We have for many years had two stays at Shangri-La twice a year. We have always wanted to stay in the Krungtep Wing and the Riverside Lounge. A few years ago, the Riverside Lounge was closed and replaced by Horizon. We feel that this has not been very successful. The staff at Horizon are friendly, but both the breakfast and other services have become worse and worse. Last Christmas, there was no room for everyone who had access to the Horizon lounge. Sunbeds and umbrellas by the pools are in very poor condition. The cushions on the sunbeds are not clean, are full of holes, and smell bad. Most of the sun loungers are worn out and uncomfortable to lie on. Breakfast in Next to is not particularly good compared to what you pay for a room at Shangri-La. At check-in at the Krungtep Wing, not all staff are equally friendly. Service has become worse and worse. It's a minor issue, but soaps, shampoo, etc., which used to be of good quality, have also been downgraded. In the rooms/bathrooms, there can be a smell of mold. It is sad that it has deteriorated so much at Shangri-La. We have always looked forward to going there. But now they only have the location left. As we see it, Shangri-La now does not deserve more than 3 stars. And it is relatively expensive for a hotel that feels like a three-star hotel. We stay in Bangkok two to three times a year and are now looking for another hotel after having stayed at Shangri-La many, many times.

Disappointed with the faulty electrics and no bath soaps , you had to fill a cup from the shower as it was affixed to wall Also still waiting for security deposit and it's been 9 days , they say it's our bank but our bank says they can't do anything until the merchant releases the funds, I have sent them proof . Better to pay cash then you won't have to wait for your money back . They should not be allowed to hold your money like this for this long , we checked out over 1 week ago , disgusting,

Centrally located in downtown Vientiane with easy access. Convenient, large and well equipped room. Great fitness area and outdoor pool to work out. Breakfast and lunch buffets are tasty and diverse.

Back in 2019 we visited Shangri-La and were mesmerized. I told my husband that this was a place we had to come back to and after traveling around the world over the past years and coming back this October I definitely have to repeat myself: it truly is one of the best hotels we have seen. The service is exceptional, from the moment you get off the car and your bags are taken care of, the Poitier opens the door and all you see is smiling faces. The welcome at the reception in the beautiful lobby makes you already feel that you've entered a special place. The rooms are beautiful, even if a bit older now, you can see how elegant this hotel is. The mesmerizing view over the river from the balcony took my breath away. What really defines Shangri-La is its people, such kindness, all smiles. A must visit is the Chi Spa, simply awesome. Thank you, Shangri-La team for making our stay so wonderful once again. We will definitely return.

I noticed that I had lost all the documentation pertaining to my booking as I was checking in at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. It did not seem to matter, since they had all the details of my booking, and to my great surprise I was given an upgrade in the King Kungthrup Wing. An unforgettable experience.
