Not the experience that I had come to expect from Omni

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 13 hours ago

I booked this stay for my 20th wedding anniversary. Check-in was easy and associate was friendly, but upon entry to first booked room, the room smelled musty/mildewy. We tried to call the front desk but the phone in the room did not work, so we walked back to the front desk, luggage in tote. The associate started to ask if she could just have room service go spray air freshener, but she quickly retracted coming to the conclusion herself that wasn't acceptable for a musty/moldy smell. We were assigned another room on the second floor. This room did not have the same repulsive smell, but the view was a huge disappointment. The view of the tops of the palm trees and the top of a (pool equipment?) building was not at all what I expected for this trip and pales in comparison to a prior stay we had which was excellent. Since I already complained about the first room, I did not complain again, but should have. This stay experience was topped off at check-out. I attempted to check out online but the website told me my room was invalid, presumably from the room number change, so I went to the front desk. I noticed that I was charged for the night of valet parking. I wouldn't have even noticed or checked except the person that checked us in initially told us that we had a free night of valet parking and to just double-check that it is taken off at time of check-out. It is as if she knew there would be an issue with that, and there was. After the check-out associate initially gave the impression that she thought I was trying to pull one over on the Omni, she did credit it. This stay was a large disappointment in comparison to our stay for a prior anniversary, and not sure that this will be my go-to again given this new experience.

Walked in on by staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 14 hours ago

On our first night at the hotel I was in our room topless feeding my baby when a random man used a key to access our room unannounced. My husband had just left to get us food so I was caught off guard and alarmed. This man never said who he was and just left when he realized the room was occupied. I called front desk to see why someone had access to our room and just came in. First they accused me of calling maintenance like I was an idiot and would report the person I asked to come in for coming in - absolutely not. Finally they searched records and saw a call had not been made but it was staff and he should not have come in our room (okay so why did he?) They offered me 25% off my room fee (not resort fees or parking etc) which came out to be very minimal. Not the relaxing experience I was hoping for at a “nice” hotel.

stayed in a friends villa but utilized the main Omni Resort. Everything was nice, the place is huge, a lot of walking. Saw frogs, turtles and of course lizards on the path. the pool and property were surprising dated but with the sun shining it’s all good. tacos & chips poolside were excellent. everything on the grounds was well maintained. all the shuttle bus drivers were nice and saved me a lot of walking. Downtown amelia/fernandina is a must. Harris Teeter has a Starbucks and anything else you’ll need.

WONDERFUL WEDDING WEEKEND

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Third child getting married in 18 months and the experience at the Omni & Walkers Landing was outstanding!! The communication throughout the planning process was A+ with every staff member. When we got to the Omni, we were ALL treated with the utmost respect. My guests were so impressed with the service and beauty of the hotel. My family will have reunions here from now on! The food on property NEVER disappointed. We were here for 5 days and EVERYTHING went perfect. Highly recommend a Friday wedding and let your guests stay throughout the weekend and enjoy the Omni Experience! Thank you OMNI & STAFF

Can't wait to go back!

We had a wonderful romantic getaway at the Omni Amelia Island. We loved how big the resort is. There is something for everyone. It's perfect for families with kids and even couples celebrating their honeymoon or anniversary like we were! They have several pools, an adult-only pool, a huge family pool and then a splash pad for little ones. They also have 2 hot tubs and several fire pits and sitting areas all over. Of course, you can also enjoy the beach and ocean and they have chairs and umbrellas set-up on the beach (I'm not sure if you rent those for a fee or not). We rented bikes twice and enjoyed taking in the scenery and getting some exercise. Dylan at the bike shop was very helpful and polite! They have a lot of activities too. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe and then walking right down to the beach afterwards (Janice and Gina were very nice, always asking if we needed a to-go cup of coffee when we finished, and the hostess was great too but I didn't catch her name!). We also really enjoyed Marche Burette which is a delicious little cafe on the property, maybe a 10 min stroll from the main part of the hotel. They have a great patio and sometimes live music We also had a delicious dinner at Bob's Steakhouse which I would highly recommend. It doesn't look like much from the outside the but the inside is dark and romantic, but also laid back and playing great Sinatra style music. The dress code is if you can wear it on the golf course, you can wear it at Bob's. People were in tennis shoes and golf shirts and there were a few tables with kids, and even a few people dressed up like us. Excellent service and food! The hotel sent some complimentary chocolate covered strawberries to our room with a Happy Anniversary note which was very nice! We even had a clogged toilet on the last night of our stay. I was regretting calling the front desk fearing we would be getting into some sort of fiasco to get it fixed and would interrupt our packing and getting ready for our departure. But they fixed it and had housekeeping come and clean the bathroom all within 15-20 minutes. It was so fast it was like it didn't even happen! My husband can get a little excited and it can come across as overbearing. When we first arrived he practically ran up to one of the receptionists and was like "we're checking in". She looked like she was finishing up something on the computer, but she just smiled politely and took care of us. All in all, it was one of the most enjoyable trips we've ever taken. The hotel staff was all so nice!!! This is one of those places that really is as beautiful as the photos!!! P.S. We ventured over to the Ritz Carlton one day for lunch and couldn't help but compare it to the Omni. Yes the Ritz is the Ritz, but the pool was very small, it felt a little cramped and the hotel rooms don't even all have a direct ocean view like the Omni. The pool music (yes this is important) and the vastness of the resort grounds were also better at the Omni!!!
