Secluded and romantic, this sanctuary for the finer things in life is located in Ubud, the artistic center of Bali, only a short distance from pristine beaches and an exciting nightlife. Indulge your spirit and your body in complete relaxation, or venture out to explore the Island(TM)s rich artistic and cultural offerings. Either way, the Viceroy Bali is perfect for an exotic escape.

The Viceroy is superb. This was our third stay. A good deal has changed in the intervening 9 years since we were last there, with the addition of a large building which houses a high-end restaurant serving degustation menus (Aperitif), a huge bar with billiard table, the spa (in a separate part of the building), a fully equipped gym, and the addition of a number of villas. Notwithstanding the expansion, the core remains as intimate and peaceful as ever. The level of service is exemplary and solicitous; the level of spoken English is excellent. Our room was very comfortable and cleaned thoroughly every day. We had a terrace and plunge pool with a view of the gorge, which are entirely private and not overlooked. There were complimentary yoga classes every couple of days which were very welcome and on one occasion I was the sole participant. On our last morning, a complimentary 15 minute massage was on offer as we left breakfast. There were also social drinks in the bar every few days with complimentary cocktails and (slightly too substantial!) snacks. We enjoyed a Balinese cooking class and were guided through the process by an expert chef; the sous chef and he were very obliging when grinding spices to a paste became a bit too much like hard work! The hotel provides a free shuttle service into Ubud. The front desk also arranged for one of their drivers to take us to some temples, at least one of which was off the beaten track and we had the place to ourselves. The driver was informative and happy for us to set the pace. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, although the fruit selection was a little limited. It was a wonderful stay and I can recommend it to anyone looking for a high-level service, and a peaceful time in a beautiful location.

The Viceroy blew me away! I have had the luxury of staying at many 5 star hotels and The Viceroy is the best I have ever stayed in. This place is heaven on earth! I booked this hotel on points through Hilton. I am a Hilton Gold member which in the states means nothing, here it means Villa upgrade! Our room was amazing with its own private pool. Everything was gorgeous. They give a free mini bar with waters, sodas and lite snacks. They deliver coffee to your room for free in the morning. I was worried about the mosquitos because they love me. I put on repellent daily and I was fine, even being in and out of pool. They spray the resort for them so they keep them down. If I did not have a problem, you won't. I get bitten badly. One tip I will give is that if you are staying here and do not have kids, ask to be put in a Villa away from people w kids. Our Villa was next to a family and they were very loud w kids in the pool. This only went on for one day but really took away from the relaxing feel of the resort. If I stay here again I will ask to not be put next to people w kids because kids are just loud in the pool, that is how they are. This resort was so wonderful. The staff, the spa( Lisa gave me the best massage ever) the food and the absolutely beautiful location was perfection. This would be an ideal honeymoon resort.

We are so so so so so sad to be leaving the Viceroy and Ubud in general. The view from any point in this outdoor hotel is mesmerizing, especially if you love tropical views. You might even catch monkeys fighting in the distant tree tops across the valley. All villas face east with beautiful sunrises and nightime mist/fog if you’re lucky. The staff were the highlight of it all. They truly are so genuine and authentic, easy to talk to, and best of all; light-hearted with an easy-going sense of humor. I can’t name specific employees because they were all so welcoming; everyone from the front desk to the electrician and the bellboys. Turn down service is offered almost twice a day. They come back later in the day with new towels if you need them. Large speakers are provided and are easy to connect to, as well as a Netflix-equipped TV. My two comments on the rooms are: there isn’t a dresser for girls. There is a chair and more than enough room to have a full on dresser, so I’m sure that is an easy fix for the hotel to add. I would suggest either having an outlet in the closet to plug in a hairdryer, or just adding a mirror to the right of the tv, where the chair is tucked into the desk. I had to do my hair in the reflection of the TV LOL! The open concept bathroom is beautifully symmetrical with a bathtub dead center and his and her towels on either side. There is a separate room for the toilet and a separate open shower. Two sinks lie on either side for his and hers. But what’s the best thing about this place? Their tap water is drinkable/filtered😭😭😭😭 (happy tears!) We didn’t have to worry about closing our mouths in the shower or brushing our teeth with bottled water (although plentiful was still provided). Last but not least the bed is massive and the sheets were pristine clean. The spa was a let down, the staff weren’t all that wonderful, and the spa room was semi luxurious. Given that we were staying in one of the most picturesque locations in Ubud, it would have been nice for the room to at least have a window with a view or connect more to the outdoors, like the rest of the hotel. Conclusion: the price was not worth the spa. There is a french restaurant that we didn’t try (Aperitif) and a bar next to it called Pinstripe which is a MUST experience. Moody, luxurious, and the drinks are spectacular. Comes with a price tag to match, but for those who enjoy a cigar lounge feel, it was worth it. The walk-in cigar humidor was also trés cool. If we ever come back to Ubud, we won’t think twice about rebooking at the Viceroy, hands down one of the most wonderful hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Note: do not be deceived by the pictures. It is 100x more breathtaking in person. - Essa & Christina Nuaman

