Viceroy Bali

Upon leaving Viceroy on July 23rd, I turned to Patrick, the general manager who happened to be present at our departure, and said, "You know a stay has been special when you feel your heartstrings being tugged." That's exactly how I felt as I left Viceroy: Glad to be heading home after a two-week stay on the island, but noticeably sad as we said goodbye to those who had gathered to wish us farewell. There was no doubt that the heartstrings were at play. To be certain, everything about the hotel is of first-class quality–the grounds, the deluxe villa suite where we stayed for the week, the restaurants and bars, the well-kept facilities. But what makes this place uniquely special are the people who make their livelihood at Viceroy, in particular the restaurant staff and the front desk managers, whom we felt we got to know on a personal level. Their true Balinese spirit of generosity and kindness has a way of speaking directly to the heart. We spent the week in one of the hotel's newest rooms, a spacious deluxe villa with its own infinity pool overlooking a tropical jungle view. Every morning and evening, our room was cleaned and meticulously prepared for our return to our "home away from home" after a day of exploring Ubud Center and the surrounding area. We especially appreciated the thoughtfully performed nightly turn-down services: our robes neatly arranged on our bed; the room's lighting adjusted to make for a more relaxing ambiance; delicate chocolate treats housed in small, colorful Balinese baskets placed on our pillows. Small touches that went a long way in making us feel at home. We took breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Cascades restaurant where the service was impeccable and the food, a delightful blend of international and Balinese cuisine. We enjoyed getting to know our servers Santi, Yan, Yudi, Wijana, and Nik, just to name a few, and all of whom provided such warm and attentive service. Viceroy is a slice of Balinese hospitality and comfort—where tradition, tranquility, and thoughtful care come together in perfect harmony.

Our second time here and it was even more amazing! The location, views and resort are absolutely magical. Even if you're not an early riser, it's worth to wake up early for an absolutely beautiful sunrise across the valley. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa with two teenage kids and loved the space. Special mention to Patrick and his team! Everyone was beyond helpful and welcoming. Staff was very discreet, yet they were there whenever we needed something. We definitely plan on coming back again, hopefully sooner rather thn later 😀

My fiancé and I had the most unforgettable honeymoon at the Viceroy in Ubud — it was truly everything we dreamed of and more. From the very moment we arrived, we were blown away by the incredible attention to detail and the warm hospitality that greeted us. The staff was right there as we pulled in, making us feel instantly welcomed and cared for — a theme that continued throughout our entire stay. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Nestled in the lush hills of Ubud, it feels like a peaceful sanctuary. One of our favorite moments each day was enjoying breakfast over the beautiful terrace, surrounded by jungle views and serenity. Every bite felt like part of the experience — thoughtful, delicious, and beautifully presented. What stood out most was how much care went into every aspect of our visit. It felt as though nothing was too small to be considered — from the perfectly made-up villa to the seamless service at every turn. You could feel the effort and love the team puts into making every guest’s stay unforgettable. A special thank you to GM Patrick, who constantly checked in to make sure we were happy, comfortable, and truly enjoying ourselves. His presence and personal attention made our experience feel extra special. We truly cannot recommend the Viceroy Ubud enough. If you're looking for a place that offers luxury, heart, and beauty in every sense, this is it. We already miss it dearly and are counting down the days until we can return.

I wonder who were all them a-holes who rated this hotel lower than 5. No, really - I'd really love to know what there was not to their royal liking. It deserves 6 stars - and so this is going to be my shortest review ever. Yes, 6 stars. Easily one of the very best hotels we've ever stayed at in over 30 years of international travels.
