Perfect hotel to stay at if traveling to Machu Picchu! Very family friendly. We have 3 small kids and they had activities for them and made it enjoyable for everyone. Mariano was a fabulous waiter that made our dinner a great experience. Daniel was a great concierge and helped us plan our time. Would highly recommend the Allco package which includes tickets for Machu Piccu and had 2 tour guides, one for the adults and one for the kids

I wanted to tell you food service worker Milagro who served us a number of times was wonderful. She was happy, polite, remembered our names and food/drink choices from day to day. Very professional and pleasant to be around.

The Sumaq is certainly a 5 star experience hotel and restaurant. Comfort is king here. The food at the restaurant was outstanding with a true chef at the helm. All waitstaff, reception, especially Frank, and everyone else I encountered were friendly, happy, and helpful. Superior decor and relaxing atmosphere. This is THE hotel to experience.

★★★★★ From the moment we stepped off the train in Aguas Calientes, Sumaq set the tone for an extraordinary experience. Their representative Vladimir was waiting for us at 3:30, greeted us warmly, and immediately arranged for our luggage to be taken ahead to the hotel. That meant we got to enjoy the scenic walk from the train station without a care in the world, arriving to an effortless check-in and a complimentary welcome drink crafted fresh by the bar staff: a dragon fruit and passion fruit blend that was absolutely refreshing. The room itself is stunning: spacious, beautifully appointed, and equipped with everything you’d expect from a luxury property and then some. A private spa, his-and-her sinks, a generous walk-in shower, and L’Occitane soaps and toiletries throughout. It’s the kind of room where you immediately feel like you’re somewhere special. The spa alone is worth the stay. We enjoyed a 90-minute treatment with Mary and Sonia that began with a private jacuzzi bath followed by an incredible couples massage. The facilities were impeccable: spotlessly clean, beautifully arranged, and perfectly set up for a couples experience. Pure relaxation by two expert masseuses. Sumaq also connected us with Joel, a private tour guide we booked through the hotel, who met with us this evening to walk through our plan for both a sunset and sunrise exploration of Machu Picchu. His knowledge and enthusiasm has us counting down the hours. And then there’s the restaurant. I’m not exaggerating when I say this was some of the best food we’ve had since arriving in Peru, and we’ve eaten at 3 Michelin star restaurants in Lima so far on this trip. Our waiter Andree was phenomenal. He curated a spectacular meal for us with expert recommendations, walking us through every dish, where the ingredients were sourced, the story behind each preparation, all delivered with genuine warmth and pride. The entire wait staff was excellent, but Andree elevated the evening into something truly memorable. Honestly, I almost don’t want to write this review because Sumaq feels like one of Peru’s best-kept secrets. For anyone who wants to experience Machu Picchu in luxurious style with world-class hospitality from arrival to departure, this is the place. Every detail was considered, every staff member was exceptional, and its making our visit absolutely unforgettable. Five stars, without hesitation.

We had the most awesome stay at this hotel. They upgraded us to a room overlooking the river and it was fabulous. The service is AMAZING! Johnny and Jose were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble - they went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect for us. The restaurant is also amazing, we had a delicious dinner and the buffet breakfast is a work of art in its presentation. This is the perfect hotel for your stay in Aguas Calientes, it is one of the best hotels and service I have experienced. I highly recommend it! Rowena Roberts
