Reviews for Finca Cortesin Hotel Golf & Spa

This hotel could be one of the best resort hotels in Western Europe.

We spent 6 weeks here and have eaten multiple times in all of the restaurants in the hotel. Excellent service usually but there is a need for investment in a number of areas. The suites/rooms we stayed in are generally large and comfortable but some of the furniture needs to be replaced or upgraded and the furniture on the outside terrace was poor and not particularly comfortable. Large bathroom with very good pressure in the shower and plenty of space for clothing and other items. Comfortable large beds. Good range of food at breakfast served in El Jardin and in the evening eating outside in the garden there is a great experience. Inside the restaurant is less attractive and the overall size needs to be increased particularly when it is impossible to eat on the outside terrace. Food is generally very good with multiple daily specials. One other restaurant Don Giovanni ( Italian ) is a nice setting when one can eat outside but the menu and food is somewhat disappointing.!! The principal problem is that the chef there is Spanish and I strongly recommend that an Italian chef replaces the existing chef and that more typical Italian specials are regularly available on the menu which is not the case generally. The other main restaurant is REI which offers Asian Fusion and Japanese cuisine which is usually very good but a little on the expensive side. Otherwise the hotel has a large indoor pool with full spa facilities as well as a most attractive outdoor pool with an excellent restaurant for lunch in a pleasant setting and the gardens are very attractive. There is also a very good 18 hole golf course in excellent condition where the Solheim Cup was played in 2023. It is a challenging course more suited to players with a 24 handicap or less. To summarise this hotel has every thing going for it but for it to live up fully to its potential some investment is needed soon principally in the rooms , some of the restaurants and with extra attention and efforts throughout the hotel it could really be 5 star and offer an outstanding stay and facilities. If you are visiting the Costa del Sol then I can strongly recommend that you give this hotel a try.

Luxury at its finest…

It is hard to find a fault in finca cortesin to be honest - the hotel, the staff, the facilities, the location half an hour from Marbella, great gym and sPa, golf course, multiple restaurants - really top notch if you are looking for an escape from reality. If i had to pick a minor fault was breakfast - felt a buffet would have worked much better and Maitre wasnt the warmest - otherwise a full on 5/5*.

Impressive hotel with an incredible indoor pool

The last hotel on our very long Grand Europe trip. What can I say? This is supposed to be one of the best resorts in Andalucia and it certainly was. Our suite was beautiful and very luxurious, and the indoor swimming pool is just breathtaking. It’s a very large hotel but you don’t feel it at all because everything is planned so well. The grounds are maintained perfectly. I counted at least five gardeners in one morning and they have gorgeous olive trees. My one constructive criticism is the lack of personalized service for such a luxury hotel. We stayed here a few days and saw the same staff every day but they smiled at us in a very impersonal way without any recognition or special effort. Nothing to complain about, but I expected better service from a hotel with such a great reputation.

Not as good it wants to be

After spending time at the new Vermelho hotel in Portugal's Alentejo and the Anantara Villa Padierna our stay at the Finca Cortesin was supposed to be the highlight of this trip. Allow us to disagree with a lot of other reviews. There is something missing at this hotel. It looks good, the service is polished (on the limit of arrogance sometimes) but we miss the feel-good factor. We have been to a lot of "best hotels" in the same range as the Finca, but this does not seem to be a hotel for us. Good hardware but deficient software. Stiffness, everything is done by the rules, problem solving is not in their books. Nice big pools (3 of them) but freezing cold ( never anyone in them and we are still in September!). The 4th in the spa is ok. Restaurants so-so. Jardins is a waste of (a hell of a lot of) money, Rei is good but if you want to eat enough you have to sell your house. Beach club nice and a great bar. Rooms are well-done but ours was exposed full north, which means not a single ray of sunshine during the whole day. In conlusion: we did not really feel welcome and the hotel lacks kindness and warmth. Not once did we feel that the hotel wanted us to come back in the future. For this price we expected certainly more but perhaps we just don't get it. Nb: read our reviews to see comments on what we consider "feel-good" hotels. Sorry, we won't be back

The best Hotel in Europe. The grounds, faculties, golf, staff, food, are all top notch. If your looking for an exceptional experience you will find it here. The rooms are the largest I’ve seen anywhere and the shower water pressure is amazing
