Amazing hotel run line it’s in Manhattan NY but in a beautifully remote location. Frank and Shirley were fantastic

I had the chance to stay with friends at Sumaq on my second trip to Machu Picchu, and it was a highlight. Dinner was one of the best I had in Peru (and that's saying a lot considering the delicious food throughout Peru), and the service at the hotel was warm and thoughtful. Don't miss out!

Our 2-night stay at Sumaq was one of our Machu Picchu highlights. The hotel location is ideal for those who prefer being away from the city's crowds and shops. The entire staff was attentive and welcoming the moment we were first greeted. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. High scores on cleanliness and maintenance. It was a treat to enjoy the river view with mountains directly from our window. The river sound when we opened the window was a delight! This is one of the few hotels in the area that has A/C which was great to arrive to after a long day's hike. Our group enjoyed a private tasting menu dinner at night. This was an absolute winner! Each course was perfectly paired with wine. The food was authentic, with local ingredients and beautiful preparations. The chef and his team delivered an impeccable service all throughout. Next time I'm in Machu Picchu, Sumaq will continue being my best pick for location, value, convenience, and the friendliest staff!

This is a really good hotel in an amazing location. We stayed 2 nights on our recent trip to visit Machu Picchu. The quality of the food and service from all the staff was of the highest level. The savoury corn pie starter was the best dish ever. Big shout out for the lovely Spa and the relaxing pedicure and massage from Eva. The absolute only awareness note, which has to be taken into context of the overall narrow valley in which the town is based and the amazing railway infrastructure, is that the narrow gauge line is next to the rear of the hotel. We had a room at the back, referred to as a Garden View on the 5th floor. Eye level with the line. Not excessive noise but just a point to note. Many other properties will be the same as the line cuts through the town. Didn’t spoil the experience for us and I would happily stay again.
