Even though I was dressed in head to toe designer clothing, we were denied access to the hotel due to my husband’s “ trainers “. I did a verbal survey at our Michelin restaurant dinner and even locals were embarrassed by this disregard of Americans via an obsolete standard. In Seattle, all tech titans are understated. Shame on the outdated Ritz.

The Ritz is a special place. When I arrived I could see that someone brought me a jacket because jacket and tie are required. When she saw I was wearing those she disappeared surreptitiously. The room is more a ballroom, more beautiful than on the pictures. The service is flawless and the food is a modern take on Escoffier. The amuses bouche were delicious and the starter, cocquilles with a curry sauce a great beginning. The main dish, pigeon was delicious, with some liver, pea puree and excellent sauce. As a pudding we took the crêpes Suzette that are prepared at your table. Loads of booze, bit on the pricey side but where can you order such a classic dish better than here at the Ritz? Great location for a special event, but also for foodies highly recommended.

A classic luxury experience with that old school royal vibe. The service is super attentive and makes you feel really special and the famous afternoon tea is definitely worth it. The hotel looks stunning and elegant but some parts feel a bit traditional rather than modern. Overall it’s expensive but for the experience and atmosphere it’s something you should try at least once.
