Definitely worth it

We are leaving today and so sad we couldn’t stay longer. This is truly a special place where you can just enjoy yourself in the best ways. The food was excellent from start to finish. The staff knew our kids and were so friendly and warm. The guides love what they do and that totally rubs off on you. I’m a city girl that LOVES fly fishing now? How did that happen? We are really grateful for the love and care the guides and staff showed us during our stay. The facilities are curated with a stylish creativity I haven’t ever seen before. We can’t wait to return. It’s a special place ran by a very special group of folks.

Unforgettable family vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We brought our family to RRC to celebrate our 10th anniversary and a 50th birthday. We anxiously awaited this vacation for a year and had high expectations. It exceeded anything we could’ve imagine! We stayed in the Grayling canvas cabin with our 3 children, ages 8, 7, and 4. The accommodations were impeccable. We were in a canvas cabin, and there was still not a speck of dust or dirt to be found! Kudos to the housekeeping. Food and drink options were endless and outstanding. One of our kids’ favorite things was putting their robes on and walking across to get pastries and juice from the Blue Canteen each morning. And the Totem Pole mocktail was an evening treat for them from Granite Lodge bar. The activities were so fun, and the Flint Forest Rangers activities allowed my husband and I to fly fish, take a trail ride and go to the spa! The kids loved the saloon in the evenings and playing with the other children. Thank you to all of the staff for being so patient and engaging with the kids! We did forgo one afternoon activity because we wanted some time to take in the property. It is so beautiful, but if you plan a morning and afternoon activity for every day of your stay you won’t have time to appreciate all of the special spaces around the ranch. It’s been almost a year since we visited RRC and our children still talk about it like it was yesterday and wear their tie-died Flint Forest Ranger tshirts proudly! Thank you, Brooke, for taking such good care of us and making us feel like family.

Detailed review of the Ranch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

My wife Sydney and I just bought an “escape cabin” on the hillside near Philipsburg, Montana. Philipsburg is a super fun place, with almost anything you can think of to do, but without all of the snobby fuss and showboating that turned us off from buying a place in Sun Valley, or Durango, etc. It is also like stepping back into time, where life is simple. This said, we DO enjoy some of the finer things in life from time to time. We are fortunate to have experienced some of the top rated resorts in the world via my tech career and Sydneys design career, so we were intrigued when we learned that the best Guest Ranch, and for that fact, one of the best ALL INCLUSIVE experiences in the world, The Ranch at Rock Creek, was right there in Philipsburg, on world famous Rock Creek- a famous gold medal trout fishery and scenic wonder. We had to find out more! It started like this- After a day of work on our place, we hopped into our dirty truck for some sightseeing and ended up over by Rock Creek. This incredibly scenic drive is about 20 minutes from P-burg, and around 75 mins from Missoula. The beauty is incredible and the area itself is very remote and unspoiled. We saw the Ranch and decided to stop in and take a gander. When we arrived the first time at the Ranch, we realized that this isn’t a “stop in and look” kind of place. They take privacy seriously, and the staff at the front desk was a little wary of a couple of dusty ran-do’s popping on by to “check things out”. We saw what we needed to see though; an incredible rustic, but elegant western experience greeted us, with beauty and authenticity all around and it all validated the photos that you can see for yourself online. We knew we wanted to get some time there, for sure!! Fast forward a couple weeks, back to Pburg! We were taking our airplane with some of our dear friends from Portland area to P-burg to show them a good time and introduce them to the “wonders” of P-burg and to hopefully convince them to spend time there themselves! The Riddick field airport right in downtown Pburg ain’t much to look at, but it will handle smaller jets, and our plane without problem, a PC12, but check the runway conditions prior to going. The landings in P-burg are part of the excitement. You fly right by the rugged Pintler range, and the backside of Discovery ski area, then do a primary low pass over the runway to scare off any stray deer prior to final approach and landing. Welcome to Montana!! We knew our friends would enjoy the funkiness of Pburg, but we wanted to make them fall in LOVE with the area, so besides the skiing&snowboarding, snowmobiling and ATVs, treasure hunting and all of the great food available in town, we hatched a plan to try to get some time at the Ranch during our visit. I contacted the Ranch and was connected to Brooke, their front office manager and ambassador. We had asked Brooke if we could come out to the Ranch for a day to try out the spa( with their famous CBD massages and soaking tubs) and then have a wine dinner with Chef Josh (check him out on Vimeo). Brooke said she would see what she could do, and it sounded promising. When she got back to us, we were pleasantly surprised when she did us even better. “Come out and enjoy the spa, then stay for the night, and we will include your dinner” . They offered the four of us the “Cattail Cabin”, one of their premier accommodations. How could we resist? So we added a night at Rock Creek Ranch to our P-burg itinerary. Brooke became like a friend prior to, during and after our visit to the Ranch. She was awesome, communicating often, and made everything incredibly seamless from the start. Our day started when Kari from the Ranch picked us up from our place in P-burg, to transport us to the Ranch. Kari was the perfect first exposure to the people at the ranch, awesome in every way, as she gave us both local information, and Ranch information on the way over to the Ranch. I would note, that Kari also offers a silent experience if thats what we would have preferred. When we arrived at the Ranch, we were dropped off at Cattail and it was nothing short of stunning. Every detail was perfection. You could immediately tell that the owner, Jim Manley and his team were perfectionist when it comes to design. Soon it was time to SPA and relax for the day. the four of us each had ordered a 90 min CBD massage, which were spaced out throughout the afternoon. Downtime between massages could be spent in our room, or the common areas of the Ranch. It was incredibly relaxing! The spa is understated compared to some of the 5 star spas you may have experienced, but that is part of what makes it greatness. Every detail is perfection- but in a setting that you would expect to find at your best friends ranch. The 4 of us had Candice and Chelsea attend to us, and also give us our massages. With ZERO exaggeration, I will convey that all four of us “experienced spa goers” said it was the absolute best massage and one of the best spa experiences we have ever gotten. 5 star all the way and pretty darn incomparable!! After Spa was social hour in the lobby bar area, where we sat by the roaring fire in a western living room setting. We were greeted by name everywhere we went, and the bartenders and servers at social hour were no exception. They were knowledgeable, personable and remembered all of our names, and our drink preferences. Logan and Garret were running the place and were outstanding- just like old friends, suggesting new libations and cracking jokes to make the time special. We didn’t want it to end, but we were intrigued by what was to come- a 5 course ranch sampler dinner with wine pairing. Time to get to it!! Dinner was the best and almost impossible to describe. Imagine the best gourmet fusion, temper it with a truly western and Montana flair, make sure that its sourced locally or flown in fresh, then combine all of that ia fantastic assortment of the Ranch’s best wines. The only thing that makes that all even better was the services. Our main server Sydney was incredible, and a hospitality major who ended up working at the ranch. Incredibly personable, knowledgeable and will be a huge success wherever she lands. Then there was Greg- who was our “attendant” for the visit. He seemed to be there to make sure everything went perfectly, and to answer any and all questions. While he told us he was new to the Ranch, you would not be able to tell. He had incredible depth of knowlege about food, wine and what the Ranch had to offer. Oh- and he had a great look- as if he had been in Montana his whole life. Finally, Craig who is the sommelier at the Ranch. Now, humbly, I have been to some more famous Napa wineries and enjoyed their wine pairing dinners, but Craig brought it to a whole other level. We wanted to try what the Ranch offered “on the truck” and we were absolutely delighted. Wines for each course, with no limitation to country or region and perfectly paired with each of our 5 courses. And PLENTY to go around. What a dinner to remember!! After dinner, we decided to blow off some steam so we headed to the Silver Dollar Saloon which is exactly what you might imagine- a western saloon with decor, a stage for musicians, pool table, and, what? A 4 lane bowling alley? Well- that was right up our “alley” so we decided to finish the night off with some friendly competition. Garrett was also our bartender for bowling and was extremely supportive of our late night partying ways. We will leave it at that, but we definitely had some fun. Finally, it was time to call it a night, so we took the short walk back to the Cattail Cabin under a stunning pitch black sky full of stars. When we arrived at the cabin, there was a tray full of s’mores fixings, complete with perfect willow branch sticks for roasting marshmallows in our real wood fireplace. We talked and laughed for some time, enjoying what felt like our own western cabin. Time for bed, then up the next morning where the Ranch then picked us up, took us to the Buckle barn, where we enjoyed breakfast with some local flair, then back to the Cattail where we packed up and left the Ranch. The Ranch at Rock Creek is amazing and we will be back. One thing I never mentioned was payments and tips. The Ranch makes everything so seamless that there is never a time to pull our a wallet. It truly feels like you are spending time at your family friend’s ranch, and THAT is a true feat. Anyone can build a great place to stay and play, but very few in my experience get the true meaning of hospitality. The Ranch knows how to do it right. Thanks for having us and please feel free to share this review!! Andrew and Sydney Cadwell