This place is just exceptional. Friendliest staff in any hotel I’ve stayed in, delectable food, a superb location, immaculate rooms and multiple facilities allowed us to think great of this place. First, the facilities, we were amazed by the number of facilities in a small hotel, the gym, the squash court, the helipad and the spa, just to name a few. Whenever me and my family went to these facilities, we always had a great time, whether that’s running around on the squash court, or enjoying a massage in the spa. Absolutely incredible. Second, the rooms, upon entering our room for the first time, we simply couldn’t believe it. We booked a 2-bedroom villa with a pool and we couldn’t think of a downside to this room. The spacious showers, the large, comfortable and spotless beds, the luxurious bathroom and the pool. We would get a nice feeling coming back from wherever we went for dinner because the housekeeping staff did a turn-down service and we all thought that was a lovely cherry-on-top. Third, the location, wherever you are in this hotel, I guarantee you will look over a scenic jungle valley whether that’s by the main pool, the cascades restaurant, the room, or the spa. Behind those jungle-like trees, a small snippet of rice fields were visible, and even those were enough to give the location of this hotel 5 stars. Unbeatable location. Fourth, the food. We went to two restaurants at our stay here in Viceroy Bali; the cascades, and the pinstripe bar. Both places having almost perfect food. I loved ordering plenty of Nasi Goreng from the cascades restaurant, and it would almost certainly result in a spotless plate. I had the Wagyu burger at the pinstripe bar and it was perfect after a long day out in the centre of Ubud. But, what made this place so memorable, were the staff. When walking to the pool or a restaurant, staff driving by with buggies or gardeners and groundsman, would say a really happy 'Selamat Pagi' or 'Apa Kabar’ and that always made my day staying here. The reception and restaurant staff were super friendly. I would like to mention a few restaurant staff who provided perfect service, who were very friendly and who made our stay here memorable. These people were working at the cascades restaurant and their names are: Ardi, Wijana, Nik and Gung (the restaurant manager). However, one staff stuck out to us, he took us on tours of the monkey forest, Tegalalang rice fields, taking us to try Kopi Luwak, and so much more. He taught us all about Balinese culture and even taught us a few words. His name is Catur or 'chess' as we would call him. However, this hotel is very tranquil and I wouldn’t recommend bringing any babies or children under the age of 6 or 7 because this place is very tranquil. Overall, we have had a fantastic week here at the Viceroy Bali and would definitely recommend for families with teenagers or older kids. I think all the staff in the Viceroy deserve the world, but those people mentioned in this review I think deserve something more.

We spent 3 days at a viceroy - the accommodation ( a terrace villa) was amazing and felt really high quality with an amazing infinity pool of our own. The care and thought that went into to this was obvious to see. The food ( we mostly ate in Cascades but did also eat in the Pinstripe bar) was really high quality, and there was quite a range of Indonesian and international - we had the rijsttafel one evening, a local curry another and nasi goreng) - all amazing. All of the staff were amazingly friendly and engaging - clearly some genuine interest in making sure that we had a great time. My wife used the spa twice - and her feedback was that it was really high quality. Everything at Viceroy was a really high standard and well thought through - and it was suitably laid back as well which worked well for us. We went into Ubud but frankly enjoyed just relaxing at Viceroy
