Reviews for Warwick Ibah Luxury Villas & Spa

A hidden gem in the heart of Ubud

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We have been going to the Ibah for many years and were a little worried to return now that it's no longer part of the Warwick Hotels group. However, the same high standards of service and warmth are still present, and we noticed a definite improvement in the cuisine on offer for the most part. The hotel is down a long driveway off a major road in Ubud, and is just 10 minutes walk to the center of Ubud. There is also a shuttle, which used to be on demand and now runs on a schedule every two hours, that will drop you for free in the center or for a charge elsewhere. We used Grab most of the time and found it to be fast and efficient. The landscaping and grounds are immaculate and managed with perfection. The landscaping is some of the best we have seen anywhere in the world, with layers of exotic palms, wild ginger, you name it, creating a lush and interesting mosaic of plants to admire. We spent hours walking through the grounds as we have for the last 20 years. The rooms are comfortable but now tend more towards the authentic than the luxurious. We were quite surprised there is no body lotion / moisturizer provided in the bathrooms and hope the lovely frangipani scented product from years past will return. The rooms are beginning to show their age and especially the toilets and faucets / valves need to be updated as they are the originals installed back in the 90s. Air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool. Massages in the spa were wonderful and fairly-priced. We would suggest a return to the oils that featured ginger and other aromas as the oils seemed very basic, but they were not objectionable. They just did not add anything to the massage. The therapists were wonderful and we loved the newly-renovated spa. The big upgrade was the cuisine - I am guessing there is a new chef. We had an amazing mushroom soup for lunch that was truly wonderful. We do miss the mango/coconut smoothies at breakfast and hope they will make a return. Overall a lovely stay and we look forward to our return. The Ibah is a hidden gem in Ubud and definitely a very special & romantic place to stay. I would caution that those with mobility issues should stay elsewhere - the entire resort of laid out on a hillside and there are many steps and uneven terrain. The elderly or infirm may want to find a more classic hotel with elevator / etc. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Ibah for making our most recent stay so special!

Authentic experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

What strucked me about the Ibah was it authenticity and the sheer beauty of the hotel. You have to enjoy every detail. We stayed in a river suite. The room has stunning forest views and a beautiful terrace. The room and bathroom are spacious and the furniture is luxurious. I also like the fact that we had a dressing room. Breakfast was great and the views were really pretty. I did the Campuhan ridge walk after breakfast and enjoyed the walk very much. It was super easy from the hotel. In fact it was also easy to pop into the pharmacy and mini mart next door. We only stayed two days, one of which I had a spa day planned. The hotel assisted with transport but keep in mind that the hotel will also be providing transport to other guests. I cancelled a facial to get back to the hotel to enjoy the afternoon with my husband but ended up waiting more than an hour for the transfer. In peak hours when it is raining the roads in Ubud come to a standstill. The pool is magnificent and we had some interesting cocktails while watching the birds at play. I appreciate good quality toiletries and the Ibah did not disappoint. The toiletries were much better than those provided by the two five star properties we visited next. The morning and moon teas were excellent. After checking out we returned for the friendship fire and jazz evening. We pre-ordered Bebek Betutu (Roast duck). The dinner was fantastic and the portion size was generous.

Quiet luxury in stunning tropical grounds

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Quiet luxury - spacious rooms, marble bathrooms, huge balcony area with fan, AC in room, huge bed, rainforest directly before us and the sound of the river. Jazz trio at dinner on Wednesday evenings - excellent. Free shuttle to and from the centre at set times. Also easily walkable in 15 mins. Staff friendly and not intrusive.

Ibah Luxury Villas is an oasis in Ubud, Bali - only 15 villas but all beautiful and spacious. The staff is generous with their friendliness and they feel like family members. Within a week of my return this year, I purchased another package to be used next year.
