Reviews for InterContinental Adelaide

Still delivers a great stay !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Still a grand old dame of Adelaide, the hotel is pretty well known by many with it previously (some time ago) being a Sheraton. The service is great and the hotel still has its charm. Rooms are certainly looking a little tired and are well and truely due for a face lift but they still service you well and are of a great size ! The hotel is located in an optimal position to explore Adelaide if you’re visiting as a tourist or to access the city if you are there for work. Breakfasts offer a great spread but if you’re inclined to explore the city you will find a range of great little cafes that offer a well priced breakfast. With there being lots of choices to stay at, this is still one of my favourites for business and leisure., but to the IHG group it’s time for some room renovations !

Very nice IC property.

Just stayed for one night as a stopover in Adelaide as a part of a road trip. It was a night stay as we arrived pretty late and left straight after breakfast the next morning. Swift check-in and a quick upgrade to a river view high-floor room (diamond member), and off we went to our room, which was very spacious and had everything one may expect in a 5-star hotel. I had breakfast in an executive lounge with a good choice of food and beverages and a nice staff. Would definitely stay again nd recommend this IC.

Staff make up for a tired property

InterContinental Adelaide has a great location. But it's very tired and way overdue renovation. I guess that's reflected in the price. I'm Diamond Ambassador and was "upgraded" to a River View room for my 5-night stay, despite low occupancy. It's all I am due, but it's not what I have seen in other properties. The Club Lounge offerings were average with a $70 pp charge that I get as a Reward choice. Having said that, the staff were spot on and remembered us and did the extra things you would hope for from InterContinental. Would I choose InterContinental Adelaide again....hmmmm...not sure....perhaps based on price, maybe, but just maybe.

Great location, dated decor and fixtures

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

First, the good stuff: The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic. Right on the banks of the Torrens, next to the central station (and casino) and the convention centre, short stroll across the pedestrian bridge to the stadium. So many food and entertainment options right on the doorstep. The service was very good, breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff in the buffet were attentive and polite. The rooms are very quiet and quite spacious, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Having a choice of foam or feather pillows also makes for a great night's sleep. However, hotel decor and fixtures and fittings are very dated and worn. Carpet is faded and worn and stained, plumbing is noisy with inconsistent pressure, the shower head in my room was leaky, the door into the bathroom was through a narrow cupboard-style door. Not what I would expect from an InterContinental or a 5-star hotel. It is in desperate need of a facelift to bring it up to standard.

Very happy with my stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I had a great stay for two nights. The hotel is in a great location and, while a little 'tired', it provides a fantastic hospitality experience. The service is excellent. I was greeted as a IHG rewards member and my room was available very early so I was able to work from the hotel as son as I arrived. The gym is fully equiped and probably one of the better hote gyms I have seen. The bathroom are very spacious and well-lit. My room (single, king) was large. Overall, very happy with my stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
