A beautiful (big) hotel & resort. The employees here, especially the door men/porters, are fantastic! Extremely clean premises, amazing breakfast selection, decent spa facilities (highly recommend the couples package!!) we will be back soon! Only slight negative we had was the ‘La Vista’ restaurant- very slow service, wrong items on our bill, regardless, this wasn’t enough to ruin our stay!

This has been one of our favourite UK hotel stays. I never thought we would find a luxury UK hotel that is so family friendly. The staff were fantastic! I couldn't fault the service and they really were great with the kids. We stayed in a family room - great as they have a separate area with bunkbeds, the kids even get child sized robes, slippers, an activity pack and also their own toiletry pack! Upon check-in the kids were given a passport to fill with stickers from around the hotel a once completed they took this to reception and received a lovely surprise! Food was fantastic and catered well for my gluten free diet. In fact, I have to say the breakfasts were the best hotel breakfasts l've ever had since my coeliac diagnosis. I’m sure we will be back! I actually used to work at Cameron House over 20 years ago as a student, and it’s sad to see how far the place has slipped. I was also a member of the leisure club back then. The setting is still stunning — and I think that’s what keeps people coming back — but the service and food just aren’t up to scratch anymore. The Tavern Bar • We waited 1 hour 15 minutes for a very basic, stodgy lunch. • Had to chase the order even though there were only four tables occupied when we arrived. • The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, the “tatty scone nachos” were inedible, the guacamole was tasteless paste, and the sour cream watery. The Grill • Feels like a canteen. • £50 steak mostly fat and gristle. • One starter was forgotten. • Coffee served cold. • Carrots with a bizarre aftertaste. • Scallops rubbery, flavourless. La Vista • Pizza average at best. • Mussels rubbery. • Staff ignored a loudly pinging phone until I retrieved it myself. • Noise from live music was harsh and echoing, ruining the atmosphere. Breakfast • Scrambled eggs watery and unappealing. • Sausages and bacon very poor quality. • Long delays in getting even basic tea/coffee despite the restaurant being almost empty. Other issues • Scott’s Bar had a singer with guitar — but with the shape and high ceiling, the sound echoed terribly. • Service across the board slow and poorly coordinated, no visible supervisors. This isn’t the first time, either. A couple of years ago we held an event there, and the hospitality was just as poor — equipment didn’t work, food service had to be constantly chased, and the experience was stressful. At the time I thought it was a one-off, but sadly it looks like the norm. Summary: Cameron House still has the setting and friendly staff, but the training, organisation, food quality, and atmosphere are nowhere near five-star standard. We had been considering it as a venue for an international conference, but given this experience, we simply can’t risk it.

Came here to experience a nice Afternoon Tea. We did stay just half an hour away for a couple of days and the Afternoon Tea looked excellent when we checked online. Made a reservation (a must) a few days before. Our Bulldog was welcome here as well which was great! There are several parking lots on the grounds, so we took one a bit further away from the building to enjoy a bit of a walk on the grounds before heading in. The Afternoon Tea is served in The Lobby Bar. Which might not sound exciting, but actually has a very comfy and classy setting. Some tables (which were taken already) with wonderful views. Got our table and got the Afternoon Tea explained. Then ordered some pots of tea - there's more complimentary tea in case one or two aren't enough. You even can switch to other flavours. Dilma tea is served here and has some excellent flavours. "Italian Almond", "Blueberry/Pomegranate" and "Rose, Marzipan & Mint" were all great. First served was Leak & Potatoe Soup, Haggis Bonbons, Vol-au-Vent, Quiche and various Finger Sandwiches (Scottish Smoked Salmon with Dill Butter | Roast Chicken & Cranberry | Cream Cheese & Cucumber | Brioche with Egg Mayo & Cress). All fantastic items. Nothing store-bought, really tasted housemade and homemade. Then Strawberry Pavlova, Chocolat Religieuse, Victoria Cake and Lemon Poppy Seed Cake. Third and last then the Scones with clotted cream and jam were served. This really is an experience and you won't go home hungry. Don't plan on any big meals later on....or before arriving. The quality is really high, it really rises above any other Afternoon Teas we've had in various places. Even a big name in London wasn't as good as this one. But not just taste-wise it was excellent, but also the presentation. All pieces of art. As great in taste as they look. Amazing. Service was nice and friendly and working hard. Just at the start there was a bit of confusion. First the tea didn't arrive. And when it did, there weren't any cups yet on the table until we've called. But that was a very minor issue that didn't bother our great experience here. And really: at 50$ pp it is fair priced. You get a lot of wonderful dishes and items here. You can also upgrade to an Afternoon Tea with Champagne or Sparkling Wine if you'd like to. Surely the best Afternoon Tea we've had so far. Highly recommended. The Cameron House itself is a beauty and the location stunning.

Our second stay with family and it didn’t disappoint. The weather can be very hit and miss but there’s plenty to do if it rains. I’ve read some reviews on here saying the service was not great, but everyone we came across was polite and always said good morning or hello. The food was excellent, breakfast had everything you could want and La Vista was fantastic, great service and fabulous food. The facilities are excellent and we had a family room with a balcony which was perfect. We will be back!
