Five-star Tortuga Bay Hotel is Oscar de la Renta's vision of the Dominican Republic – it’s the designer’s first boutique hotel, and his vibrant signature patterns shine through French doors in villas awash in color. Palm trees sway on one of the area’s nicest sections of beach, and the resort is committed to preserving it – its decade-old Puntacana Ecological Foundation won Travel + Leisure’s Global Vision Award for its health, education and cultural programs in the local community.

The food was late every day. Nobody asks you at poolside if want a drink or food . But they stand around all day . Rooms were great. Beach was nice My 80 year old mom fell into water from rock. The waves kept throwing her and I freaked out screaming for help because I couldn't get her up. When I tell you 3 workers stood there doing nothing . Never came over to offer assistance . Next day said to my mom . I see you struggled yesterday ??? Last meal of night . The Grill sent over pizza not cooked . Hamburger ice cold . Fries ice cold . Took over hour and half to be sent after several what's app messages . There car service that's for guest service left my family downtown . Never answered my message for 45 min. We had to Uber which is fine but the purpose of spending 12000 on week is to have certain amnesties . Expect to spend 600 for 2 people golf 9 holes on cheapest hole . We travel a lot . Some stuff were kind but some were useless Won't be back

Tortuga Bay has become a second home to us. This is our 10th year returning and our fifth as a family.. How do we love Tortuga Bay? Let me count the ways. 1. The property is the definition of quiet , private luxury. The rooms have all been beautifully, renovated with a beautiful, cool Caribbean vibe.. 2. The living space is enormous with each villa having a terrace or balcony .. 3. The villas were designed by Oscar de la Renta and and are stunning . The set up is ideal for families . My husband and I take the top room and my daughters take the ground floor which includes two bedrooms that open to a huge living and dining area walk in closets, a small kitchen area . The suite leads to a spacious terrace that goes directly onto the beach. The views are spectacular. The sunrises are amazing.. 4. Your beach experience is totally private with comfortable chairs, and attentive , charismatic service led by the wonderful JoJo.. The sea grass is raked up daily. The water is clean though I would recommend water shoes can be a little rocky when you first go in.. 5. The airport experience is a snap… ten minutes away.. VIP service. No lines, no hassle. 6. The new food and beverage manager, Thomas has made very tasty additions to the menu!! We love it when Antonio and Alcedo are there… 7. All this would not be possible without the omnipresent, amazing manager Blanca. She deeply cares about the quality of the guest experience on all levels. She’s there constantly …available for suggestions and or friendly chitchat . This holiday season she added more activities for kids , fun events for adults and a fabulous flamenco show. 8. And finally, the New Year’s Eve party at La Cana is a totally over the top blowout , featuring sumptuous buffet with lobster and caviar, champagne and wine all evening and the best musicians in the Dominican Republic. They also have a whole entire separate children’s program.

Truly an outstanding destination. The resort is tiny and is situated on a much larger resort, giving guests access to all the restaurants and amenities. The staff were exceptional, friendly and professional. I cannot get back to Tortuga fast enough!

This might actually be paradise. We have stayed at dozens of luxury properties across the Caribbean, and Tortuga Bay is hands down the single best resort we have ever experienced. It is not even close. This review highlights what makes it truly exceptional, along with a small amount of constructive feedback that would elevate an already incredible stay even further. THE VILLA: Simply breathtaking. We stayed in a two bedroom ocean villa, and it is the finest accommodation we have ever had anywhere in the Caribbean, including stays at top tier luxury brands. The bedrooms are massive, the bathrooms are enormous with dual sinks in each, and the living and dining spaces are expansive, comfortable, and beautifully designed. This is not just a place to sleep, it is a place to spread out and relax. The terrace is the star of the show. There are four separate outdoor areas to unwind, including a full dining table. Just beyond the terrace is a grassy area that leads straight to the beach, where chairs and water equipment are already waiting. It is an ideal oceanfront setup. The villas are also thoughtfully spaced apart, providing privacy. We were lucky enough to be in the southernmost villa, which felt especially secluded with no neighbor on one side and quick access to the water. The northernmost villa offers the same advantage. THE PROPERTY/DINING: The resort is expansive yet incredibly easy to navigate thanks to having your own personal golf cart and bicycles, complete with your name on the license plate. Not having to rely on anyone for transportation is a luxury on its own. We had access to three different beaches. We loved the beach right outside our villa the most, but La Cana was a very close second. Every restaurant we visited was excellent, and each somehow topped the last. It really just comes down to what you are in the mood for that evening. The pools are pristine. La Cana is lively and great for families, while the Bamboo pool was often completely empty and just as stunning. Do not miss the ecological reserve. Bring your swimsuit and explore the spring pools. Swimming there surrounded by nature and seeing dozens of tortugas was one of the highlights of our entire trip. *Important Dining Note* One quick heads up if you are considering dining at Bao on property. A deposit is required in advance, but it was not applied to our final bill and the staff on site was unaware of it. Resolving the issue took nearly 30 minutes, which is not how you want to spend your vacation time. Bao was the only restaurant on the property with this policy, and the confusion around it really detracted from what should have been a relaxed, enjoyable evening. Unless Bao is a must for you, we would recommend skipping it. *Major Dining Tip for Future Guests* The restaurants in the village are outstanding and significantly more affordable. Think roughly one third of the cost of dining on property. Getting there requires using the complimentary shuttle, but it was easy, quick, and very convenient. We wish we had discovered this sooner. ACTIVITIES: We loved the variety of activities offered. Pickleball was a favorite, with tennis and padel also available. Golfing was spectacular with incredible views, and renting clubs was seamless. We also did a boat and snorkel tour. We personally love being on a boat anywhere we travel, but the snorkeling itself was very basic. If you are not a big boat person, this is one experience you could skip without missing much. THE AMBASSADORS: You are assigned a team of ambassadors who assist you daily from 8am to 11pm via WhatsApp. They are friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your stay perfect. This is also where our biggest piece of constructive feedback comes in. The ambassadors themselves were wonderful, but there were simply too many rotating through each day. Often we had two or even three different ambassadors overseeing us in a single day, which led to small details getting lost either between ambassadors or between us and them. Nothing was major, but at a resort of this caliber, even small mix ups should not happen. There were a handful of requests that required follow up or correction, which meant we occasionally had to double check things ourselves. This is minor feedback, but an easy fix that would noticeably elevate the experience. BIGGEST AREA FOR IMPROVEMENT: Breakfast is included each morning at Bamboo with either the Continental or American options. Both are delicious with very generous portions. However, if you choose to have that same breakfast delivered to your villa, you are charged not only a delivery fee, which is understandable, but also charged again for the breakfast items themselves. After spending thousands of dollars on the stay and dining, this felt like unnecessary nickel and diming and should be adjusted so guests do not feel penalized for enjoying breakfast in their villa. FINAL THOUGHTS: Tortuga Bay is truly paradise. We stayed eight nights and easily could have stayed eight more. The space, the atmosphere, the freedom, and most of all the people made this an unforgettable experience. Everyone we encountered was genuinely warm and welcoming, and it truly felt like they were happy to have us there. Address a few of these small items and Tortuga Bay can confidently stand among the very best resorts in the world.

Tortuga Bay Club is a 1st Class Resort. Excellent surroundings, accommodation, private beach, dinning, excellent Spa and Golf facilities and one of the most beautiful golf corse I have ever played and enjoyed. (Don’t ask about my score)