Perfection and Beauty!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Just back from a family trip to The Ranch at Rock Creek and all I can say - yet again - is "Wow". My wife and I have been two time previously - once with a couple of friends and once by ourself to celebrate an anniversary - and each time the perfection of the venue shows. For this visit we had our family of (adult) "kids" and a 95 pound Bouvier (dog), and the Ranch yet again excelled in every dimension. Actvities were flawless and fun, the food and drinks amazing, and the entire attitude was that no request was too small or too difficult. It is not an inexpensive place - but if you are looking for near perfection in hospitality, this is the place to come!

Christmas at the Ranch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

We had the pleasure of spending Christmas this year at the Ranch at Rock Creek. Initially, I was unsure of spending the holiday away from home, but it was absolutely wonderful. The ranch did such an amazing job making the holiday special. Every building was decorated with lights, and wreaths, warm fires were always lit in every fireplace, Christmas music played in all the common areas, and the food was everything you could wish for over the holidays. On Christmas day we were able to go skiing up at the nearby mountain, and the ranch catered a beautiful lunch outside in the snow with fire pits, hot drinks and beautifully set tables. It was something we will absolutely remember forever, so such a big thank you to all of the employees working on the holiday! The absolute highlight of our trip was the horse program. My daughter and I are avid riders, and we were able to ride almost every day. The private trail rides were absolutely amazing, and tailored to our skill level. Riding in the Montana wilderness and loping up mountains was absolutely magical. We had the pleasure of riding with Kim, Gracie, McKenna and Aubrey, who were all so knowledgeable, kind and fun to ride with. The horse program here is truly outstanding. The horses are so well cared for, and 1000% safe, but still with lots of get up and go when asked. We were able to ride Jelly, Tank, Kirk, Buckaroo, Conway, Quincy, China and Aussie. All of these horses were very special, wonderful, patient, beautiful horses. Thank you for making this ranch such a special place. We highly recommend, and will remember this Christmas for the rest of our lives.
