Pour drinks on the back lawn the first afternoon and three views line up at once: Dye Fore fairways below, the Marina past them, the Caribbean to the horizon. Villa Palmeras sits on the Vista Chavón bluff, eight bedrooms built around a central open-air pavilion, sixteen guests, an included cook handling all the meals.

The arrival walk crosses a wooden footbridge over a lily pond before you reach the main pavilion. Morning drinks happen on the lawn between the royal palms with the Marina spread out below. The heated infinity pool runs along the bluff edge, with a curtained daybed loggia just behind it. The second kitchen takes lunch service without pulling anyone out of the pool day. The formal dining room seats sixteen at paired round tables, and the alfresco dining terrace under the timber-beam canopy carries the same view as the pool. By sundown the group has split between the pavilion, the gazebo, and the daybed.

Altos de Chavón is a short cart ride up the road, and Dye Fore tees off at the same address. Teeth of the Dog and The Links are a longer ride through the resort core, with tee times arranged through the resort concierge. Teeth of the Dog is ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards.
