth every penny — unforgettable stay!

The property itself is beautiful — lush, well-maintained, and definitely feels like a premium resort. However, I wouldn’t quite call it “Ritz standard.” The staff were friendly but not as well-trained or polished as what we experienced at the Four Seasons. Service overall was good, but not exceptional. Now, the food… this is where things really fall short. With the exception of the lobby restaurant — which serves a fantastic burger and a delicious Caesar salad — the rest was disappointing. The poolside menu was underwhelming, the beach restaurant was just okay, and the buffet was mediocre at best. Unfortunately, the pricing is very much Ritz-level, but the quality isn’t even close. If you’re staying here, skip most of the on-property dining and head to the small convenience store right by the entrance — surprisingly, their breakfast and sandwiches are much better. Overall, I’m still giving it 4 stars because the property and amenities are gorgeous. But the culinary team needs a serious overhaul, and the service could use some sharpening to live up to the Ritz name.
