This was our third visit to the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr and it continued to deliver a great experience. It was also lovely to see familiar staff faces who were more than happy to accommodate our needs as we settled into our stay. We are now very familiar with the hotel and this time we took the opportunity to stay on the Gold level which as part of the package offered afternoon and early evening snacks and drinks and access to the Gold lounge. This also served as a nice break from the heat as it hit 38 degrees in the sun. As with most stays there are things to improve on and having staff monitor the beach area during busy days is needed. Additionally the busy times at breakfast and dinner meant that the staff were under a lot of pressure to turn tables around. They could use some help. We also feel that there is a need to offer kids above a certain age (7+ years old) more appropriate kids club facilities. Another hotel we stayed at had recently built a small shaded astroturfed enclosure with some goals and a football. This was full of kids all day and something like this could be a great addition to the hotel.

I recently visited your hotel with my partner (an APC, Aviation Professionals Club member) for the beach, pool, and gym. It was my first time there, and I was shocked by the rude and unprofessional treatment I received from your receptionist named Charlie. When I asked for assistance with the gym locker, she replied with a sharp, dismissive tone: “ACTUALLY ma’am, the gym is not included in your payment.” She then pointed me toward what’s included in the package in an unfriendly way, as if I wasn’t capable of reading. She even said, “If my colleague didn’t brief you, then…” implying it was just common sense I should have known. But really, if I had been properly briefed, would I still ask and insist about the gym? Let me be clear: the issue isn’t whether or not the gym was included. The issue is her tone, attitude, and lack of basic respect, totally unacceptable from someone in a front-facing role at a 5-star hotel. I also couldn’t help but notice she was much nicer to Western guests while I was in line. As an Asian guest, that made me feel looked down on, and frankly, it left a bad impression. Ironically, she’s Asian too, which made it even more disappointing. I’ve been to Fairmont The Palm, Dubai, several times and have never encountered such behavior. I have a photo of her, should you need it for reference. I hope you take this seriously and ensure staff are trained to speak to all guests with equal courtesy and respect.

This hotel was excellent. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and was attractively decorated. The service was wonderful, especially from Rafat Sarah who took special care of us, gave us a guided tour of the city, took care of all of our needs and even gave us a private tour of the underground car museum. The hotel restaurants are worth visiting as well. We had an especially good meal at the Italian restaurant. We will definitely be back, and thanks again to Rafat!

Overall well maintained hotel with very attentive staff. We stayed in a room facing the beach on the 9th floor. The view of the mosque was pretty and there was no noise coming through. The room was spacious and clean. The biggest disappointment was the fact that the pool and the beach were accessible to the public and during the weekend it was far from a relaxing place! There were hardly any beds available and the pool was overcrowded by young guys making terrible noise. If you are looking for a place to relax make sure the pool and the beach are private.
