We have been lucky to stay in several luxury hotels in Peru, and Sumaq Machu Picchu without question offered the most outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, and were knowledgeable and happy to teach us about Peruvian culture and cuisine. Special thanks to Fernando and Luis Manuel in the bar for making us many special cocktails, and Eduardo for providing a wonderful experience in the restaurant. The food overall was very high quality, and we especially enjoyed the romantic tasting menu. It was a lovely setting and very thoughtfully presented by the staff. We also arranged our private tour to Machu Picchu through the hotel, and couldn't be happier that we did! It was very convenient to get an early start directly from the hotel, and the guide selected by the hotel was exceptional. He guided us through all the various lines and entrances like a pro, offered very detailed and interesting information about the archeological site, and helped us to take some amazing photos as well. Our room was also lovely - we had a view directly to the river, which is incredibly loud but at the same time very beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were of a much higher standard than we've seen in other hotels in Peru. If you have time, don't hesitate to stay a few nights to enjoy the wonderful food and service and the beauty of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).

Wonderful service and attention. Johann, Luis and Sandra were above and beyond to make us feel like VIP in our special dining experience in Sumaq.

From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted with a welcome drink, nothing was too much trouble and our room was incredibly comfortable. As our preference for food is plant based we were pleasantly surprised to be offered a dedicated Vegan menu at dinner prepared by a very talented chef and served by an attentive waiter in addition too a huge choice at breakfast. The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Machupicchu and has stunning views from every room. Highly recommended.

Our party of 4, stayed for 1 night to see Machu Picchu. However on the train from Sacred Valley I became very sick. While the others went on to Machu Picchu, the hotel helped me get checked into my room early. The town is very small so it’s just a short walk from the train station. The hotel staff, and particularly David, went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and even arranged for someone to pick up electrolyte beverages. David and the staff were so kind and sincere in their care and attention, it was service better than any hotel I’ve stayed at around the world. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and feels new. Very comfortable bed with lots of pillows. While I didn’t get to personally enjoy the food, my travel partners loved the restaurant for dinner and said it was their best meal in Peru. The breakfast buffet was extensive and very well done.

From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. Shirley, David, and Johnny were very gracious and helpful. The food (both dinner and the breakfast buffet) was excellent, and Luis was great! The room was lovely, with a beautiful river view. The river was loud, but it blocked out all the other noise. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a superior stay when going to Machu Picchu.
