This Irish landmark was originally built as an official palace for the Bishop of Down, and is tucked into 12 acres of gardens and woodland. Could do better

Exceptional staff in particular Jonathan, Rose, Daniel and Si’ who made the stay extra special with their friendliness. However all staff were extremely friendly and polite. The hotel itself was fine but a few niggles - we had requested the beds be twins but it was made up as a king size, this was sorted swiftly. Urine on the toilet seat was not acceptable but was dealt with quickly but shouldn’t have happened. On our 3rd night I had requested and paid for an additional bed in the room but this didn’t happen and early evening I had to chase it. The bed wasn’t removed the following day it was just left in the room. The shower leaked terribly. The positives of the room were the beautiful views, very calming. We spent a lovely afternoon in the Bollinger Garden as the weather was stunning and a lovely Champagne Afternoon Tea on arrival. I do think the staff make this hotel special along with the stunning grounds and the history of the hotel itself however, I don’t think the hotel lives up to a 5 star unfortunately, high-end 4 star in my opinion.

Beautiful Estate; Fantastic Staff

totally amazing hotel; the grounds have the most amazing statues; rooms are gorgeous; staff is helpful-professional and very friendly/nice. Meals were perfect; bar area is great. I didn't make it to the spa, but I understand it is also wonderful. You will need to take a cab or other transportation to get downtown or other places There are many different areas that you can sit with friends/spouse and enjoy your day/ read etc. Totally amazing. Rooms are large with comfy beds and they have deep soaking tubs. Fantastic Estate

Beautiful Hotel

Amazing place, beautiful grounds and hotel. We stayed for 1 night then 2 nights after alternative accommodation at family wedding for couple nights. Arrival and check in went smoothly. Warm friendly welcome. Our room was amazing. Spacious and luxurious. Spotlessly clean. Beds so comfortable. Plenty drawer and hanging space. Bathroom large and spacious. Roll top bath, walk in shower. All the areas are beautifully furnished, lots of places to relax. Spa and pool very good. Best ever spa treatment by a lovely lady called Gemma. Pool area clean with several loungers. Jacuzzi was long rectangular shape which worked very well with stepped seat along and different jets depending on where you sat. Bar menu varied choice. Staff all very attentive in bar areas. Breakfast was very good with buffet choice. Also cold choices of cereals, fruit, ham, cheese, pastries, yogurts Endless supply of fresh tea/coffee. We ate in the Cultra Inn on 2 evenings which is their on site Inn. Food was excellent with lots of choice. Just a short stroll from main hotel through beautifully kept gardens. Cannot thank staff enough for making our stay special. We stayed 3 nights in total with family, friends and our son and daughter in law who were newly married. Pam on reception helped with decorations in newlyweds room thank you so much they loved the surprise. Gemma in the Spa gave me the best treatment I have ever had. All in all we had an amazing stay and look forward to future visits. ONLY negatives were our room key card stopped working on 4 occasions meaning a trek down to reception. !

A Great Experience.

Loved the hotel. The artwork on display is interesting and quirky. The room was very comfortable although water pressure does need to be addressed. The staff were, without exception, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The food was of a high standard and very tasty. Many thanks to the chefs on Friday evening who provided a marvellous three course meal. Breakfast was a buffet style but we ordered from the a la carte menu so breakfast is cooked to order, if you so choose. The Cultra Inn is part of the hotel and a nice place to while away an hour or two. The Bollinger Bar is Absolutely Fabulous, forgive the pun.

OK, hotel were very unhelpful in locating my husbands lost mobile phone. We had to ring several times before we got the night staff, the gentleman there was extremely helpful.
