The Sumaq Hotel was a wonderful base for exploring Machu Picchu and Aqua Calientes. Our room was clean and well appointed, overlooking the Urubamba River. We had several enjoyable meals in the dining room with servers like Andree who were enthusiastic about describing Peruvian cuisine. We also took advantage of the Hotel’s spa and tour guide service and found all the staff we encountered like Nary and Sonja in the spa and guide Rodrigo to be top notch.

This is a luxury property facing the roaring river. The staff is understated and gracious. The food is the best we’ve had yet in Peru. Clean wonderfully appointed rooms. We had many choices of pillows and even a shower cap. We wished we were staying here longer.

We had a long trip, but when we arrived at the hotel we were treated well. My husband wasn't feeling well, but he received proper attention in the hotel. We are very grateful to Johan for his attention in the restaurant and Frank, who treated us well up on arrival and was always concerned about my husband feeling better when we left. We wished we could have stayed longer in this beautiful hotel.
