The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans

This property is on Canal Street which is a sketchy area. Although it is close to the Quarter, there are homeless people on the street and some of them sleeping or asking for money. It is convenient to the street car and to downtown but the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel is very nice with the common areas a hub of activity. Great people watching on a weekend. The lounge has jazz music at night and the lounge turns into a restaurant during the day. The rooms are spacious but could use some updating and some deep cleaning. However it was clean.

Conveniently located on the edge of the French Quarter, the hotel is also within walking distance of Caesars, Canal and St. Charles Street streetcar lines, and Riverwalk. The hotel itself is nice, though our room was tiny (3rd floor/same as check-in) and tucked behind and easy-to-miss door down a hall that lacks the grandeur one would expect from Ritz-Carlton. The hotel staff were all nice and pleasurable.

The Ritz in New Orleans is my favorite hotel! Have been many times over the years. It embodies southern hospitality but with so much elegance and grace. Every employee is always professional, friendly and helpful. The Davenport Lounge becomes an extension of your room. If you are lucky enough to see Jeremy Davenport perform it is a huge plus. The beignets are the best in NOLA - and Byron Buck, the bartender, makes the best Bloody Mary’s anywhere. In the evenings if you are lucky Jason is running the bar - managing a busy place with style and grace and constant friendliness, Byron and Jason really make the hotel extra special.

Sinful for what they charge for this hotel. The entire hotel needs a makeover. Up charge for everything and definitely not worth it. Rooms smell bad hallways were dirty & one day we didnt even house keeping service.

The staff was absolutely amazing—friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to make every part of my stay perfect. Every area of the hotel exudes class and elegance, from the beautifully designed lobby to the relaxing common areas. My room was remarkably clean and well-appointed, offering both comfort and luxury. Every amenity felt thoughtfully curated, and I truly appreciated how spotless everything was. The staff was attentive in every area of the hotel, including the gym, where they ensured guests had everything they needed for a great workout. Dining at the hotel restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The food was phenomenal—each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The wait staff provided outstanding service, and the light jazz music playing in the background added a charming New Orleans touch that made the meal even more enjoyable. Even the valet parking service was exceptional. The associates were prompt, courteous, and incredibly efficient with both drop-off and pick-up. This is, without a doubt, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans sets the gold standard for hospitality, elegance, and comfort. I can’t wait to return!
