Our trip to Machu Picchu was wonderful in part due to our decision to stay at the Sumaq Hotel. We highly recommend this boutique hotel at the edge of the pueblo. Although the room rate seemed expensive when we booked our trip, the half-board plan and outstanding service made it a great value. Deybi and his colleague met us at the train station when we arrived from Urubamba. He escorted us to the ticket office to purchase an additional circuit for the next day at Machu Picchu. He helped us select the best available circuit and entry time based on our schedule. He also offered to book a private guide - Rodrigo - to accompany us on Circuit 2. With our Machu Picchu tickets in hand, Deybi escorted us to the park bus depot where we purchased two round-trip tickets for $24 US each. This saved us a lot of time the next day since we did not need to stand in line. Finally, Deybi escorted us to the beautiful Sumaq Hotel, a short distance from the center of the pueblo. Deybi’s colleague had carried our two backpacks to the hotel while we were purchasing our tickets. Because we prepaid for our room, as required by the hotel, the check-in process was a breeze. We relaxed in the beautiful lobby and enjoyed Muna tea while Deybi reviewed the details for our upcoming day in Machu Picchu. In summary, we had a wonderful trip to Machu Picchu, despite the afternoon rain, in large part due to the personalized service we received from Deybi, Rodrigo and other staff at the Sumaq Hotel.

Beautiful, comfortable hotel with above and beyond service. They met us at the train station and Freddy carried both our heavy bags to the hotel where they stored them till we checked in, and then stored them again the next day when he brought them back to the station in time for our departing train. The food and service were excellent and all the staff were friendly and kind. We would definitely stay again if we return to Mschu Picchu.

Jorge gave us a fantastic demonstration on how to prepare ceviche. He gave us great instructions and help if we do not have the exact Peruvian ingredients.
